i love irc but can't use it on mobile, hence why discord is my usual

there's plenty of decent irc apps if you need some
 
no they're all not really that useful

it's just because irc is optimal for an "always online" device such as a home pc and a mobile device isn't configured to be "always online"

andchat is good for quick visits, irccloud is good for extended stays (you'll need to make an account for the latter, but it's not much of a hassle)
