Well, HDMI has this technology, Lakitu.
I mean, when I start my Xbox 360, it won't show you the Boot Screen, until you turn on the TV.
It doesn't happen if I have it connected on Composite Cables, though.
So the Wii U is technically able to detect if the TV is on, but it doesn't.
