Am I the only one who hated Brawl?

In my opinion, Melee > Super Smash Bros. > Brawl

Never liked Brawl as much. It's a good game, but there are points I posted back there (it is also my first post ever :D).

For me, Brawl > SSB > Melee

I do like Melee alot, probably more than the original, but it's similiar to Brawl and instead of spending money to actually buy Melee, I can just stick to Brawl and get the same fun out of it. SSB is a bit different in how it plays, I cant really say, but it definitely feels much much different.

Melee felt very different to me. The air dodging is different, the characters feel heavier, the game is faster-paced, etc. No tripping, BTW.

They are minor physic differences, but they manifest themselves to make a better game than Brawl. Small details really do matter.

I still find Brawl better. In Melee, it was mostly competitive, but in Brawl, me and my friends can screw around and still have a good time. And lately I've been less competitive and just screw around. Tripping is fine with me though, makes way for some funny moments. Especially when I tripped in front of Bowser and got hit head on and died, that was funny.

I'm not really the competitive type either, but I find the CPUs more enjoyable in Melee (because they're total idiots). In Melee, BLOF and I often screw around in that game as well. I think Melee is one of those rare types that competitive and noncompetitive people can enjoy.

Well I seem to be the opposite, thinking Brawl is that type of game. My friend and I love making Replays, so next time we watch them we can remember the funny moments.

One time, me and my 3 friends were all Ganondorf on Bridge of Eldin. The bridge was destroyed and 2 were on each side. Me and my friend had a truce and were on the same side. So he's like "Get Me Over there!" and I Warlock Punched him over there and managed hit them with a Warlock Punch by starting it early in the air so when he was next to them it would've released. He got the kills but we laughed because our friend that died raged after that.

LOL, incidents like this also happen in Melee. There was one match (in Brawl) where all CPU Peaches (at 1 HP) killed each other. I don't know how THAT happened. All their attacks just connected and they were defeated. Mind you, they did not jump off a cliff or used any sort of item.

Too bad Melee doesn't have replays, but you can remedy this by getting a video capture device that can record a video at ANY length.

Speaking of Replays. Has anyone managed to get the glitch in Brawl that the replay gets a different result then what actually happened in the match? It was during the time I decided to replay every match I did and delete them after I saw them. There were 2 where in the actual match I won, but in the replay for some reason it had me lose.

It's really rare but I've seen it happen.

If you hack, that happens all the time. I don't think it's really a glitch

Basically, replays aren't actually replays. I think the game records your button inputs and puts them in the game. Same with the CPU. If you tamper with the stage or the size of the characters or something, then you get really screwed up. Funny thing is, the CPU are fully aware that they are in the stage and not a replay and so even if you stop moving because your "replay" ended, the computers will continue move and attack normally, even after their recorded inputs are gone.

Technically, it is a programming error, so that must mean it is a glitch.

Something similar happens in Mario Kart Wii. If you speed it up or use the moon jump cheat, the ghost gets screwed up big time.

Also, another reason replays can act weird is that your texture hacks will not work on replays if you're playing normal Brawl.

>am I the only one who hated brawl?

Nope. I was pretty displeased with it.

It was a really boring fighter that tried to have an epic story mode but failed with that too.

I wouldn't call it a rehash though as it changed many things from melee, or rather, took out a lot of things.

It did have some nice features like customizable music for stages and a stage maker(which kinda kills itself due to limitation), so eh.

Overall when it comes to good fighters brawl was not one of my liked. Mainly due to its slugish speed, and terrible online. I was far more impressed with melee and far better fighters(kof2000, vsav, guilty gear series).

Brawl in total reality was just a let down and really teaches you to not hype games.

It's not a total letdown, just not the Super Smash Gods that people thought it would be due to nine (?) years of prediction.

At the very least, we got more characters.

If every game got the same hype that Brawl did they'd never meet those expectations either. The years before it was released was really fun though.

And personally, it was worth the wait for me. But considering I like Brawl so much that I regard it as one of my favorite games of all time I might be a tad biased. And plenty of reasons besides Sonic being in the game why I love it the most out of the 3 SSB games.

The one and only thing that made Brawl so much better is stuff like Project M, Kitty Corp, etc.

By itself, it's pretty meh.

I highly disagree but again, I have personal reasons for liking Brawl the best.

Melee is more fun to play when I'm by myself. Mind you, it's like this most of the time. The CPU opponents are more enjoyable to kill, so I think that's a major reason I like Melee more, although it's a personal reason as well.

I don't hate Brawl, but my only complaints are:

Pikachu spammers in Wi-Fi

The old Melee characters: Dr. Mario, Pichu, Young Link and Roy didn't make it to Brawl.

The old stages: Pokefloats, Fourside, etc.

Wolf, Falco and Fox having the SAME FINAL SMASH!

Link's voice

Brawl is a great game by itself. By no means it's a bad game, but it pales in comparison to Melee, in my opinion.

I thought Brawl was a great upgrade to melee in terms of pretty much everything

I didn't like the play style as much but I wouldnt go as far to say Melee's was better or that I didnt like it

In terms of features, I preferred Melee's trophies mainly because the majority of Melee's trophies are rendered into an original model. Brawl's trophies, on the other hand, had mostly models that seemed to appear in other games.

Isn't that kind of the point...?

I don't think Nintendo would take the time to make an original model for every 550 or whatever trophies there are in Brawl. Melee only had a measly half of that, so that made sense, but then again, not all of Melee's were an original model either.
