Hm, well, I don't have personal experience with healthcare in general aside from a lot of headaches with insurance covering my Methylphrenidate prescription medication for ADHD, which it seems that they NEVER cover it and the doctor has to keep finding affordable solutions to it. I live on the other side the U.S. (California), honestly. But I think NOT being insured or covered in terms of healthcare is much more costly in the long run. It's why our current system in the U.S. is so costly because of its highly inefficient method of dealing with healthcare, which is mostly on a private level, and the options for these plans, I believe, can be purely overwhelming. Single-payer universal government-run healthcare is an obvious solution that will streamline everything and make the doctors' lives easier, but many people, particularly the Republicans, oppose it for various reasons, some more inane than others, such as "it's socialism".

I don't know, don't you have to kill and consume living things (unless they're grown in a lab) to survive, which would actually make living things more valuable than money without question? Plants and fungi are living things too. Unfortunately, living things also encompass the ugly things too like cancer cells, infections, e-coli, superbugs, specific mosquito species that have little known ecological role aside from spreading diseases, and even viruses if you count that.

oh was that what he meant? so like, essentially, should people have to pay for food or something like that? or is it something else? i don't think i'm understanding the question too well here :P

I have no idea either, the question is so vague and obviously one-sided that I've already pointed out how terribly framed it is. It's like asking if you value good looks or this community/my life more.

Reassignment isn't something life threatening so it shouldn't be covered by government health care, hormones maybe, but reassignment is hardly necessary to trans peoples mental or physical health.

Reassignment isn't something life threatening so it shouldn't be covered by government health care, hormones maybe, but reassignment is hardly necessary to trans peoples mental or physical health.

I'd argue that reassignment is necessary to the transperson's mental health, depending on the circumstances.

Obviously it will mean more to some people than others, but I figure that if you're at the point where you're at risk of self mutilation or severe depression it's probably because of an underlying psychological condition and not purely because of an inability to get reassignment surgery. And that underlying issue is where your and/or the governments money would be best spent in order to properly enrich your life and improve your safety and stability. There is really no reason that the inability to get the surgery should in itself be debilitating to an otherwise mentally healthy person.

This isn't a clear line, though. One thing this reminds me is if insurance should cover ADHD medication or not. It's undeniably true that it does negatively affect lives, but the extent varies wildly from people to people and medication is essential for these people's well-beings. For others, though, people with ADHD may seem to be only underachievers at worst (like me), but there's no doubt that they still struggle a lot. Those can technically live without medication (my sister doesn't take medication, and I often forget but neither of our grades are jeopardized), but their lives will be harder regardless. Government already plays a role in assisting people with ADHD in all the spectrum with intervention or education plans, so... should insurance cover those drugs or not.

I used to eat soft-shell tacos all the time, but at least in Mexican-American fast food joints, I opt for hard shell. But I like soft-shell too.

Speaking of tacos, there was a pizza ad on tv where this little kid had trouble eating a taco. Coming from Mexican heritage, I felt a little insulted by that. Seriously, kid, you don't know how to eat a taco? Get educated.

I only ever make "Tacos" by chucking some meat and sauce in a hard shell and eating it, so technically I prefer hard shell tacos because with a soft shell it's just a wrap.

Because the latter is dumb and patronizing but I wouldn't say racist but if you're calling some random kid racist for actually not knowing how to eat a taco that's a pretty dick move on your end.
