How do you regard the lack of Mario themed consoles?

This question suddenly comes to my mind after seeing MKWorld would only be in bundle with the regular version of NS2.

As we know, there were many NS1 designs, including Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Pokemon and even some 3rd party IPs like Fortnite. Altho Nintendo once claimed to make a Mario anniversary edition NS, it didn't come with an actual decos that utilized the game materials..

I imagine that Nintendo don't mind to pack the regular console with MK8 or MKWorld because they know people would need both regardless of the console design. But I kinda wonder if it is correct in business aspect when other major franchises that sell as much as Mario do get their editions.

Do you think the demand is actually there? Or it isn't a major demand so it makes sense for Nintendo to not go for a Mario-themed NS and NS2?

Mario games get released reasonably early into a system's lifespan, and you don't need a special edition console to release close to the original. Then Pokémon and Zelda slurp up all the budget for special editions. Oh the well.
