March of next yearDoes anyone know when Nintendo's fiscal year ends so we have a better idea of when the announcement could be? I thought I remembered something about it being around February but now I'm not sure. On a side note, I think the September Direct could be a good time to announce it.
I've seen some reports that this person has mistranslated stuff in the past and a more accurate translation would be 'Switch successor is the appropriate way to describe it' and not 'Switch next model'.

Eh, either one would be fine. Either it'll be an improvement of the Switch or a console that is so much more powerful than it is. Hey, if it's a console that's completely different from it and so much better and NOT backwards compatible with Switch 1 at least I'll also have a Switch 1 so I can play the Switch 1 games if I can't play them on the new console. And there's several good Switch games.'Switch successor' and 'Switch next model' are two very different things, the former being what I would hope for
Yeah that would be even better. It'd be annoying to have to play through all your Switch 1 games again to get back to where you were. Like, if the games were difficult, that is. If they're fun games one might enjoy playing through them again.Hopefully save data and software can be transferred over as well.
This bodes well for the next system, but I wonder if they would still port Nintendo Switch 1 games to the successor with some extras. Backwards compatibility doesn't stop Sony from releasing a The Last of Us remake on PS5 (the original which was available on PS4) after all, so I wonder if Nintendo might see a game fit for a remake in a similar way. After all, it could be useful for filling in gaps, and I think Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is probably the likeliest candidate for this, based on what I understand about certain performance limitations it has.
Speaking of, given the ability to play on both systems, I can sort of see games releasing on both Switch and successor, in a similar way that certain games saw release on PS4 & PS5 (and to a lesser extent Xbox One and Xbox Series) simultaneously, so it might be able to handle the system transition a bit easier. But I suspect Nintendo's lower level of tech means that parity would drop off sooner compared to PS5 and Xbox Series, where both still have parity even after 4 years in the market, and I suspect that Nintendo Switch's success made it easier to have a long support for either because of a more similar level of tech.
Thank you for reading.
There's Save Data Cloud already on NSO, so I assume that will work for this too. Hopefully non-members will have a way to also transfer data.Hopefully save data and software can be transferred over as well.
