The official name change announcement thread

No, you all got bits of the story, but not quite.
Once upon a time we had unlimited name changes, but we had to request. Scorpian abused it to the point where they introduced a '2 changes per month limit.' At one point we could change our own names, then Zero kinda abused it so we got our 1 month limit.
 
What's the rule with changing your name to names other people have? Because I see a Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy here and both names were taken before.
 
I don't think there's a rule, but it's generally not a good idea to take a name that was used by one person for a very long time. (eg Garlic with Caboose, me with turntechGodhead) Rainbow and Fluttershy weren't used by their original owners long at all, so that wasn't really a problem.

Actually it's every 30 days, because if so, I could just change my name to something right now, then to something else on New Year, then to something at the end of February, then the beginning of March,etc.

Actually I've been meaning to set this straight for a while. Zero's name changing was never a problem, at least for me, because he was always easily recognizable as that guy with all the Code Geass stuff. The problem was the people who would completely revamp their entire profile into something with no similarity to their previous profile every week or so.
 
True... but I remember Zero getting some grief for it, but I can easily tell it's him as it's anime guys with funny names.

People always assumed it was Zero who was abusing it, meanwhile the real reason was all that ridiculous homestuck changing where it was being done by so many people.

Well, the more likely reason, haven't you guys realized yet that you're at the mercy of the mods? They change your nick if they want to, not because you demand it. If you act like an impatient brat, they probably won't feel like getting to changing your nick for a few more days.

Anyways, can my name be changed back to Hypnotoad whenever it's ready to be changed? Leaving for vacation soon, so I might not be around to request it on the specific date.

Yeah, I just did, if you're capable of reading my post.

But there is a rule where names can only be changed once a month, and my month isn't up yet. I'm just putting it up in advance because I understand that this is a forum and posts can be read again and again and again no matter what day it is. I don't need to repost it again and again and again for someone to see it, because that's annoying as fuck.
