Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

Actually I went through all the encounter rates and took a look at the alolan pokedex order (+what islands they're found on) to figure out what old pokemon may be exclusives. All of these are guesses, though some are really obvious and some aren't. I'll put a note if it's possible I don't know what the fuck I'm thinking. The (Sun) ones don't show up at all in Pokemon Moon's encounter rates btw.

Cottonee/Whimsicott (Sun) / Petilil/Lilligant (Moon)
Rufflet/Braviary (Sun) / Vullaby/Mandibuzz (Moon)
**Note: There's actually encounter rates for both evolved Lycanroc forms in Moon on a later island (during daytime and nighttime), so it's possible they might not even be version exclusive.
Passimian (Sun) / Oranguru (Moon)
Turtonator (Sun) / Torkoal (Moon?) OR Drampa (Moon) **Turtonator is found in the exact same place and level as Torkoal but it's possible it could be a pair with Drampa since Drampa doesn't appear to have a pair in its location. Either way, Turtonator is (Sun), Drampa is (Moon), Torkoal is at least in Moon.
Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales (Sun) / Alolan Sandshrew/Sandslash (Moon)
Gible/Gabite/Garchomp (Sun) / Trapinch/Vibrava/Flygon (Moon)

Castform, Goomy and Vannilite don't have encounter rates, and none of them really have another pokemon close to them in the pokedex to pair them with. Vannilite could be a pair with Sneasel or Snorunt, but I can't really make that call. Could even be a pair with Drampa. Castform could be a gift. No fucking idea about Goomy.

Porygon also isn't catchable, I considered that it might be a pair with Beldum but it honestly could just be a gift pokemon. I also really don't want Beldum to be Moon exclusive because I really want to use it.

and then there's the known ones like the cover legendaries. some of the available fossils may be exclusives like they did with fossils in earlier games.

there's also the chance that you can get an exclusive through in-game trade kinda like cottonee/petilil in b/w.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

honestly thank you for that list i haven't been able to find anything as comprehensive

sad about
no braviary or garchomp

will be glad if i can get vanilluxe

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

If that is correct that means TWO of my planned team would be in Sun and not Moon.

It's hard to stay a Moon fan all of a sudden.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

Of the Pokemon that gained new weather abilities, I felt that Pelipper had the biggest improvements. For one, it has a good set of utility moves that ensure it's still useful beyond setting up rain (Defog, Roost, U-turn). Another thing is its ability to utilise the weather offensively, with its Hydro Pump and Hurricane. A downside, of course, is having a double weakness, along with being on the slow side. Still, it has good versatility that synergises well with Rain-based teammates.

The next-best one is Torkoal, who, while don't have Pelipper's recovery, has the advantage of the weather reducing Water damage, which is most definitely welcomed. It is also decent offensively with its Fire STAB, or if no weather changers are present, Solar Beam. In case Pelipper is getting in the way, Torkoal at least has Rock coverage for it. Of course, there's Shell Smash, even if Torkoal is pretty slow. Like Pelipper, it has utility, namely Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin, but sadly no instant recovery.

Gigalith could very well be the most suitable recipient for Sand Stream, though I wish its pre-evolutions also got this ability. Anyway, the obvious thing here is that Gigalith has the Special Defence boost, so it becomes reasonably tanky, though not as tanky as Tyranitar. Sadly, it doesn't learn many moves, but its high defences are sure to give it a degree of longevity. Vanilluxe is cool in that it should have gotten this ability, given that it's difficult to train one (so it makes sense that it gets a great ability). With Hail getting some important abilities to make it more viable, it could be a toss-up between Ninetales and Vanilluxe as setters, as the former is able to set up Aurora Veil, while the latter is much stronger.

What I am most excited for is how most Grass-types introduced thus far have hazard removal. Previously, in a mono-Grass team, the only options were Shiftry (Defog) and Tropius (Defog). The former has limited longevity, while the latter is not particularly powerful. Now? Five of the Grass-type families (out of seven) have a method of hazard removal: Three have Defog, and two has Rapid Spin. A Mono-Ghost team is also appreciative of hazard removal since Drifblim's not the best Pokemon for that. Now? Two new Pokemon has it: one has Defog and one has Rapid Spin. Both those types were lacking in hazard removal, and now they could finally do this.

Looking at the new Pokemon, I know what my new favourite Pokemon is, although I felt that the surprise has already been spoiled, which is a shame. I can't say who it is, but basically this Pokemon has a new ability that gives it a third STAB.

Thanks for reading.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

Something like this;
xtr5CvP.png

Metagross is only if it's actually in Sun, it's possible that it's a moon exclusive which would make Goomy a sun exclusive. In that case I'd swap it out for Alolan Muk or Lycanroc. Maybe Golisopod but that'd leave me with a lot of weaknesses. I'm curious about using Masquerain this gen because of it's +40 stat boost (80->100 special attack / 60->80 speed); the highest increase of any of the pokemon that got a bigger bst. I've never given it a chance either, I've always wrote it off as total garbage.

It could end up differently, Tsareena is literally just a better Lurantis stat-wise (Lurantis gets more special attack but it's effectively wasted stats) so I might just use her but I'd like to give Lurantis a shot. I just wanna use Arcanine because I feel like it. Burn Up is an egg move for it so I won't be doing anything with that. Ninetales because it's dope. Metagross because I think this is the first game that you can get a Beldum at a decent time in-game. Could swap out Masquerain for Golisopod if it still sucks.

my team isn't really set in stone, just sort of poking around to see what I might like using.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

i'm just going to do what i do every gen and figure out my team as i play
however some of my top picks are
toxapex, golisopod, lycanroc, kommo-o, and alolan muk

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

After looking at the base stats, I don't like how slow the starters are.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

i don't really do strategy in pokémon, i just pick the ones that look nice.

although i'll probably just end up having a team full of the first six pokémon i see

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

If anybody wants to know the number of new Pokemon based on type, here's a list:

(Left numbers are completely new ones, right numbers include Alolan forms; Single numbers mean no Alolan forms got this type)
Normal: 12/14
Fire: 7/8
Water: 13
Electric: 6/10
Grass: 13/14
Ice: 1/5
Psychic: 9/10
Dark: 2/8
Dragon: 6/7
Fairy: 12/13
Rock: 4/7
Ground: 4/6
Steel: 5/9
Bug: 11
Fighting: 10
Flying: 8
Ghost: 8/9
Poison: 5/7

Personally, I am surprised at how few Ice-types exist. There is only one new Ice-type, and even if you take into account the Ice-type Alolan forms, there are the least amount of Ice-types. Given Alola's tropical climate, it doesn't come as a surprise. After all, Hoenn have few Ice-types too. At this rate, Ice is the least common type, now beating Ghost (which has a fair amount of new Pokemon).

It's surprising to see that Dark has so few new Pokemon, but it's made up by the number of Alolan forms with this type.

It's nice to see that Electric, Bug and Poison got a nice number of new Pokemon, given the lack of either type in Generation 6, where there were only 3, 3 and 2 respectively. Even they have few Mega Evolutions to make up for the population, with 2, 4 and 3 respectively.

Conversely, it's amazing how there are a lot of Normal-, Water- and Grass-types. The latter two are not surprising, but the former is. Grass is slowly, but surely catching up with Flying as third-most frequent.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

anyone else kinda disappointed all they ended up being was glorified legendary pokemon?

like, i was expecting yokai-watch style boss battles, but was pleasantly surprised you can catch them, however aside from their outrageous stats there's nothing really separating them from normal legendaries aside from lore. i was expecting wacky abilities and triple typing and really out there stuff considering how they're alt dimension pokemon (which is terrifying in itself, and i'd like to see where they go with this)

that being said, i like most of the designs, especially ya boi, buffsquito and big mouth, but the one that interests me the most is necrozma because it doesn't really fit in with the others at all. people have been speculating it might be the third legendary

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

ok can u believe that bibarel now gets aqua jet and swords dance

what the fuck gamefreak

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon (Please put leaks and spoilers in spoil boxes!)

Bibarel with Swords Dance, Aqua Jet and Moody? As TV Tropes would put it: Lethal Joke Character.

Arcanine gets a new move called Burn Up which does huge damage but then makes it normal type

And arcanine can then get stab extremespeed

Wew
Thought I'd follow up on this;
Burn Up turns the pokemon into a ???-type, not normal-type. Still an interesting move but no STAB extreme speed, or STAB anything.

Also it looks like Metagross is probably a Moon exclusive so this might end up being my team instead;
6sX4IDe.png

I love Minior's stats so it's a suitable replacement for Metagross. Shell Smash -> Shields Down -> Fuck shit up -> go out with Explosion if you want to because 100 base atk and 120 base speed and a shell smash boost.

Also here's a link to a google drive thing that you can copy into your drive and use; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q_jNZVhLTuJMO76nJ_25mFmwAQrajcgr8X7J1RjBZWY/edit#gid=525677387

you can see base stats, abilities and the movepools for gen 7. Obviously spoilers since it has it all.

i'm actually considering replacing golem on my team with minior for this reason because galvanize is a hidden ability and would take a while to find with the current new method, and i won't be able to trade evolve right away so :(

plus minior a cute and its stats are impressive for what most people thought would be a gimmickmon
i want a red one because my team is lacking red

ALSO ONE MORE THING
WHY THE FUCK DID GAMEFREAK REMOVE SUPER TRAINING
LIKE SURE IT WAS LONG AND TEDIOUS BUT AT LEAST YOU COULD SEE EVs AND RESET THEM

can they ever get anything right
