On November 7th, 2018...
You know, I had a decent thing going for a while there where I'd post a drawing every few months. That, uh... didn't last. I started drawing the idea I was referring to in the above quote at some point in 2019. Since then, I kept telling myself I needed to finish it but I'd work on it a little and then drop it for months before picking it up again. It's not like it's super complicated, though I guess it's more detailed than some of my previous stuff. In any event, I finished it yesterday. Therefore, it's finally time to perform an act of necromancy and bring this thread back from the dead. Oh, by the way, I did draw decent amount during that time, just not on things that would directly go in this thread. Welp, here it is:
Yep, the character I'm theming after right now. Theming after her was a good way to jumpstart me drawing as I didn't want my theme to come and go without posting the drawing. Not only that, but I just got the game she's from for Christmas, so the timing really was impeccable. I've liked Momohime for a long while because she has a rather neat design (with an interesting hairstyle) and I think she's rather pretty. I called her a secondary waifu back in 2018 because she's not far behind the Squid Sisters in my "waifu list" (honestly I should probably use a different term like best girl or videogame crush or whatever, but unfortunately waifu is the most succinct term). Anyway, there's a couple things in this drawing that could look better but I'll give the disclaimer that the actual linework is from 2019 and I think I've improved a bit since then. Regardless, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Well, now that this thread has been resuscitated I might as well post various other artwork I've done while taking my sweet time with the above drawing!
Next up, the drawing of the combination abomination Marioshigi I drew for the Favorite Character award in Mario Awards 2020. Now, Koops did the digitized linework and coloring for the final drawing that was featured in the presentation, but now you get to see the original base version I did on paper! Fun fact, this has some stuff that was not included in the final version, like the speech bubble (and his eyes looking in a different direction because I still can't figure out how to draw forward-looking eyes):
This next one is a drawing I did for a Halloween art trade in a Marie discord server I'm in. It's the OC of someone by the name of @SkyeRoxy who isn't on these forums to my knowledge. Which... makes it feel kinda weird to post it here but I drew this particular picture of her OC so... idk??? In any case here it is:
Next up is a drawing I did for the Rose Garden Secret Santa 2020 of our very own Lakituthequick! This counts as one of the user drawings I've done, which means so far I've done myself, Yoshi the SSM, LeftyGreenMario, BabyLuigiOnFire, Koops, Toadgamer, and now Lakituthequick. I do plan on doing more users in the future so keep an eye out! Oh, and there are two cameos in this picture as well...
Lastly, a picture of the plushie versions of the Squid Sisters in Christmas sweaters that I did for a Christmas art trade in the aforementioned Marie-themed server. Believe it or not, the official plushies of the Squid Sisters have their own popularity among Squid Sisters fans and they even get their own fanart fairly often. This is a pretty niche drawing even for a Splatoon fan but I'm going to subject you all to it anyway:

4 months isn't that long... right?
Behold! New art. In what is likely a surprise to no one, I have drawn a pair of cephalopod women:
As avid followers of this thread (if such a thing exists) may remember, this is not the first time I've drawn Marie. However, I personally think that this one is waaaaay better than the original one I did. Plus, this is first time I've drawn Callie (not counting the plush version of her in the post above). But I had to pay tribute to both of them together, as they belong. I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out. Yeah, the Squid Sisters... I like them a lot..............
Here's individual photos of them from the drawing too as trying to take a photo of an entire paper without the lighting or angle being weird at any point is, as it turns out, difficult.
Okay, that's all I have for now. I'm definitely gonna try to stop taking such long gaps between drawings. It's summer now, so theoretically I should be able to get drawings done more often (emphasis on theoretically). I don't know what it is, but I always start to lose motivation in the coloring phase. Still, I have high hopes for myself in these upcoming months.
But what will I draw next? Probably more video game girls, if I'm being honest with myself. However, I do want to get back into drawing users as I have done several times in this thread before, especially since there were two users who I cryptically implied I was gonna draw almost three years ago and still haven't yet.... Uh, I hope neither of them have been waiting this whole time. I do plan to draw both of you eventually (and a whole bunch of others)! You may or may not know who you are, but I do!

Hellooo people, I'm back again. It's been a little over two weeks since my last update, and that's great! I think this is the fastest turnaround since I started this thread, so I am rather pleased with myself. Anyway, if you've ever played Subspace Emissary in Brawl, you might remember that Zero Suit Samus and Pikachu team up at one point in the story to break out of whatever facility and to beat up Ridley just to rub in the fact that he wasn't a playable character yet. Since then, the two of them have been paired up a lot in fan art with Pikachu being portrayed kind of like Samus's pet. There's a lot of cute and wholesome fan art of the two of them so I decided to join in on that trend:
I based ZSS's design primarily off of Ultimate. She's a bit more muscular in that game than others which I think makes sense with canon, so I tried to incorporate that here. I haven't really drawn people with muscular builds in the past so it was a bit experimental but I think it worked out. It took me a long time to figure out how to get her crossed legs to look right though, had to look up some anatomy references for that. Pikachu was pretty simple unsurprisingly, I just used screenshots of his sleeping animation from Ultimate and copied directly from that. Be careful not to wake him up, by the way.
So yup. I'm really getting into a good groove with drawing so I think you'll be seeing a lot more soon, hopefully with some user drawings included. I may or may not also have drawings show up in a couple other places, but we'll see. Have a good day y'all!

Hiya folks, a little under 3 weeks since my last post. A bit longer than last time but still not bad. I do hope to update it even faster soon since I still have a lot to draw and I feel like it's gonna get much, much slower once school starts, but this'll do for now. So I have a list of about 25 characters that I plan to draw, and so I decided to put them on an online wheel of names to see who to draw next (this is actually how I chose ZSS before). This time it landed on gaming's most famous fighting game woman: Chun-Li!
I don't think it makes a difference but I based her primarily on artwork of Street Fighter II and its excessive re-releases. By coincidence, this is the second muscular lady I've drawn in a row. The artwork was a bit inconsistent about that, but I figured if you're gonna make a living by beating the living daylights out of people everyday, then you're probably going to be a bit ripped. Chun-Li's got an interesting character design because you've kind of got some dissonance with the hair thingies and the very loosely traditional Chinese dress compared to the spike bracelets and her general tough appearance. Somehow it works though. She was fun to draw! Oh and no, I haven't played Street Fighter, unless you count constantly getting Ken when I select Random in Smash Ultimate. (Actually, I have played it for about 30 seconds on an arcade machine once but I digress.)
Alright that's it for now. I will be back hopefully even sooner with more art. Adios!

Wasn't sure if I was gonna post this because it's a gift for someone in a Marie-themed Discord server I'm in, but since I've been trying to keep these updates coming comparatively fast and this is what I've been working on since the last update, I might as well do so. Basically this is an idol pair like the Squid Sisters or Off the Hook but fanmade by someone called MaddyTheTrashcan. Their band name is the Crystal Cephalopods and their names are Mizu and Akai. If you wanna see more of them, here's her Twitter (do note that while her account is sfw there's some slightly suggestive stuff on it). So yeh, if you are a Splatoon fan this might interest you especially but otherwise here's some relatively unique Inklings!
Anyway, part of the reason I wanted to post this here despite not being as relevant in this community is that I feel like I've gotten a lot better at making the outlines darker when surrounded by dark colors. If you'll remember by Squid Sisters art from a few months back, that one kind of suffered from the linework looking a bit faded compared to the dark colors of their outfits. Thus, for this one I made an effort to make the lines dark while still using a mechanical pencil. Such are the struggles of traditional art! Anyway, I really do feel like I'm improving with every drawing I make and I've been quite satisfied with my results the past few months. I'mma keep at it!

Ok here is my next art. It has been only a week and a half since the last update so we're going fast! It might be a bit longer for the next one due to presentations and such, but for now, here's Rosa from Pokemon!
You may interpret this as a reference to Sheep Mafia if you so desire but it is not inherently so. In any event, Snivy (Snividoodle?) is not pleased with being stuck in the pokeball. Anyway Rosa's my favorite Pokegirl so I had to give her a draw. I did some actual shading with this one so I think it helped enhance it a little. Unfortunately shading makes things a little bit more complicated but I guess not excessively so. I think I made her hair a lot longer than it usual is but take it as artistic license, yeah?
Oh, I have a bonus Marie doodle as well that I did for an art collab. Nothing major but interestingly enough it actually resembles my scribbles from Scribble Tourney a bit.

Ok peeps, it's 2022, somehow, so it's time for me to dump all the art I did in the past 6 months. Most of it didn't end up here earlier because it was for a specific purpose here or in an another community, but it doesn't hurt to throw it all here as well.

First off, we have my drawings from the deathmatch that needs no introduction: Scribble Tourney from Awards 2021! Originally, I was going to rip-off WT's idea and do discussions and explanations for each one, but it's been so long since the tourney that I don't think I'm gonna bother now. Maybe I'll say a few words about them if they come to mind though.
Round 1

Jeb is always a good play.
Round 2
Prompt: Goomba Towers
This one took a while to get right, but the end result is fun. Note all the special goomba faces, some of which may be references to other "well-known emojis". It also spawned ideas for at least one other scribble by other people so that was pretty rad.
Round 3 - You Are Already Edited
Prompt: The 'Shroom Spotlight
I really went hard with this one. Probably my favorite of mine from the whole tourney. Honestly though, they do look kinda menacing even in the actual 'Shroom artwork. I can't be the only one who sees that, right?

This is my flattering rendition of Perch's daily existence. Along with a stupid pun. My apologies to Perch for making him look like an overworked, haggard janitor. I'm sure that's not what being a forum mod is like at all. (Remember to thank a mod today if you haven't already.)
Round 5 - Daddy, What's Dang On Opera?
Prompt: Bowser and Bowser Jr.
Yet another case of using memes to my advantage, this time the Parental Controls video thing. I used some slightly creative coloring techniques that I think helps this one stand out more. Also a truly inspired choice of title for this one. Pandering to other people's senses of humor works out pretty well for this sort of thing, which is kind of a recurring theme here....
Round 6
Prompt: Presenting Mario and the Princess in Bubble Baths and Shampoos
This was a really weird prompt that I definitely struggled with. In fact, this one ended up pretty rushed because I scrapped my original idea for being more edgy than I usually am (it wasn't that bad, I'm just not very edgy in general so it's a low bar). It also just wasn't that funny, so there's that too. A prototype still exists for it, but only GBA has ever seen it. I ain't gonna post it here, but I guess you can dm me if you really wanna see it for some reason. Regardless of all that, this one still ended up being nicely Tim Burton-esque.
Round 7
Prompt: Our Sanity Is In Another Castle
I tried to emulate that anime fish-eye thing for demonstrating the insanity caused by the voices in Toad's had. It turned out fairly well. Carrying on the theme of black backgrounds and slightly manacing/disturbing scribbles from me.

Firstly, the ones I did for C2 - Favorite Retired 'Shroom Writer, a collab presentation between me and Pitohui! He did the idea for the award and all the writing and I did the artwork. It was fun drawing the pictures from his ideas as that's not something I've really done before. Also, these qualify as artwork for SMB, Zelen, and Toadbert, so that's three more users I've now drawn!
Here's the "A" man himself SMB giving some engaging oratory in the 2021 Poll Committee Election (you can't see it, but I'm off to the side next to BLOF honking like a madman). I had fun with shadows here, trying to make the picture look a bit dramatic. I also actually took the photo at an angle in order to make the perspective more extreme, so that it really looks like the viewer is standing in the crowd looking up at the stage. For not really having a whole lot of experience with shadows and perspective, I think it came out more or less the way it was intended. Though he did end up unintentionally looking almost a little insidious, but that's what you get for having red eyes!
Zelen and her motley crew of various beetles and other bugs and insect! This drawing is supposed to give the impression of spying on the subject from the bushes, which is what our investigator in Pito's story does. Once again, fun with various colors of leaves, lighting, and shading. It's very Green, which is approprite given who we're dealing with here. I think it turned out a bit yellower than maybe I'd prefer (or at least the photo did, anyway) but even so it manages to be pretty vibrant. I actually did some reconnaissance for this drawing by innocently asking Zelen whether she would want to keep the cape from GBA's Scribble artwork as part of her OC design without giving away why I was asking. She didn't suspect at the time, but Pitohui knew exactly what I was doing! One of the things I enjoy the most about drawing other people's OCs is making sure I base it off the most recent, detailed, and accurate version of the character but also at times trying to combine multiple iterations of them into one that best represents the overall character. I don't know that I've explicitly done that a ton here, but there are some examples like giving the clipboard to Yoshi the SSM several years back and some smaller elements of design to that inkling idol OC fanart I drew in the summer. And there's a few ideas I have for certain OCs I haven't drawn yet that are like that....
Who... is the man in the suit? Toadbert, obviously. This drawing is from the perspective of discreetly taking a photograph through a conference room window of an unknowing shifty businessman waiting for his secret meeting. I think this the most full scene of the three pictures I drew for this presentation, and I like it. It was slightly rushed as you might see in some of the linework of background objects, but regardless I'm pretty proud of this drawing for taking me a bit further than I usually tend to go. Obviously I've still got a long way to go before I'm making stuff that looks truly fantastic and there's still elements that look kinda amateurish in most of my drawings, but you know what? Just the fact that I'm half-decent at drawing is really good enough for me. I can reasonably be called an "artist", whatever that means. Well, I guess anyone who makes art can be called that, but I digress. Point is, I'm pretty pleased with the progress I made with my art skills in 2021. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. WHO... IS THE GENT WITH THE POLE?

Next up, my art for M2 - Favorite Mario Kart Game, with its arbitrary use of Mafia and KG rps! Well, they were the cool hip thing last year and I've devoted a decent degree of mental space and enjoyment to them so doesn't hurt to pay tribute to a few of em, eh?
Morris and Shmaluigi go head-to-head yet again, this time not in a deadly battle of wits and persuasion, but in a... kart race! Okay yeah, that honestly sounds less impressive but bear with me. Anyway, a couple details of note here. Antigravity is obviously the gimmick here because it's MK8D. Morris is driving the Mr. Scooty, because it felt appropriate for the dweeby posh city-dweller that he is. Also, Morris's expression is indeed based directly on one of his sprites fromPitohui's Sheep Mafia roleplay Stardew Valley. Shmaluigi's driving the City Tripper because... uh, I guess it feels like a bike you'd drive to get around New Wikisburg. No super deep reasoning here. However! There is another important detail here. The blue and black coloration happens to exactly match the bike of a certain gangly mustachioed purple-capped individual in MK8D. This can only mean one thing... Shmaluigi stole Ludwig's bike! As Ludwig would say, Ohhh! (Hrm, that's a hard noise to write as text.) Finally, the humorous irony of this image: Shmaluigi is experiencing cathartic schadenfreude at Morris's glasses falling from his head due to the antigravity, but in the process of laughing at this spectacle he fails to notice that the very same misfortune is befalling him as his hat slips off into the void! Once again, Shmaluigi's hubris catches up with him....
The AKG4 inherited CEOs (minus The Big Five because another character(s) would be too crowded and because The Big Five would be harder to represent in drawing form since you'd have to have them appear above Tristan in ghost form or something I'm sorry Perch ily) in Mario Kart Wii! Hence the ramp that Beedle is, uh, enjoying driving off of. Beedle is based off of BOTW design despite me using all his designs interchangeably in AKG4. More importantly, he is driving the MOREL company car, based directly on TPG's 3D models and the logo designs! Meanwhile, in order to represent the bike aspect of MKW, Ernest Fine (whom sparkles literally emanate from) is driving the Mach Bike. This is fitting because... uh... the Mach Bike is cool and fast and therefore handsome and hot, just like Fine? It made sense in my mind. If you'll look closely, however, you'll see that the emblem is in fact the BUFF company logo! Vera Misham is driving something but it is conveniently off-camera (because drawing vehicles is a pain). Misham looks very, very done with this whole thing, and I wouldn't blame her when she had to carry the investigation half the time.
Finally, the RiR/Double Dash one. This has gotta be my favorite drawing of this bunch because it's just jampacked with references. Firstly, we have the two Double Dash style teams here: Ema Skye and Godot vs. the Erudite Goose and Shmaluigi. This directly corresponds with Mafia vs Innos from RiR and represents some of the key players from that game (with some notable exclusions such as Fulbright). Pitohui and Alex both played really well as mafia in RiR, both of them keeping the innos on their toes and putting up quite the fight despite the balance of the game, er, not really treating the team well at all. This great play is represented here by their aggressive slamming into the ShmaluGoose car, almost knocking the latter over in the process. Given these two players being the MVPs of the mafia team and working together to keep the innos fooled until the Unmatched Flair-Cop one-two punch did them in, I think it makes a lot of sense to pair Ema and Godot together Double Dash style. Similarly, me and Waluigi Time worked together to unmask the mafia by me using Unmatched Flair to confirm him and him proceeding to then confirm the rest of the roles in the game as the cop, a chain of events that was admittedly really broken but still made for an exciting and tense game. We definetely felt like a team here, so that's where the Shmaluigi-Goose team comes from.
But wait! There's more references to be had in this drawing! The Mafia Kart is based on the Turbo Yoshi from Double Dash, but with some noticeable modifications: it's a kart version of Cat Glitz Yoshi, Yoshi the SSM's rp as a mafia member in RiR! I'm so glad I came up with that one, thus representing 3/4 of the RiR Mafia team (sorry, Trab). Meawhile, the Inno Kart looks is of course a fully original design that isn't just the Waluigi Racer from Double Dash with Groucho Marx glasses. Some people thought it was supposed to be Glowsquid's OC, which... I can kinda see, but I assure you it was fully unintentional. Maybe it's some inadvertent convergence with an alternate universe where Glowsquid played RiRthis is starting to remind me of Pitohui's secret satan gift for TFP. Anyway, onto the Special items! We see both Ema and the Goose's special items here. Ema has a beaker of some sort of green liquid, similar to some of the science things that Ema can be seen with in her sprites from AA. This also fits with the various science-y substances Pito mentioned at various points in his rp. Meanwhile, for the Goose's item I was originally just going to give him some goose eggs to throw, but then I had the brilliant idea to give them Ms. Mowz's mask, thus representing both my rp as well as the rolecard character! Even better, he has three Mowz Eggs, just like you could check three people at a time in RiR with the Unmatched Flair role!!!! Okay okay, I'll calm down. Finally, a note on Shmaluigi's design. He's missing his iconic overcoat, isn't he? This is no oversight-- the sprites for Shmaluigi in RiR were in fact edited artwork rather than art drawn by WT, and he did indeed lack the overcoat back then, not getting it until Sheep Mafia. I checked with WT and confirmed that it is indeed canon that Shmaluigi did not have an overcoat in RiR!
And that's finally it for this drawing! Sorry if I geeked out a bit hard there, but I love RiR and all the rps from it and I love Double Dash, and being able to represent the main elements of both RiR and MK:DD in such a cohesive way that works so well together was just awesome. Honestly, I think RiR is still my favorite post-revival mafia game and the one I look back on most fondly despite all the great games that have come since, and I think this drawing pays tribute to the great experience I had with that game as well as some of the users who I got to know better through it.

Alright, that's it for Awards stuff (finally). Next, we have various art I drew over the past 6 months for the Marie server that I've mentioned previously. It's called Everything Marie, and beyond the obvious Marie simping, it has a big focus on art and Splatoon OCs. I don't have much in the way of Splatoon OCs, but I do like seeing what characters other people come up with. The next few pieces are from an art trade a few users did in I think August or September where one person drew the other's OC and vice versa.
This one's from a guy named ICN64 who has an Inkling named Angie. I tried to emulate his artstyle and did an alarmingly good job at recreating it. Emulating other people's artstyles is something I seem to be decently good at doing actually, as it's come out with some of the other drawings I've done for people in this server. But I'm gonna be honest here, this guy draws some "interestingly" proportioned Inklings. I would link his Twitter since he's a semi-popuIar artist in the Splatoon community but... I honestly don't feel like it, because although it's SFW iirc, I still toned down the artstyle quite a bit for this. Search it up if you want, but know what you're getting into. Regardless of the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of his artstyle, I still enjoyed drawing this as a kind of experiment, and it was interesting to see how it turned out especially since it was traditional instead of his usual digital.
This is an unnamed Octoling oc from a guy named Jay. Her design is something you can easily whip up in game by having a female Octoling with this hairstyle, ink color, and eye color as well as equipping the Splatoon 2 enemy Octoling gear (forget what the formal name for it is). That's honestly what a lot of people's Splatoon ocs are, just basic Inklings and Octolings with various different in-game gear combinations. They then develop the personality and such from there (hopefully), but I tend to prefer ones that look a little more visually distinct such as the idol pair I posted a drawing of previously in this thread (i.e., ones you can't accurately represent using in-game customization options). However, that's no offense to this here Octo or any other similar oc. After all, you gotta start somewhere, right? Anyway, I will say this one gave me some trouble just because whenever you have to color something black with colored pencils, then it's really hard to get the outlines to look thick enough. It's a bit of a pain, but I think it turned out looking better for it in the end. I based this off the normal Splatoon in-game artstyle and I'm satisfied with it as my first Octoling drawing.
Remember what I was saying about unique Splatoon OCs? Well this is a very unique one! Anisa (by someone named Robusta) is a nudibranch, a sea creature that doesn't show up in Splatoon at all (or at least not with a design like this). Robusta got very creative with this one! Drawing this character was definitely a fun divergence from the types of characters I usually draw.
Moving on, we have another drawing I did in September of the very same idol pair by MaddyTheTrashcan that you've seen before, Mizu and Akai or the Crystal Cephalopods! I did this one for a DTIYS (Draw This In Your Style) contest thing... and then Twitter decided not to display by post when she was looking for the contestants on the hashtag she used. That was a bit of a bummer, but when I told her she added me as a runner-up (everyone who didn't win was a runner-up as there were only a few entries). Despite that mishap, it was fun to draw, especially getting a bit creative with the background. I quite like her ocs as well. I think she does a good job of differentiating them from the average Inkling and giving them fleshed out personality and backstory (which you obviously can't tell exactly tell here but whatever). Don't be surprised if some of her other characters end up showing up in this thread later on.
This is a Secret Santa request from someone called Bepsi from the recent Everything Marie Secret Santa. It has her so-called "Inksona" with her actual, real-life cat named Lucy. My cat anatomy may need some practice but the holding pose ended up not looking terrible with a few adjustments. Oh actually, that was not the last one (thankfully), as I have a couple Bonuses. Firstly, here's a doodle I did in an art collab last month in EM, kinda like the Marie doodle from my last post. However... this is an unknown character. Well, she happens to be of an OC of mine named Serenity. If you saw my Discord pfp in like May/June, then you've seen her before (also I think I've told a very few people from here about her before). She is one of a group of OCs I've had for a long time that I haven't really publicized here, and I've only barely publicized them in a couple other places (the EM server being one of them). There's a couple reasons for this, one of which being they kind of exist in a void as I don't really know what to use them for (and they're not based on any existing franchise). I might eventually show them off more, but eh, we'll see. Actually, if Longform RP ever makes a comeback, I might be using them.... But for now, if you're curious about them, feel free to ask me about them in dms.
Finally, the last thing isn't actually an art piece, but one of those trendy art summary things that people like to do where they take what they consider their best piece of art from each month of the year and put on a larger image. I decided it might be fun to try it out so here's that:
Oh yeah, this actually has some more art of some of the OCs from Feb. - Apr. including the actual full colored art for Serenity so there's that. There's a trend of a lack of art from the heaviest school months, as can be seen from Feb and Mar only having uncolored drawings on notebook paper and Oct and Nov having absolutely nothing. Anyway, I think this does show some improvement in my art, specifically in things like posing, sharpness of lines and colors, and simply the lighting I take the photos of the drawings in (lol). If you look at the Momohime drawing from January compared to the stuff from the summer and onward (even if I started the former way earlier than that), I think I've made some big improvements this year and I've certainly become more motivated to draw as I've seen that improvement. I do feel like my style when I'm drawing something that isn't based on an outside source needs some work, because it often ends up looking simplistic and maybe overly cartoony, actually. And if I'm being honest, seeing this summary is kind of sobering because, well, there's an obvious trend in the subject matter I tend to draw. Toadbert over there in August looks a bit out of place with the rest of these, doesn't he? I'm not sure how to feel about this tbh. But... that gets into a whole bunch of other complicated thoughts about the relationship between online and irl self and the "cultural" differences between different online communities, so maybe I better just stop here before I start rambling.

I really went hard with this one. Probably my favorite of mine from the whole tourney. Honestly though, they do look kinda menacing even in the actual 'Shroom artwork. I can't be the only one who sees that, right?

Yet another case of using memes to my advantage, this time the Parental Controls video thing. I used some slightly creative coloring techniques that I think helps this one stand out more. Also a truly inspired choice of title for this one. Pandering to other people's senses of humor works out pretty well for this sort of thing, which is kind of a recurring theme here....

This was a really weird prompt that I definitely struggled with. In fact, this one ended up pretty rushed because I scrapped my original idea for being more edgy than I usually am (it wasn't that bad, I'm just not very edgy in general so it's a low bar). It also just wasn't that funny, so there's that too. A prototype still exists for it, but only GBA has ever seen it. I ain't gonna post it here, but I guess you can dm me if you really wanna see it for some reason. Regardless of all that, this one still ended up being nicely Tim Burton-esque.

I tried to emulate that anime fish-eye thing for demonstrating the insanity caused by the voices in Toad's had. It turned out fairly well. Carrying on the theme of black backgrounds and slightly manacing/disturbing scribbles from me.

Firstly, the ones I did for C2 - Favorite Retired 'Shroom Writer, a collab presentation between me and Pitohui! He did the idea for the award and all the writing and I did the artwork. It was fun drawing the pictures from his ideas as that's not something I've really done before. Also, these qualify as artwork for SMB, Zelen, and Toadbert, so that's three more users I've now drawn!
Here's the "A" man himself SMB giving some engaging oratory in the 2021 Poll Committee Election (you can't see it, but I'm off to the side next to BLOF honking like a madman). I had fun with shadows here, trying to make the picture look a bit dramatic. I also actually took the photo at an angle in order to make the perspective more extreme, so that it really looks like the viewer is standing in the crowd looking up at the stage. For not really having a whole lot of experience with shadows and perspective, I think it came out more or less the way it was intended. Though he did end up unintentionally looking almost a little insidious, but that's what you get for having red eyes!
Zelen and her motley crew of various beetles and other bugs and insect! This drawing is supposed to give the impression of spying on the subject from the bushes, which is what our investigator in Pito's story does. Once again, fun with various colors of leaves, lighting, and shading. It's very Green, which is approprite given who we're dealing with here. I think it turned out a bit yellower than maybe I'd prefer (or at least the photo did, anyway) but even so it manages to be pretty vibrant. I actually did some reconnaissance for this drawing by innocently asking Zelen whether she would want to keep the cape from GBA's Scribble artwork as part of her OC design without giving away why I was asking. She didn't suspect at the time, but Pitohui knew exactly what I was doing! One of the things I enjoy the most about drawing other people's OCs is making sure I base it off the most recent, detailed, and accurate version of the character but also at times trying to combine multiple iterations of them into one that best represents the overall character. I don't know that I've explicitly done that a ton here, but there are some examples like giving the clipboard to Yoshi the SSM several years back and some smaller elements of design to that inkling idol OC fanart I drew in the summer. And there's a few ideas I have for certain OCs I haven't drawn yet that are like that....
Who... is the man in the suit? Toadbert, obviously. This drawing is from the perspective of discreetly taking a photograph through a conference room window of an unknowing shifty businessman waiting for his secret meeting. I think this the most full scene of the three pictures I drew for this presentation, and I like it. It was slightly rushed as you might see in some of the linework of background objects, but regardless I'm pretty proud of this drawing for taking me a bit further than I usually tend to go. Obviously I've still got a long way to go before I'm making stuff that looks truly fantastic and there's still elements that look kinda amateurish in most of my drawings, but you know what? Just the fact that I'm half-decent at drawing is really good enough for me. I can reasonably be called an "artist", whatever that means. Well, I guess anyone who makes art can be called that, but I digress. Point is, I'm pretty pleased with the progress I made with my art skills in 2021. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. WHO... IS THE GENT WITH THE POLE?

Next up, my art for M2 - Favorite Mario Kart Game, with its arbitrary use of Mafia and KG rps! Well, they were the cool hip thing last year and I've devoted a decent degree of mental space and enjoyment to them so doesn't hurt to pay tribute to a few of em, eh?
Morris and Shmaluigi go head-to-head yet again, this time not in a deadly battle of wits and persuasion, but in a... kart race! Okay yeah, that honestly sounds less impressive but bear with me. Anyway, a couple details of note here. Antigravity is obviously the gimmick here because it's MK8D. Morris is driving the Mr. Scooty, because it felt appropriate for the dweeby posh city-dweller that he is. Also, Morris's expression is indeed based directly on one of his sprites from
The AKG4 inherited CEOs (minus The Big Five because another character(s) would be too crowded and because The Big Five would be harder to represent in drawing form since you'd have to have them appear above Tristan in ghost form or something I'm sorry Perch ily) in Mario Kart Wii! Hence the ramp that Beedle is, uh, enjoying driving off of. Beedle is based off of BOTW design despite me using all his designs interchangeably in AKG4. More importantly, he is driving the MOREL company car, based directly on TPG's 3D models and the logo designs! Meanwhile, in order to represent the bike aspect of MKW, Ernest Fine (whom sparkles literally emanate from) is driving the Mach Bike. This is fitting because... uh... the Mach Bike is cool and fast and therefore handsome and hot, just like Fine? It made sense in my mind. If you'll look closely, however, you'll see that the emblem is in fact the BUFF company logo! Vera Misham is driving something but it is conveniently off-camera (because drawing vehicles is a pain). Misham looks very, very done with this whole thing, and I wouldn't blame her when she had to carry the investigation half the time.
Finally, the RiR/Double Dash one. This has gotta be my favorite drawing of this bunch because it's just jampacked with references. Firstly, we have the two Double Dash style teams here: Ema Skye and Godot vs. the Erudite Goose and Shmaluigi.
