She's an animu tomboy. Ala Misty from Pokemon. You need to remember that Japanese sex roles haven't developed in the same way as Western ones. Just being aggressive enough with an interest in male fields can get you the tomboy label.
 
except Misty/Kasumi is not really a tomboy?

Reminder this is the same character that had a complex for not being as beautiful and good gym leader as her older sisters.

Eventually Misty even did the whole mermaid thing and became ''beautiful'' like she wanted.

Not a good comparison.

Daisy has never been a tomboy per see as opposed to how she is often described. All of her winks and kisses to the camera and girly behavior even in sports games is just a bad imitation to what Peach has always done since day 1.

This is why Daisy is a clone of Peach in Smash, it's just so easy to see her being as girly as Peach and it fits , plain and simple.

She even dances and does that Sailor Moon style pose, epitome of girly.
 
Anime Misty is not game Misty.

That being said she certainly looked a lot girlier in the remakes.

Though she seems to have her tomboyish look again in Go.

None of this gives Daisy any points though. The only game in which Daisy can be called something close to a tomboy is the Strikers games, but even then she loves the attention just as much as Peach does.

The rest of the games is her being Peach.
 
Hey I ain't defending Daisy. I agree she is nothing but an orange Peach.
