The Official "I'm going away/coming back!" Thread

I leave for Chicago tomorrow. I'll be gone the 11th-14th. I'm going to G-fest, a Godzilla convention. I'll also be going to the midnight premiere of Pacific Rim.

Now for my leave:

Over this weekend, I'm finishing my course, and in order for me to enter the next course, I need to pass my assignments. This means I won't be on as much. As soon as next week is up, I'll be taking a week long hiatus from all technology, just to give myself a rest, maybe read a book or something. I'll return to full activity in three weeks.

Sorry, I didn't mention I had left, it was a huge week of everything.
I had to separate myself from MarioWiki for a week, in order to half down my stress.
But it's over now, so I'm back again.
 
I'll be in the car all day with crappy signal starting in an hour.
 
Going to Minneapolis in two hours, will have limited access for the next few days
 
I'm back! This is what I did. Wall of text coming.

Thursday
*Wake up at 4:30 a.m.
*Arrive at airport and eat Bojangles
*Two hour flight to Chicago, also changing timezones.
*Check into hotel
*Visit the sky deck at the Willis Tower
*See Gamera 3 at the Pickwick Theater (Pretty damn epic)
*Watch Cubs game at Wrigley Field
*MIDNIGHT PREMIERE OF PACIFIC RIM AT THE PICKWICK!
*Return to hotel at 3 in the morning.

Friday
*Wake up
*Breakfast
*Attend a panel about suit acting.
*Orientation for G-Fest
*Pacific Rim discussion with other G-Fans.
*Visit the dealer's room (a huge room of merchandise where I bought a Destroy all Monsters DVD)
*Attend panel where a guy talks about how the new Godzilla film was filming where he lives
*Watch an awesome fan film
*Dinner at an Irish restaurant.
*Ceremonies that introduce special guests for G-Fest
*View short fan made Godzilla videos. One was great tribute to Ray Harryhausen.
*Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla at Pickwick Theater
*Return to hotel at 1:30 in the morning.

Saturday
*Wake up.
*Got to act as an extra in a fan movie. I had to pretend to be running away from a monster.
*Small breakfast.
*Q&A with the man who designed several suits used in Godzilla movies.
*Q&A with the man who was inside the Godzilla suit in the 2000s
*Return to Dealer's Room. I bought Rodan, War of the Gargantuas, Rebirth of Mothra and Rebirth of Mothra 2.
*View panel about the history of the fan film Wolfman vs. Godzilla and view several clips.
*Watch Godzilla jeopardy.
*Second viewing of the fan film from Friday.
*Dinner
*More Godzilla jeopardy. The winner got a bunch of Pacific Rim merchandise, but auctioned it off. The price got raised all the way up to $350. The money went to charity.
*Trailer for a fan film
*Watch a parade where people wear their home-made Godzilla costumes. Some were cute, others were goofy, and others were incredibly detailed. Especially the Mechagodzilla.
*Watch a video tribute to a G-Fan who passed away last year.
*Godzilla vs. Megaguirus at the Pickwick.
*Return to hotel at 1:00 a.m.

Sunday
*Breakfast
*Checked out of hotel
*Arrive at airport.
*Came back home.
 
Yeah. The crowds for the movies were great. Everyone cheers when the Toho logo appears and when the monsters make their grand appearances.
