Paper Mario: Color Splash

when you quote videos, can you please remove the video in the quotes? thanks.

Was that quote for me or someone else?

You didn't tag my name. So I wouldn't even know if that was at me or some other commentaries.

I'll remove the videos in the quotes next time.

It wasn't specifically directed at you, it's just a general rule of thumb when commenting or posting.

It's to help with load times of other computers and devices that aren't as powerful enough to handle video embeds. Too much video embeds can leave browsers hanging and it's more apparent with weaker computers. It helps to eliminate redundancy as much as possible, unless your post absolutely requires the video context.

True. The website is old but not strong enough to handle that many videos in one post alone.

I wished there was a way for us to donate money to this website and keep it going with new updates and hardware.

Hmm?

Well it's less to do with the website server and more to do with your computer processing power. Regardless, having less content means less things to load, so it helps improve functionality with everyone.

I understand we're getting off topic though...

I'm glad they brought one of my favorite settings from TTYD back
I liked Riverside Station and the background seen from Excess Express, and seeing the train on a rocky desert in the sunset is definitely heartwarming.

is that the excess express???
I don't think so, it looks like a normal train on the inside rather than a luxury train. The setting could either reference Kalimari Desert, the rocky desert of the first Paper Mario or the rocky desert of TTYD, although the sunset make it look more like a reference to TTYD.

While the game looks really nice graphics wise, the gameplay just looks so average, uninspiring and lacks any charm, something sticker star at least had. It almost feels no passion has gone into making this, judging by the few trailers ive seen. I'm hoping i'm proved wrong on this but right now i'm not convinced.

I like them too. Right direction, just needs more effort with other NPCs.

Ah, I hope they won't screw this up ;-; I like the Paper Mario series, and I like the fact that they moved from TTYD's gameplay, which to be honest, would feel more like a M&L rehash at this point. My hopes aren't very high atm though, they'd better do something about all the Toads, add more variety and revamp the gameplay, it doesn't look very entertaining from what I've seen :/

But more importantly, the plot. Please Nintendo, give this one a good plot ;_;

bleh, they gave dream team a higher age rating than other mario & luigis, even though it's pretty much the same game age rating wise.

not the usk (german rating) either.

mario & luigi partners in time got a 0 (superstar saga isnt listed apparently, probably predates their website), bis and dream team got a 6, paper jam a 0 (all the paper mario games got 0 as well iirc, at the very least ttyd - sticker star)

Fun fact: they list pit and bis as action games, while dream team and paper jam are turn based rpgs

The Rescue V segment is a nice surprise that Nintendo posted in their Youtube videos. I hope to see more of those in not only the Paper Mario series, but other series. Original videos that expands on the material and potentially sell others on a game are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Now you have at least a reason to like this game:

While all other paper design were radically changed since Sticker Star, Yoshi's was not and as a result, Yoshi's original design is back (but with the new haircut and white legs)!

where'd you get that from?

That's not his original design, though

Yoshi's 2D artwork tends to be a bit on that side anyway.

The full gameplay video of Dark Bloo Inn, here (but I actually used this cropped version).
I actually just inserted the sprite from the video, then another user did some work on the colors, brightness and contrast to remove the color cast and brighten the image.

I was referring to the proportions, which are those mentioned in the wiki anyway. The cheeks, the crest and the shoes are those of modern Yoshi, but the model's posture and proportions are derived from the past Paper Mario games. Perhaps it's time for an overhaul of the page on the wiki?

also, why is yoshi's legs severed off? it looked fine in thousand-year door.

why do game devs like cutting yoshi's legs off and giving yoshi the rayman syndrome? it looked awful in yoshi's island, it looks awful here, and it'll look awful in the future

granted yoshi's scthick is to look awful generally but still...

I believe we got our first look at Paper Ludwig in this video:

Thanks for reading.

Like in the case of Morton, they are following the style seen in the Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros., but with a less menacing look, in this case probably due to the less pronounced angle of the eyebrows.

I wonder how they'll handle Larry, Wendy and Iggy, since the paper characters mainly had black or one-colored eyes in the series.
