Is the Marioverse even an official term?

We use this term commonly on the wiki, yet I don't believe I've ever played a Mario game mentioning the word "Marioverse".
 
It refers to the Mario Universe. Mario games, Mario Comic books, Mario TV shows, etc.
 
It's just a word we made that relates to the merchandise. Like for example, one could say there is a Wikiverse of sorts in our community.

Apparently, they think they're in the real world...

This excludes all forth wall breaking.
