i mean, on occasion you'll hear someone jokingly say happy birthday when it's not actually someone's birthday, but it's not really something you say when someone does something good

and him smoking right in front of you is "doing harm"?

and the fact that he's a doctor of the body means that he had to take the hypocratic oath and can therefore do no harm and should therefore not be smoking in front of you, letting you absorb some of the dangerous toxins stored in second hand smoke, and eventually shortening your lifespan by about ten days due to some statistics that i just made up?

Most medical students take the Hippocratic Oath or a similar oath, but as far as I'm aware, there's no legal obligation to do so.

That guy is an idiot, and the people who allow him to do it are idiots too.

No he isn't. He's conducting an experiment to locate people who have particularly strong negative reactions to cigarette smoke so that he can claim the reactions are due to something else and profit off of these people.
