Everyone i know says yoshi is awesome, but in my opinion, he is pointless. It's not him i don't like (well i don't like him, especially his "ugh ughhh' when he hover jumps) it's his game style, which might be classic, but to me is weird. I like toad, so a toad game would be cool. Or a goomba game...
Yoshi should rot in a pit. I, however, like the classic Yoshi WAAAYYYYY better than the current one. He looked like a dinosaur and didn't sound like some idiot.
Yeah, when he started to make squeaking sounds, like he was stuck in a permanent blender, was when he became not cool. Yoshi isn't in much anymore, though. Or Birdo. I hyave no qualms with Birdo, and she isn't in many games.
