Honestly still not a real fan of the realistic details, Peach looks alright but IDK I just think cartoons should be allowed to be cartoons, you know? (Before anyone says anything: of course I know this movie is animated and is a cartoon, but I'm speaking more 'Why does a cartoon movie need realistic details like the hair and clothing? It's a cartoon, not real life.'

Would people complain if Mario looked exactly like he does in the games in this movie without any tweaks to his design?

Honestly they probably would tbh but nerds will complain about anything.
 
I'll be blunt here: never played Mario Odyssey but checking back at screenshots and videos, yeah it is more 'realistic' levels of detail, but I think the fact that SMO was created to run on a relatively low-powered handheld compared to being made for a big budget Hollywood movie helps make it less jarring to me. (I knew the renders for Odyssey were more detailed than previous Mario renders, but I completely forgot the game itself was more detailed like that too tbh lmao, like I said I've never played it)

IDK I guess I just have very specific preferences on what I wanted the Mario movie to look like and this really ain't it for me.
 
It just looks... really okay and average. Like there's nothing really exciting here, but there's nothing outright shockingly bad to laugh at or complain about. It's just Illumination doing what they do best, marking harmless inoffensive films, just now with a mario skin on top.

and dang i guess that leaked render was just partic unflattering because this image of mario standing there ive been seeing hes actually really cute i didnt expect him to be such a scrunkler
Which makes me less ready to hear the apparent Generic Guy Voice But Maybe Theres An Accent In There. i am not ready

I like it. Looks like a fun family film.

Which considering the source material and video game movie's general reputation and quality....thats a lot better than it could be.
 
I really loved the trailer. I find it a love letter to the overall Mario series, and the whole ice kingdom with the penguins complete with a penguin king? That's touche. Really love seeing those characters get acknowledged, and it makes me yearn for an entire kingdom or world based off them, and now I really want the penguin king to be playable in a Mario game. We need more friendly NPCs after all.

Keegan Michael Key does a pretty spot-on voice for Toad, and he actually sounds like a person here rather than like, a scratchy high pitched voice. Hope we get to hear more Toad screaming in the film, Key can do great screams and I want to hear him scream as Toad.

Chris Pratt Mario is just...a bit eh? Then again I don't really have all that much emotional attachment to Mario so but he sounds just like Chris Pratt. Have to hear more from him but he's not as impressive as the others.

I saw Paratroopas in Bowser's army and a Koopa with a Blue Spiny Shell, hell the Koopa Troop kinda remind me of the Romans from Asterix.
 
Wow, I think that I was right. I think that I will like the movie voice actors more than the video game VAs.

I like Bowser's voice, it fits him and he sounds intimidating. Chris Pratt's Mario voice sounds pretty good, I think that I prefer this over the high-pitched Mickey Mousey voice Mario has in the games. Toad sounds like a boy, definitely better than Sam Kelly. Although I think what bothers me about Toad's voice in the games is that they keep reusing the same voice clips over and over again.
 
Thankfully, Mario looks off simply because at Illumination they love to superdeform things to emphasize actions and emotions, he looks better in the movie (but in that artwork he's pretty unwatchable to be honest). Very good that they gave the penguins spotlight getting a few hints from Super Mario Galaxy and I agree that the Koopa army will be very comical in action (we already saw some being hit by the snowballs…). Pretty obviously Bowser will steal the spotlight - he already did in this trailer - but I would be hypocritical if I didn't admit that I'm 100% fine with that. Overall, a good teaser.

Can't say a lot about the voice acting though as I'll need to hear with my headphones first.

I'm kinda excited. That's a lie. I'm very excited.
 
super cool teaser, movie's gonna be a fun watch. (i love the naturalistic render of the mushrooms, absolute eye candy)

can't wait to see/hear dk, cranky, and foreman spike in this

The movie looks absolutely amazing, I love all the new designs and I think ALL of the voices fit their characters perfectly. Even Mario's. I think it's better to have a normal voice than the Italian accent because it would be really annoying to hear that for the whole movie. The animation looks fantastic and really expressive, and it'll be a joy to watch for the whole movie. Also, the environments look stunning, the poster was excellent but the new shots of the Mushroom Kingdom are beautiful.

Actually, the voices in the Mexican dub are really good and I just love Mario's voice, it's probably the first movie I want to watch in both English and Spanish

The fact we're ACTUALLY getting a Mario feature film still feels surreal and I can't wait to watch it (it comes out a week early here in Mexico)
