Princess Peach Showtime

Well, for one thing, when I played this demo at my local Gamestop this past Saturday, I found the Theets to be cutely hilarious. Especially in the case of the "Festival of Sweets" stage.

I'm sure they're going to be fun loving for the entire game.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with Peach's voice. Like a lot of people are saying, she's just changing her pitch for each of the transformations. It could just be me, but your complaints seem a little nitpicky. It's still the same VA, you'll get used to it after a while even if it sounds off at first.
i guess. but i despise it. I don't even like Samantha Kelly as Peach in the first place. I prefer Jen Taylor over her any time. but that's just me.

I've decided not to get this game. From what I played from the demo, its looks to have similar feel to Yoshi's Crafted world, where its very easy, and doesn't really do much.

I quite enjoyed this game, I am a major completionist in games and going for 100% in all stages can be quite challenging. If there's one big thing I'll admit, I certainly got a lot more excitement watching the intro of Kingdom Hearts III than playing the final boss of this game; I seriously felt the need to play the former out of spite right after finishing Princess Peach Showtime.

Side question, but still on the focus of this game's recent release, has anyone here been lucky to attend that special "launch event" at Nintendo NYC focused on Princess Peach: Showtime!, of course.

I swear, I wish I was in that NYC area to see this first hand myself being one of the dedicated Princess Peach enthusiasts; this is a big deal for all of us (and for Princess Peach herself) for sure.

Oh my goodness why did you spoil that I haven't played the game
Oh my, I am SO SO SO SO SO sorry! Please forgive me! I didn't even realize that there would be people who hadn't played the game! I'll put it behind a spoiler tag. Again, I am super sorry if I ruined your experience with the game! Forgive me, please!

I realized that Peach has her brooch in all of her outfits,
- Swordfighter it's on her neck lace collar
- Patisserie has it on her left side of her outfit
- Detective has it on her upper chest
- Ninja has it around her waist like a belt
- Phantom Thief has it on the right side of her chest
- Cowgirl has it on her bandana around her neck
- Mermaid has it on her pearl necklace around her neck
- Figure Skater has it on the center of her chest as a diamond shape
- Kung Fu has it in her hair holding it up
- Mighty/Super hero has it on both of her wrists, and it's kind of cool because they only show up when she's using her super strength

So...I kind of want to ask something that will likely spoil the ending of the game for me, and will probably need to be answered under a spoiler tag...

...What happens to Grape at the end of the game? How does Peach fight her? Is she seriously hurt or injured? Does she get some sort of comeuppance, and is it really bad?

I think one of the reasons why I'm holding off on playing this game is because I'm not looking forward to fighting Grape. I really dislike having female villains in games. Doesn't really help that Grape doesn't have an unappealing design, and so I have some (or a lot of) respect for her.

it's a character in a cartoon fantasy. a bunch of pixels on a screen.

...Thank you for telling me that.

I'll still hold off on buying this game until it (hopefully) goes on sale...$60 is a bit much...And people are saying that this game is baby easy and that it feels like baby's first video game. I kind of felt that way too when I tried out the demo

I don't want to pry too hard on your opinions but I'm curious as to why is it an issue if a villain you need to defeat looks appealing? Would you rather she has unconventional physical traits? Isn't it an issue to tie physical appearance to their alignment?

I hope that nothing I say comes off as insensitive or anything bad...

But yeah, I guess I would prefer that the villain looked more wretched and unappealing so that I wouldn't feel as bad for defeating her? Or at least have them be so despicable with their actions so that her comeuppance feels more justified?
Having not played this game fully yet, I am not sure if Grape is even all that bad or evil.

But I guess I can also see your point that not all villains need to be ugly or wretched, and perhaps even the inverse (not all protagonists need to be really pretty or have flawless looks).

In case anyone thought I forgot about it, this game has not beaten Yohane the Parhelion: Numazu in the Mirage as my game of the year (though the Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake will be the best thing overall to come this year).

I just beat this game's main campaign for the first time.

I really enjoyed this game a ton. Sure, it was kinda simple. Sure, it was very easy. But still, the levels were fun, and playing as Peach's various transformations was very fun.

Coming nearly 20 years after Super Princess Peach (albeit I myself did not play Super Princess Peach until late 2023, and still haven't beaten it), this game has a lot to live up to. Sadly, it doesn't really follow on from SPP in terms of story and setting, but it does well at being a good game in its own right. I think it's really interesting how, besides a few generic nameless Toads (I'm still disappointed that Toadsworth was yet again left out), Peach herself is THE ONLY character in this game who isn't original (and thus far exclusive) to Showtime - Mario, Luigi, Bowser, etc. are not even referenced, which I just wanna say I'm a huge fan since as anyone who knows me can testify, I'm all for original characters when it comes to Mario. But despite that, the game absolutely has the special "Mario feel" that I adore.

Whilst I do feel that Grape was a bit underused/underdeveloped in this game - we have no idea who she really is, where she came from, why she's as evil as she is - I absolutely, utterly, love her. She's just so cool and badass and I love her whole ensemble, her musical numbers, her voice acting, her whole thing about Tragedy and her seeing Peach as a foil to her, and her menacing dialogue. She is easily my favourite Mario villian outside of the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series. Like literally every time this lady showed up on my screen I was like "yes, yes, yes!" out loud.

Stella's decent, but I don't totally love her. The Theets are very cute. The Sour Bunch henchmen I think are really well portrayed as common goons, and I also like some of the major goons like the skater dude who doesn't go down without saying how brilliant Peach's skating is.

The bosses of each floor are based on animals, and I'm not gonna lie I found them a bit weird and not that fun to fight, but hey at least I can give them points for trying to be original.

I appreciate the system of buying outfits for Peach and Stella, but I'll admit I didn't use it much as Peach spends most of the time transformed, and Stella's too small for the changes to really be meaningful. And they're just like pattern changes, it's not like Mario Odyssey where Mario's outfits are wildly different kinds of clothing and even some meme outfits that make Mario 8-bit, N64 style, or a skeleton.

Music and Graphics were both awesome in this game. I was a little bit worried that the theatre setting might make the game feel a bit thematically monotonous but I think they pulled it off really well in the end, besides the floors of the Sparkla Theatre basically looking the same, except for the basement and the top floor and
The decorations in the postgame.

Minor complaint but I see noticeable FPS lag on every loading screen, don't know if that's normal, but it's not cool.

I think Peach's transformations were faboulous in terms of her different styles, and many of them, but Swordfighter Peach in particular, gave me extreme sapphic vibes which is just awesome.

I absolutely loved this game's final boss and ending. I was sadly spoiled that the final boss would involve one last transformation named "Radiant Peach" but I wasn't spoiled on how she'd look or what her abilities would be.

I genuinely think this might be my favourite final boss fight in any game since the 2000s, and that's despite it being way too easy, like seriously I only got hit once during the second phase and did die once in the first phase but only because I didn't realise on my first attempt that you can move Radiant Peach vertically as well as horizontally.

Again, I utterly adore Grape, and I think the fake twist ending was really well done in this game. I think the scene where Grape obliterates the theater and transforms into Grape the Great (which by the way, is a really clever and badass name for her final form.) was amazing.

Grape's defeat scene was very epic and whilst I was sad to see her seemingly perish, I was glad to see her mask appear floating on the water in the credits. I really hope that means we'll be seeing her again one day, as the game's pretty much going out of its way to ominously imply that Grape survived. Please Nintendo, let the show go on!

Also, I had hoped that there would be at least some plays unlocked in the postgame, but sadly that didn't come to pass - the postgame content is limited to refighting bosses whilst trying to meet challenge conditions (but not materially changing the boss mechanics in a way that makes it harder, as Mario Odyssey did), and stuff like Theatre decorations and outfits.

So is Princess Peach Showtime among the very greatest masterpieces the Mario franchises has to offer, alongside TTYD, the Galaxy Games, etc.? I'd say not quite. Is it an amazing game nonetheless? Yeah.

I think I'll probably take a break from this game for a while. I don't know yet whether or not I'll go for 100%, generally I'm not the kind of person who goes for 100% aside from games that I have an exceptionally strong interest in.

I'd love a sequel! Hopefully it'd build upon and improve from the original.

Oh man. I don't really see anyone talk about this game anymore. It may be on the easy side and some things could've been done differently, but this was a great game and is perfect for Princess Peach fans.
I think the hype on this game has really died down at this point. It's not a bad game but it's not among my favorites.
