Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Actually it's more lots of rabbids but in the mushroom kingdom so it evens out.

Also Opera? Yes please.

Well, this confirms that Bowser Jr. is the main villain, finally he's going to have a central role again!

Bonus points if we see him on foot as well showing his ability to be on par with Mario in terms of moveset, although both the cutscene and the artwork are screaming that we won't see him on foot...

In terms of Marioness, I would wait to see the final game, Ubisoft is being pretty selective on what we can see and the plot has been barely mentioned so far - we mainly know a few key events of Ancient Gardens.

While that would be cool if BJ was the villain, it's not very likely. Most likely it will be some kind of Rabbid Bowser.

Maybe, but what makes you think Junior won't be the main villain? He seems to play a very important role, and I'd even think Junior is the main villain in New Super Mario Bros..

I was about to say because he's already been the main villain once before (ish), but then I remembered that this is the franchise with the same villain every single time. Someone kidnapped the princess? Bowser. Someone took over the nearby kingdoms? Bowser. Someone stole King Kong from the Empire State Building? Bowser. Nintendo probably doesn't care about reusing villains.

Well Bowser is said to specifically be on holiday right now so odds are he'll be absent for at least most of the game with jr pulling the strings.

That's why I think it's Bowser. He's *always* the main villain these days.

Yeah, it's as if he's the central villain of the Mario series or something.

I'm not bothered by it. Give me more Bowser.

Just because someone's the central villain doesn't mean they aren't getting stale.

Look at Kirby! The central villain of that series is Dark Matter, and he hasn't appeared recently (Well, besides his clone in Planet Robobot, but that wasn't the main antagonist of the game at all)! The games are still fun without him!

I'd probably be less angry with Bowser appearing more if he wasn't so one-note. He has no depth. Part of the reason I love Super Mario Sunshine so much is because his character is explored upon a bit more. If he had a personality like in Bowser's Inside Story or the Paper Mario games (besides Sticker Star) it would definitely make the games funnier!

Kirby doesn't have a central villain. Dark Matter maybe the most recurring (which is only like 3 games tops then it stopped because it died) but the vast majority of kirby games are just a bunch of one-offs.

There really isn't much point for Mario to replace Bowser, he's an extremely adaptable character and since Mario isn't story driven he generally only appears for like, 5 minutes at the end.

If you are looking for character depth, you are playing the wrong series.

It doesn't have to be like that, though! Nintendo has shown before they can balance story and gameplay, and I'm sure they could do it again!

I see Jr as the main antagonist in Subshine and NSMB, so him being one again is kinda cool. And if Bowser does show up at the end out of nowhere, that doesn't make him the main antagonist.

Well if the main antagonist driving the plot is not the same as the final boss, I see them both as sharing the main antagonist role (i.e. Dimentio and Count Bleck are both the main antagonists of SPM)

No it doesn't HAVE to be like that but I see no reason for it to go beyond that. There are so many better games out there at telling stories that to me it feels like both a waste of time and resources, something that game development doesn't have an unlimited amount of.

Again, how are they ever going to get better at telling stories if they don't keep trying?

yooooooooo, could you two make a dedicated thread for this or something? Not feeling like reading the same convo in every threads.

Alrighty.

Back on subject, it's amusing to me how Peach is (from what I've seen) the only one of the 8 characters who seems to have dialogue boxes.

Out of the 4 playable Mario characters, she's the one most often given dialogue in other games. And Rabbids don't seem like the type of characters to have extensive dialogue either honestly.

Rabbids say nothing except BWAH so it fits.

Pffffff

Yes I know how much you hate that. :P

If you can go around hating in Super Paper Mario I can go around despising the awkward silence!

Never said you couldn't!

Well Toadette is in the game so thats cool.

Not playable but she is there.
