You know, reading through this topic again, I have to say something important.




As a Yoshi hater myself, you're making me blush, memoryman3.

Yoshi seemed like he was shoehorned into Mario 64 DS to be honest.

IKR? It was shoehorned in Mario Party Advance, Monopoly Gamers Edition, Super Mario Adventures, the Super Mario World cartoon, edible gummies, an airport sign and god forbid Super Mario Fun Picture Book 3: Chaos at the Amusement Park.

The renders don't bother me because they are Mario Party 10/Star Rush models. They made a model of all of the cast now in that style.

Hey, I much prefer Daisy over Yoshi, she is my joint favourite Mario character, but looking at the wider picture, more people like Yoshi than Daisy. And anyway, at the time Yoshi was more open to game opportunities than Daisy, as it was a dinosaur who had new abilities versus a character whose only characteristics were described in the manual and not at all in the game. I think Yoshi's quite cute anyway, I prefer his modern appearance to the old one.

I think he can be cute if he's a mount or with other Yoshi's...not standing up and all upright like he is now.

I've heard this before but I'll never understand it. Mostly because yoshi is so freaking cute in 99% of all aspects.

I think the reason Yoshi is being used here instead of Daisy is because, well, Yoshi is simply a much more unique character than Daisy. Daisy is essentially Peach in the abilities department. Yoshi can bring a lot more gameplay options than Daisy could.

I just think Yoshi is a more familiar face than Daisy and easily more marketable. There's no way right now that Daisy should be used over Yoshi. Or Toad, who I'd think would work better paired with Peach if you're going to divide the people into pairs.

That reminds me, why is Peach commonly paired with a regular Toad now? What happened to Toadsworth? Isn't he supposed to be her steward? He's pretty much Mario & Luigi exclusive at this point. You could say he's not fit for fighting, but he was able to play baseball. If we're going to have a Toad paired with Peach I think it should be him. The standard one can be paired with Toadette.

I'd imagine it's something that has roots back in Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2. And I don't see why Toad shouldn't be paired with Peach even though Toadsworth and Toadette exist, since the pairing still makes sense. Toad is also a big figure and if Toadette and Toadsworth are unused, it seems like Toad holds that spot. There hasn't been a case where Toadette has been playable without Toad.

That being said, I really don't think Yoshi and Peach are partners, just two big characters. Luigi is the second-biggest character arguably (probably competing with Bowser and Peach though) but he happens to be Mario's natural pair. It's from this memoryman makes the non sequitur that Peach and Yoshi HAS to be a pair.

I think it's more that Yoshi is one of Mario's three best friends, along with Luigi and Peach. It's not pairing the spares, but just a bunch of mutual friends of Mario.

Toadsworth is quite the underrated character, come to think of it. He really deserves more appearances.

This is more of a problem with the overarching "let's not use popular spin-off characters in our main series game because we're thick idiots who live in a different reality" mindset that Nintendo has towards their spin-off games and less because they wanted to pair Yoshi with Peach.

Back on topic though and that thing with the Mario Kart 8 multiplayer thing... Those artworks do come separately, that's how they were on my calendar last year. They are just put together to make it multiplayer.
