  • Astro Bot won GOTY and I'm very happy it did. As much as I love Baldur's Gate 3 and how good Elden Ring is, it's a bit nice to see a different genre with colorful, cute, playful aesthetics win it once in a while, as they did with It Takes Two in 2021. Honestly I would have played it if it weren't stuck to the PlayStation.

I'm not certain that Astro Bot is worth buying an entire PlayStation 5 for, but it's such good fun every step of the way. I genuinely have nearly no problems with it so far, it's the closest thing to a perfect game I've seen in recent years and just oozes with Mario DNA - especially Galaxy, which is my favorite game of all time.

Sounds like a fun game; I might play it sometime. I might buy a new Playstation console someday but this upcoming year I'm going to get a Switch 2 for Christmas. Is it a good platformer? If it is, I might like it a lot just like how I love Mario and Spyro so much.

An incredible platformer that just exudes so much charm and creativity on top of interactivity and showing off the DualSense's capabilities without seeming insignificant or pointless.
Dynasty Warriors is my hyperfixation right now.

I really wish there was a Mario Warriors game, man why won't Nintendo just man up and give us one.

LOL I'm a Kingdom Hearts fan as well as a Mario fan. Would a "Mario+Kingdom Hearts" game series be cool, or would it just be weird? I mean the whole "Mario + Rabbids" thing is kind of weird but it worked really well.

@Roy "Bully" Koopa Well, given the whole Final Fantasy + Disney crossover concept of Kingdom Hearts being so weird but still working, a Mario + Kingdom Hearts crossover wouldn't be too farfetched in my opinion, though I'm not sure if it would ever come to fruition given that I don't really see Nintendo being willing to work in conjunction with Disney.

Our healthcare industry is a massive scam and it shouldn't even exist.

I did not say anything about sympathy. I said that you should never say someone deserved to die. That statement leaves an incredibly bad taste in my mouth.

I'll still back up that the general public doesn't care about his death because the CEO is a massive piece of shit and he's very evil. In fact, this is one of the few times recently that there is no political division behind his death: both liberal and conservative voters share their united hatred of this industry and what this CEO stands for to the point where online sleuths don't help the local police. People are sick and tired of having their essential healthcare coverage denied for a service they pay upward of 200 dollars or more a month for while medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcies in families. Hell, my own mother had United Healthcare as coverage at one point and had to pay an arm and leg for essential medicine.

It's commonly joked that this guy's funeral is paid by funerals of other people but it is also very much true. Hence why people say stuff like this. Basically what this CEO and his shareholders did also was "yeah terminally ill patients deserved to die" or families deserve to be bankrupt, that's exactly what they prey on.

@Ray Trace He was a terrible person I agree, and because of everything you just revealed about him I really don't like him (had no opinion on him before because I didn't know the bad things he had did or who he was). He shouldn't have been killed (only saying that because murder is always wrong no matter what), but he also never should have been allowed to be CEO, which is the greater insult here frankly-that's the bigger issue here-much bigger. Just the fact that happened is completely not right at all because he was clearly a really terrible person. Also really sorry about what happened with your mother with United Healthcare, Ray Trace. That was totally not fair. Our healthcare system is a bunch of bullshit and it needs to be fixed. Terrible people like him shouldn't be allowed to be in charge of it. People are being put in charge of healthcare that care nothing about helping people out which is the whole point of healthcare (helping people), so what are they even doing there? It's so stupid and ridiculous. This guy should have NEVER been put in charge. And did he even do it legitimately, or did he bribe people along the way? I'm thinking probably the latter. But yeah. Self-centered jerks like him should not be in charge of our healthcare system. And I feel great sympathy for the people he mistreated including the terminally ill patients. And I hate the fact that there are terrible people out there in our world like him that mistreat others. It's really really a terrible thing. Completely the opposite of how I am; I want to help people every way I can. At least there's more (or at least just as many) people in the world like me as there are terrible people. Given the fact that I'm a person who wants to help people it's hard for me to understand the mindset of self-centered terrible people like him frankly who care about noone but themselves-and money. Sorry if this post is long but I wanted to get all my thoughts and personal feelings about this situation out. Also in my opinion, this CEO guy sounds like he was absolutely evil and heartless and he should have (when he was alive) been absolutely ashamed of himself. I very much dislike people (including him) who are like that.
I played Paper Mario: Sticker Star for the first time.

I actually like the game's battle system quite a bunch, surprisingly. Let's just say, I like the improvisational battles, strategizing based on what I have and how I'm given a wide variety of attacks from the getgo. The game encourages you to play well when you perform action commands correctly, since it awards you coins, a hugely vital resource in the game. Coins actually feel valuable in this game since they do so much things, not only do they buy you more attacks but they let you spin the Battle Spinner, the tool that's practically essential to winning hard fights, and it's just fun to move multiple times in a row and also strategize based on which enemies you're going to attack next. I love how the hammer is buffed to do AOE damage (extremely important in this game, it very emphasizes on denying enemy turns, especially if you can beat them in one turn since you're also awarded coins if you do so). Lack of EXP doesn't bother me because I've played other games that used power of equipment that determines your level instead so I'm already familiar with that type of RPG gameplay. I'm also quasi-familiar with consumable attacking moves (Pokemon's PP and Baten Kaitos's cards) so yeah, they shower you in stickers anyway where that's not a big deal.

Boss fights are a big miss though, just because of the nature of practically requiring you to bring the right Thing sticker and use them at the right point. People are justified to be angry at that and I agree with that. They're too polarized to be good, either they're way too easy or way too challenging. Requiring a guide to get through parts of the game is very bad game design something I'll agree with the haters by a lot, but I'll use a guide anyway just because I want to like video games, not dislike them, so if that's the reccommended play to avoid headaches then by golly I'll use a guide.

Getting Thing stickers IS annoying though. I hate this gameplay of "get item where you have to backtrack to town to get upgrade", hated that mechanic in TTYD, so of course I'll hate it here.

The Toad NPC spam is very bad though. Major complaint I have with the friendly NPCs, had this complaint from before I played it and it still stands. I'm not asking for made-up species, I just want a little bit more variety. Pretty much the Mario variant of "where are the black people, where are the women". Hell the Toads should at least wear different outfits, like distinguish the shady guy and the musuem guy and the shop guy just from outfits, you don't need to do anything drastic. I'd prefer more friendly species but that's more than bare minimum.

The soundtrack is so good too. Very much helps with my enjoyment of Sticker Star.

"what's the reason you're playing SS just now when it's been out for 12 years, and another (much better) Mario RPG just came out?"

Mostly because it's a hated and controversial game (thanks to Sparks for validating that!) so I want to jump in and see all the fuss surrounding it, if it really deserves like, 2's or 1's out of tens. My other rationale is, gee I have a penchant of liking games people didn't like while disliking games that are beloved (Yoshi's New Island vs SNES Yoshi's Island is the biggest example) so I figured, hell I'm probably gonna end up liking Sticker Star. And so far, the answer seems to be yeah.

By the way I don't have much interest in Brothership anyway.

Yoshi's Island is a featured article on the main page which reminds me that I should get Yoshi's Island DS up to par.
Hey Ray Trace I really hope your arm is starting to feel better. I've sprained myself before once or twice. I know it really hurts. I hope you get better soon, especially with the holidays approaching and all that (obviously I mean so you can celebrate them, not work on them LOL; I don't think anyone should work on Christmas; they should get to relax and celebrate the holiday). 🎄 Anyway yeah hope you're feeling better.

I don't like the holiday season, I can't stand commercialization and it's the busiest time of the year. Last year wasn't too horrible in terms of package volume iirc but I'm still not going to have fun delivering large swaths of them.

@Ray Trace Hope you at least get paid well for it, having to deliver so much around Christmastime and all. That would be kind of annoying to deal with LOL. Postal workers are underappreciated in my opinion.
I've sustained a workplace injury from excessive repetitive motions several months ago and just now I got my CA-2 approved so that's cool. My right forearm hasn't felt the same since I first felt it all the way back in June.

What I hate about politics is how it makes people who have different opinions hostile towards each other. That's why I absolutely refuse to tell everyone on this board what my political or religious/non-religious beliefs are ever, or discuss politics, so if there's for instance a thread about the 2030 election or something I won't be posting on there. No thanks. Politics brings out the worst in people. I'll vote for whoever I want to vote for, but sorry, not saying who to any of you, thank you.

What's also bad is that political mail is also a bitch to deliver mail for, plus I hate people who broadcast their political beliefs publically, if it's wearing t-shirts, plastering their car with ugly stickers, or putting out these hideous flags and banners on their front lawn. Nobody gives a shit who you personally support.

I've eaten jalapenos with nearly every school lunch for so long, I have a sort of spice-protection, where I can just take it and not feel uncomfortable. And my dad puts a lotta spices on everything we eat, and because of Louisiana, I'm just an all-around spicy pro. One day, I will take on the Carolina Reaper though

i have a history of not taking spicy foods well (in terms of eating) that's why im practicing it

my gut is taking buldak fine but typically doesn't like the shin ramen.

i can't really handle spicy tacos tho, mostly spicy ramen
A 75 year old lady called out to me today as I was delivering mail, fallen and she couldn't get up. I tried to help her up but I couldn't. Got the neighbor involved, and neither of us could help her up. I then had to call 911, and they sent a firetruck crew to help put her in a wheelchair. She told me that she was sitting out there for at least an hour and a half under the sun with bad knees and a healing hip, the poor soul, but I'm glad she's fine now.
Just like with Koopa con Carne, you were one of the first faces I saw when I first visited the site. Thank you, Ray Trace, for inspiring me to join the Boards, and being a great fellow member to me.
    Happy Juneteenth everyone!
Last week was dog bite awareness week and here are some things I'll share with you to prevent dogs from attacking your mail carrier.

    • Do not ground pound the stake your dog is attached to. Your mail being delivered is more important than the Power Star behind the gate.
    • Do not make your mail carrier wear the Deku Scrub mask. This specifically applies to the Skull Kid.
    • Avoid giving treats to Broggy at Broggy's shop.
    • Deplete Isabelle of her balloons in Battle Mode and kill her first in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
    • If you live in a haunted mansion, do not give your mail carrier a Gold Bone.
    • Have a dinosaur made of yarn that can eat the fireball-spitting varieties for your mail carrier.
    • If your dog just so happens to be a giant stapler, deplete its staples and have 1000 Fold Arms ready.
The biggest upgrade in the TTYD remake is obviously Mario's mailbox, they changed it from having a tiny shitty slot to the entire thing being openable, so Parakarry can fit Mario's 5th order of plumbing screws of the week inside there.

Dude was out biking with his dog, unleashed, and that dog suddenly charged at me.

    How is everyone doing.
All of those times slaving away the brutal 10 hour, 6 day work weeks are paid off with a 2000 dollar beefy computer that is now replacing my obsolete, old defunct one that would have issues.
