  • Waldorf and Statler (The Muppet Show) on Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power

    Statler: What's that noise?
Waldorf: It's the sound of J.R.R. Tolkien turning over in his grave.

    Hohohohohohoho!
I'm trying to take a break from social media because of the lack of success in finding a good roleplay, my creative dip and the lack of social contacts, but so far, it's been a rocky road to successfully taking a break from social media. I'm feeling a bit melancholic and struggling with taking that first step in my break from social media. One of my friends gave me a few suggestions of things I could do, but it's hard to take a break from social media when I have my whole social life on social media.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm really having a hard time putting my mind to writing my 'Shroom sections because of the warm weather and my constantly flaring mental health issues. Does anyone else have that problem too?

I have the mental health issues, but the weather is…acceptable.
I'm not feeling in the highest of spirits at the moment. For a while now, I've been feeling doubtful about my ability to write anything, in the sense that I feel that some of my friends are better at writing than I'll ever be. I don't like feeling like this and I don't know how I'm going to stop feeling like this.

The most important thing is that you're happy with what you make and that you enjoy making it. Comparing your work to other people's and judging it on that merit is a big pitfall that's best avoided. Obviously, there's nothing wrong with looking at your own work critically, thinking about what could be improved, and taking the steps to do that, and using other work that you enjoy as a guide to how you might do that. But really in anything in life you can almost definitely find someone with more experience and skill if you look for them (by definition, very few people are the "best"!), so you shouldn't get caught up in that. It's better to focus on what you personally get out of it.

I'll do my best to keep that in mind, WT. Thanks for the words of wisdom.
I won't be uploading a new question in my Random question of the day thread today and maybe tomorrow because I cross-post my daily questions to RPNation, and RPNation is down for maintenance in the next two days. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Gosh, my week has been off to a rough start so far...Yesterday I was felled by spring fatigue, and last night my dorm counselor had to abruptly leave because of some business she didn't specify about, and this morning, I'm just feeling out of it in the aftermath of what happened last night...Hopefully my week will start turning around for the better, because if it doesn't, I better prepare my inner strength for the trials of life that are to come...
You know, once my workload allows for it, I would like to try and write a bimonthly section for Critic Corner, but I'm not really sure what I should review in that section. Should I review games? Movies? TV shows? Comics? Food? I'm in a bit of a tailspin on that end.

As someone who was in the same boat of wanting to write more for CC but not really knowing what to actually review until pretty recently, what I've done to get more into that is write a one-off review once I beat a game. You could just look at the stuff you're engaging with in general and write about any of that if you think it would be interesting. You don't even have to commit to the same topics for every review even on a scheduled section, Rose's Quarantine Reviews which ran a while back was all about reviewing just whatever and even Half-Baked Reviews did different things from issue to issue before settling into the food niche it has now.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'll do my best to incorporate it if I do plan on writing for Critic Corner.

You can always just do a general review section where you just review what ever you like!
I managed to finish reading all of this month's issue of The 'Shroom! A job well done to all writers, and thank you to Waluigi Time for highlighting my 30 Fake News section milestone in 'Shroom Report! And of course thanks to anyone who reached out to me in DMs to offer me words of appreciation for the work I do for The 'Shroom! It makes me happy to see that my passion for the newspaper is being met with positive reception!
Be sure to check the Fake News and Palette Swap teams in this month's issue of The 'Shroom! Waluigi Time has an unfortunate announcement regarding Sport Report, I go see one of the sweetest chefs to make a really sweet dessert, and my reporter persona and his band of athletes venture further into the Dark Lands to save the Annual Mushroom World Games!
Is Magalor04276 on an arranged hiatus from their World of Plight section in The 'Shroom? I don't believe their section has been in the newspaper for a while.
Is it bad that I've only managed to read half of Issue 204 of The 'Shroom so far? I've been meaning to read Pipe Plaza, Critic Corner and Strategy Wing for the past two weeks, but due to fatigue caused by my meds, I've been unable to do read it.
Be sure to check out the Fake News and Palette Swap teams in today's issue of The 'Shroom! I've got my longest Sport Report section so far for you, in which I cover a round of golf on Keelhaul Key! I'll also be teaching you how to make a delicious pastry in Cooking Guide, and the first chapter of my reporter persona's adventure to save the Mushroom World Games will be coming to a close in Sport Report: The Movie!
I think my copy of Tomodachi Life on Nintendo 3DS is broken. The game gets stuck on the Nintendo 3DS startup screen whenever I try to boot the game up. I tried blowing on it multiple times and cleaning it with a soft napkin, but nothing I've tried worked so far. It simply won't read the card.

It might be the slot. I've had this problem with my Switch (It happens all the time). Maybe find a tutorial on how to clean it? I don't own a 3DS so I don't know.

I don't trust to clean it without getting too much moisture in my 3DS and risk destroying it. Plus, every other 3DS cartridge works perfectly fine in my 3DS. It seems only Tomodachi Life has this problem.

Oh, then it had to be the cartridge. On my Switch, it's the slot for sure since it does it with every cartridge.
I wonder something about the Strategy Wing team of The 'Shroom. Is the writer of Getting That Payday still around? The sign-up page says they're still on the team, but I haven't seen their section in The 'Shroom in months.
Don't you just hate it when you try and play some video games after a day of work only for you to have to sit through a tiring long game update? Happened to me today. 😒

Yeah this can be very annoying, but the vast majority of games I play no longer receive updates (almost any Wii U / 3DS title, certainly any Wii / DS and before), or do not force you to always have the latest update to play (e.g. Minecraft, most offline Switch games). My home internet is decent so I can only imagine how bad this would be for people with very slow internet.
I gotta admit, I've been feeling creatively drained over the past week. I've been meaning to try and be more creatively productive by writing stories to try and distract myself from my mental health issues, but I just don't have a whole lot of creative energy to get much writing done. The only time I can bring myself to write is if I'm writing on a deadline like when I'm writing my 'Shroom sections.
