First Mario game(s)

Lots of Wii generation folks, eh? I'm more old school.

My first Mario games were probably, on real N64 console and behind a CRT TV with VHS tapes below, Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. (Mario-related), but I didn't play the platformers, just watched my brother and dad play these. Super Smash Bros. was the game I was most invested in.
That all sounds really awesome! I love old-school Mario! :mario: I have one working CRT TV in my house, but it's in the closet and we don't use it anymore. All of our TVs we use are flatscreen TVs.

Each's respective console. My dad also has a NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis 3-in-1, so we'd use that sometimes. Also, my dad has nearly every Nintendo console, except the 2DS, 3DS, and Wii U, as far as I know and have seen.
I have an N64 and a PS2 and a Wii and I plan to get a Switch for Christmas. I also have a Nintendo 3DS and a 3DS XL. I'd love to get an old console like an NES or a SNES.

All mainline Mario games in order of playing them
New SMB DS
Super Mario 64
New SMB Wii
New SMBU Deluxe
Super Mario Bros, Wonder
(I have every Nintendo console except Wii Mini, Pikachu Mini and Game Boy

Honestly, I don't even remember what the first Mario game I played, or even the first game in general. We did have an N64 and SNES, so I would say it was likely Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Super Mario World, or Mario Party 2. Maybe Super Mario Bros Deluxe on GBC?

Super Mario 64

I was 4 years old and it was back in 2000, I remember my dad figuring out how to hook it up to our TV, change the inputs, turn the damn thing on and starting the game, and then handing me the controller.

Of course, I was four years old at the time so I think I mostly just ran around outside Peach's castle at the time but still.

When I was 10-12 years old they had Super Mario 64 at a hotel me and my parents were staying at and I played it. It was fun, but the hotel did this stupid thing where to get to play it for longer, you had to pay extra money. It was...kind of ridiculous. I thought at first looking back it was on an actual console but it was probably emulation because how else could you make it so you had to pay money to play? Now that I think about it yeah it WAS on an emulator because the console included other N64 games like Star Wars Rogue Squadron (the first one). First Mario game I played was Super Mario Bros. 3 on Game Boy Advance and I'm not really sure whether I played that Super Mario 64 game before or AFTER I played that. If I played it before maybe THAT was my first Mario game rather than the GBA one I got. But yeah I THINK-don't know for sure-first Mario game I ever played was Super Mario Advance 3 AKA Super Mario Bros. 3 on Game Boy Advance, unless the one I mentioned from the hotel I played before that.

Not sure if a thread for this has been made already, (if there has, then the mods can delete this and point me to it). What was the very first game in the Mario franchise game you played, along with any other firsts in specific fields?

Mario Kart: Double Dash was the very first one for me, with the Gamecube being my first console. Outside of Mario Kart, my first traditional Mario game was New Super Mario Bros. on the DS. Super Mario Galaxy was my first 3D Mario platformer and where I really started to delve into the franchise. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story was my first experience with a Mario RPG, although Superstar Saga was the first one I completed.
For me it would be a tie between 2 games Mario Kart for the Wii and super mario maker the first one was when i went to this daycare and they had it on the Tv the other was when i had my nintendo Wii U it came preorderd with the game already downloaded will always remember opening it up for the first time then playing it

The first Super Mario Bros. was the first game I played as a little kid. I got so addicted to the franchise since.

My first Mario game was Mario Kart double-dash, in fact, MKDD was my first video game ever. Back then, I was too young to even read, let alone actually handle driving the kart, so I mostly shot items while my dad did the driving.

@AutumnCyberStarlight Mario Kart Wii was the first Mariokart game I played I actually owned. Back when I still had braces on my teeth, I think the first one I played was the one they had at the orthodontist office for the kids to play. Either that, or this Mario 64 game I played that I rented for play at this hotel me and my parents went to. I'm not sure which one I played first.

My first Mario games were unofficial. I have many memories playing Mario Forever at my grandma and uncle (they also had Unreal Tournament and Counter Strike on their PC--was quite a tonal shift switching between Mario and them all the time). On my PC, I was playing some DOS homebrew game with weird-looking Piranha Plants. I think I also had contact with a couple of browser games I only got to play at other people (I didn't have home internet access till, like, 2008). I vividly remember that one game where Mario rampages through a bunch of enemies with a shotgun.

I didn't play any official titles until I got a Wii in... 2010, I think? First in line were Mario Kart Wii, NSMB Wii, and Mario Galaxy 2. I guess you can also call me a Wii-generation kid.

I guess you can also call me a Wii-generation kid.
You can call me that too because I got my Wii console when I was a teenager and it was the same year it came out-2006. I think it was for my birthday, too. It was awesome. Best birthday present ever. I don't know if I got any other presents besides that but it was so awesome that if I didn't I obviously didn't care.

probably Mario Kart DS. I vaguely remember the day my family got Mario Kart Wii, and also remember trying to tap the screen on Super Circuit to use bikes (the GBA does not have a touch screen, nor does Super Circuit have bikes).
