Let's speculate why are these Final Smashes replaced

So in Ultimate, most Final Smashes that require control the character had been modified to, or replaced with an automatic move, but there are few retired Final Smashes that the player still didn't need to control them. So, in this thread, post your opinions about why are such Final Smashes had been retired.

I go first:

Triforce Slash (Link): The presence of the Triforce would be implausible due to they do not appear at all in Breath of the Wild, much like his grab.
Light Arrow (Zelda/Sheik): Too similar to Link's Ancient Bow and Arrow, considering the fact that all of their users hails from the same series.
Galaxia Darkness (Meta Knight): The operation that trapping the opponent inside MK's cape would be difficult for the beginners.
Super Diffusion Beam (R.O.B.): Too similar to Samus, Dark Samus and Mii Gunner's Final Smashes, changed to distinguish from them.

If the reason Light arrow isn't in this game is because of similarity within the reps of a series, then tell me why all three Star Fox characters have the same Final Smash.

It does boggle the mind why Pit's Final Smash got changed to the Lightning Chariot. The Three Sacred Treasures were the main reason as to why Dark Pit was made into a separate character, but changing Three Sacred Treasures to Lightning Chariot pretty much destroys the whole purpose of separating Dark Pit from Pit; they can both ride on it in Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Let's not forget that the Dark Pit Staff operated in pretty much the same way as the Light Arrow. But what does set Link's Ancient Bow and Arrow apart from the Dark Pit Staff is the fact that it can only affect one fighter (bystanders can be caught in the explosion though).

Main reason why the Final Smashes changed were to have them not take too long. Sakurai even said this, saying something like he wanted the players to get right back into the action.

The Triforce does appear in BotW, though not as a physical object. They likely changed it to be more fitting with BotW.
Light Arrow (Zelda/Sheik): Too similar to Link's Ancient Bow and Arrow, considering the fact that all of their users hails from the same series.
iirc the Light Arrow does not appear in A Link to the Past nor A Link Between Worlds. The Triforce of Wisdom is a far better move.
Sheik's is to incorporate something ninja-y.
Galaxia Darkness (Meta Knight): The operation that trapping the opponent inside MK's cape would be difficult for the beginners.
I don't really understand your point, as it's the same thing as, say, Ike's. But I don't understand the change either, as it takes longer than the original one.
Super Diffusion Beam (R.O.B.): Too similar to Samus, Dark Samus and Mii Gunner's Final Smashes, changed to distinguish from them.
R.O.B.'s is just cooler :P

I see this as a progression within Kid Icarus itself. Pit calls down Palutena's Army in Brawl, equips the Three Sacred Treasures in 4, and uses the Lightning Chariot in Ultimate. Should another Smash game ever happen, I'm expecting the Great Sacred Treasure as Pit's next Final Smash.

Anyway, for the rest:
  • Donkey Kong: Bongo Drums are terrible on a moving stage and they aren't very strong. Doesn't match DK's strength in a fighting game at all.
  • Yoshi/Bowser/Wario/Lucario/Fox/Diddy Kong/Mr. G&W/Little Mac/etc.: Removing playable Final Smashes to make them end quicker.
  • Pikachu/Sonic: Volt Tackle and Super Sonic were honestly kinda hard to control properly. Pikachu's I think is better, but Sonic's isn't very good.
  • Snake: Simply just added more frequent rockets.
  • King Dedede: Just a flashier attack.

For those that should've had a different Final Smash:
  • Young Link: Final Smash should've had Fierce Deity Link at least.
  • Robin: Chrom being in Robin's Final Smash makes no sense now. Imagine being able to call down Grima.
  • Dark Samus: Her attack is powerful, but even Chrom got something different, so Dark Samus's Final Smash should've used something original.

I prefer Ness's Smash 4 Final Smash. It's more controllable and it leads to a lot less SDs. :P

Echo Fighters, or any kind of clones are fine. "Cloned" Final Smashes with some actual differences (e.g. Mario Finale has the flame effect, Doctor Finale has higher damage and knockback, Wii Fit has a noticeable finisher, and Final Edge produce large numbers of projectiles) are also okay. I think Light Arrow is too difficult to declone it from Ancient Bow and Arrow because Dark Pit Staff is already what Doctor Finale is to Mario Finale, so it would be redundant, especially with Sheik's version, which already has slightly different properties compared to Zelda's.
