Alright it's been a little while but now for Show Stoppers Vs. Friend In Deed.

On the cover of these episodes they don't seem to have many similarities besides that of course they both have a song. Show Stoppers is primarily focused on the CMC while Friend in Deed more so on Pinkie. However there is one thing. Both episodes contain the character pretty much showing their flaws. The CMC only learn that they're not going to get their cutie marks so easily from a talent show and Pinkie's insistence of being Cranky's friend only worked when she reunited him with Matilda. Both important characters that do something in the episode that makes even the biggest fans of the characters to facepalm. But at the very least, it expands their character.

An interesting tidbit here is that Show Stoppers was actually the first episode I ever caught on TV when it was new. Stare Master was the last one I saw on Youtube in which it was a brand new episode to me until Hearts and Hooves Day leaked (I find it kinda funny that all 3 episodes I mentioned here are CMC-related). Back in the times when new episodes aired at 1 PM on Friday. I have not missed a new episode airing since then (Not counting Hearts and Hooves as obviously as I said I saw it early). Anyway Show Stoppers is of course an episode where the CMC get some important development. Like getting a clubhouse in which we'd see in quite a bit of episodes after which and showing what the 3's talents probably are that they just need to learn their lesson. The overall impact of this episode may depend on whether or not the CMC get their Cutie Marks in-show. Because something will feel missing if we don't see them get their Cutie Marks even though this episode hinted at them. Apple Bloom seems to have a knack for designing, Sweetie of course looks like she'll be a Music pony, and Scootaloo has more athletic potential (Dancing and her moves she's able to do on her scooter). Applejack checking up on them led to some funny antics (Some of her faces when she was up on the window led to a mini-meme) and of course the CMC failing trying to do the job for the Talent Show that they're not suited for. With Apple Bloom not being very graceful with the dancing, Scootaloo bad at making up lyrics (Banging her head on the Piano), and Sweetie having trouble with the costumes (Which is ironically one of her older sister's talents). And then of course them rehearsing in the clubhouse with Applejack checking in, already realizing that their performance isn't going to do very well. On the Cutie Mark Crusaders song, it had some good lyrics. But of course it's performed horribly. But that's entirely on purpose. The rock star style costumes actually were pretty nice though. It's also funny to see Twilight before and after the show talking to them sensing the doom the performance was going to go when the CMC told her what each of them they were doing, and then hoping that they realized what their true talents to pursue are only for them to think it's going to be comedy. I believe this episode was kinda underrated while Season 1 was still going mainly for the dislike for the CMC was stronger in Season 1 then it was in Season 2. But overall the episode is going to have to wait until the series is over before it's impact is fully reached or goes down below depending when/if the CMC get their cutie marks and if they can be traced back to this episode.

On to Friend in Deed. I have to say that the first 5 minutes of the episode is overall the best part by a long shot. What with continuty references to Baby Cakes with Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake appearing again and then the Smile song. Which I must say is the best song coming from Pinkie Pie in my honest opinion. It perfectly describes the appeal of Pinkie Pie's character. She will do anything to cheer up, be your friend, and make you smile. Sometimes she's a little crazy, but she usually means well. But then this episode kinda takes a turn that's similar to what hurt Griffon the Brush-Off. Excellent beginning but then, bam new character and conflicts that last for the rest of episode. Not that it's exactly the same. I actually kinda liked Cranky so that's already an improvement over Gilda. (Which if it was Brush-Off Vs. Friend in Deed I probably would pick Friend In Deed with that being one reason why). In fact if anyone's being the jerk in this episode it's Pinkie for trying to force a friendship between her and Cranky. She tries her best to befriend him, but Pinkie doesn't realize right away that he just wants to be alone. It only worked when it turned out Pinkie Pie knew Matilda who happened to be a lost love of Cranky who he hadn't seen since some Gala that was probably years ago (Which speaking of which, what was Matilda thinking putting the note on the inside half of the door? I guess she assumed Cranky would head right in fully and see the message as he was heading out the door, but still). Even then Pinkie kinda had to realize that even with Cranky as her friend now the couple still wants to be left alone. I also kinda loved the ol' Droopy like thing with Pinkie saying sorry to Cranky which harks back to something that was also in Griffon the Brush-Off. Though before that I loved Twilight's faceplant into a book when Pinkie decided to try to get him to accept her apology. Also the felt scene was kinda funny too, kudos to Jayson and his wife for doing all that in their basement. Friend in Deed is still a good episode, but again it suffers the problems that Brush-Off kinda had with a very entertaining beginning and then things don't go so well when a new character to challenge Pinkie.

I'm going to give this one to Show Stoppers. Yes the Season 2 streak has officially ended with this point. Friend in Deed was enjoyable. But I think I enjoyed seeing the CMC prepare for the Talent Show for most of the episode then Pinkie trying to make Cranky her friend. If this was based on Song Vs. Song. Then Friend in Deed would win by a long shot even if that's a tad unfair since the CMC song was purposely bad. It just suffered from Brush-offitis and Show Stoppers had more enjoyable moments throughout the entire episode. So for the first time since Winter Wrap-Up Vs. Heart's Warming Eve (6 episodes ago) Season 1 finally has another point in it's sleeve.

Season 1: 6
Season 2: 12

So with Season 2 over and all. What are your guys favorite episodes of Season 2? I've narrowed it down to 10 (With 2-parters counting as one) Though I do like all the episodes in some way. This is in no ranking. They're only ordered by which they aired

Return of Harmony, Lesson Zero, Sisterhooves Social, Sweet and Elite, Secret of my Excess, The Last Roundup, Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, Read It and Weep, Hurricane Fluttershy, and Canterlot Wedding
Let's see... For season 2:

1.) Hurricane Fluttershy
2.) May the Best Pet Win
3.) A Canterlot Wedding (both parts)
4.) Baby Cakes
5.) Sisterhooves Social
6.) Sweet and Elite
7.) It's About Time
8.) Luna Eclipsed
9.) Family Appreciation Day
10.) Putting Your Hoof Down

The 10th one challenged me, because I tried to find an episode I really liked that didn't have that many things I didn't like, but that proved rather difficult. I eventually chose Putting Your Hood Down because of Fluttershy and Iron Will, but I didn't COMPLETELY like it because of all the freaking jerks in this episode, ESPECIALLY Angel.

For season 1:

1.) Suited for Success
2.) The Cutie Mark Chronicles
3.) Sonic Rainboom
4.) The Best Night Ever
5.) Stare Master
6.) A Bird in the Hoof
7.) Winter Wrap-Up
8.) Friendship is Magic parts 1 & 2
9.) The Show Stoppers
10.) Look Before You Sleep

Again, had a difficult time choosing episodes I really liked, because while this WAS the season that got me hooked on ponies, there actually aren't that many episodes I really liked, or I'd watch again and again...

Least favorite of season 2:

1.) The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well
2.) MMMystery on the Friendship Express
3.) Ponyville Confidential
4.) The Last Roundup
5.) Hearth's Warming Eve
6.) Dragon Quest
7.) Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000
8.) A Friend in Deed
9.) Lesson Zero
10.) Secret of My Excess

This list, I realized that there are only so many episodes I can choose from, and while there were certainly episodes I hated, there are ones that I kind of liked, but also didn't really care for, for one reason or another, hence "least favorite".

Least favorite of season 1

1.) Feeling Pinkie Keen
2.) Over a Barrel
3.) Swarm of the Century
4.) Griffon the Brush Off
5.) Bridle Gossip
6.) Dragonshy
7.) A Dog and Pony Show
8.) Party of One
9.) Owl's Well the Ends Well
10.) Green Isn't Your Color

This one was actually a lot easier, and there are quite a few episodes I genuinely did not like, including my least favorite episode of ALL of ponydom!

For the Ace Attorney fans here. Here's another of those Crossover videos. Same crew that did the Professor Layton one not too long ago. This time it has Miles Edgeworth (And Dick Gumshoe) as they meet Trixie.

Finished watching "Return of Harmony". Applejack's trip down memory lane reminds me of another TMNT episode and that was a nice crowning moment of heartwarming. Rarity finally realizing her giant diamond was a boulder was hilarious and Applejack pointing it out afterwards after Rarity asked them to never bring it up again was a crowning moment of funny. Finally, turning Discord back into stone was a crowning moment of awesome. Does he ever come back?

Not in Season 2 at least. But rumors say that Disocrd will come back in some capacity in Season 3. Even if it's like for only a flashback episode or something. Because his voice actor (John DeLancie) confirmed he has voice Discord once again for the show. We just don't know the circumstances yet.
I thought it just said he was returning as a voice actor?

Just found this out:

It's real... And it's official (as in Hasbro made it)...

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!

In a good way! ;)

True he said that. But he was also once asked if he was returning as Discord. In which he replied with a solid "Yes". Now again, it doesn't mean that Discord is actually returning just yet. It may be a flashback to when he still ruled and such. Which would be awesome in so many ways.

Yeah it's awesome Hasbro is doing that. I obviously won't be getting one (Don't really want the brushables even if this is Derpy and Comic Con is way too far away. There will be limited copies sold online but again I'm not really desperate for it)

But this is an official toy we're talking about here with Derped eyes and all. For those who complained constantly about the Last Round-Up edit. Have you forgiven Hasbro now? x3

Ok time for A Dog and Pony Show and Putting Your Hoof Down

Not too many similarities here. The Diamond Dogs and Iron Will both are tough (or at least tough-looking) male characters that try to take advantage of one of the main cast. But for entirely different reasons. As the Diamond Dogs are a little more antagonistic then Iron Will overall since they kidnapped Rarity to make her find gems against her will. Iron Will simply was a buisnessman that wanted his pay from Fluttershy. Other then that you're going to have to be pretty hard-pressed to think up of any more similarities then that. They both flesh out both Rarity and Fluttershy a little more though.

A Dog and Pony show is among my favorites of Season 1. Probably among my Top 5. So I was more then happy to rewatch it. This episode basically makes Rarity awesome for everybody even for those who initially disliked her in the first half of the season. Spike also played a pretty big role in this too. The Diamond Dogs were pretty competent in regards in facing the others of the Main 6 besides Rarity. Which maybe for the exception of Trixie's making some of the cast look like fools didn't happen in the show that much at this point. You could argue the Diamond Dogs were more competent against everybody but Rarity then Nightmare Moon was against the Main 6. Of course the likes of Discord, The Flim Flam Brothers, and Queen Chrysalis has entirely outclassed the Diamond Dogs with Season 2 and all. But the scene where they're messing with Twilight, Pinkie, Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy at their home turf showed that if it wasn't for Rarity taking control of the situation it wasn't going to be easy to beat the dogs. Onto Spike, he was awesome throughout almost the entire episode. Aiding Rarity showing some fight when the Diamond Dogs attacked (Even if he does end up failing), his Big NOOOOOOOOO, Speaking in gibberish, the Man-Spike daydream, "Hi-ho Twilight!", etc. The daydream in particular was awesome, it was one of those moments back then where I was like "People still think this is JUST a girl's show?!" and it culminating in a hilarious scene where Spike almost kisses Applejack (Which I'm know spawned a ship in some places. But then again, what doesn't spawn one). Then of course there's the "THIS IS WHINING" scene showing more of Rarity being awesome and the talent of her voice actor to go to that high pitch. Seeing it annoy the dogs was utterly hilarious and then Rarity essentially making them her servants which while the Dogs realize this but then one of them makes the mistake of calling Rarity a mule (Some point out how it's funny that Rarity was more upset by the fact she was called a mule then the fact that she was spanked on her flank) which commences Crying. Also this is little overlooked scene but when the rest of the Main 6 are coming to save Rarity and some of the Dogs sit and muzzle them with ropes I like Applejack's line and telling the others to buck the dogs off them. Applejack doesn't get too much focus in Season 1 but I think that was a pretty good scene that I find that most people overlook when they watch this episode. Overall, I really enjoy this episode alot.

Now for Putting Your Hoof Down. It's an enjoyable episode to say the least. But there is one major teensy-tiny problem with the episode which I'm sure everyone else has noticed. In the episode, almost no one except Fluttershy (Before the Iron Will scene, and after she yells at Pinkie and Rarity), Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and quite honestly Iron Will were all jerks. Ponies purposely took advantage of Fluttershy's shyness to cut in line, try to get more money out of her, or completely ignored her. Worst of all was Angel. He wouldn't take the simple pet food that Fluttershy had at home and asked for a more fancy meal. Fluttershy goes out to get all the ingredients and I mean all the ingredients and she goes under all that stress at the marketplace and once she had made Angel's Fancy Salad. He rejects it once Fluttershy tells Angel that she couldn't get a cherry... a f-(BUY SOME APPLES)-ing cherry. For a while after this episode I lost some major like for Angel, it's gotten better since Hurricane Fluttershy. But it hasn't exactly completely cleared him in my opinion. At the end I think Angel needed more then a simple stare-down. But besides that fact I still enjoy this episode at least for Iron Will. Pre-Watch I was worried that he'd simply end up being a greedy antagonistic guru that's doesn't care whether or not Fluttershy follows his advice, he just wants his money. The very ending proved that wrong. He's just simply a buisness man that wants to make sure his advice works. He's still for the money but he's clearly not as greedy and exorting as the Flim Flam brothers were. And when Fluttershy said "No means no" he gracefully accepted defeat and left. Pinkie Pie also showed more of her classic Looney Tunes abilties with using the classic "Duck Season, Rabbit Season" trick on one of the Market ponies and Iron Will near the end. Which as a fan of those toons was really neat to see. I also found the scene when Fluttershy using her newfound assertiveness rather funny...up until she started insulting Pinkie Pie and Rarity which then it got emotional a little. Culminating with Fluttershy heading back home with her head down. Sad scene but it had some excellent animation with the lighting when she was tied inside her house. Alot of that makes this episode enjoyable to watch, but the way that everyone except the very important characters are jerks vastly holds back this episode. I do believe it's a vast improvement over Mare-Do-Well from the episode's writer.

I have to give this one to A Dog and Pony show. The jerkish characters in Putting Your Hoof Down just holds it back way too much. Iron Will and Fluttershy were both awesome in that episode. But it's not enough to beat all the classic scenes we got in A Dog and Pony Show. WHINING, Man-Spike, Mane 6 sans Rarity Vs. Diamond Dogs, etc. All in all Season 1 gets this point and it's first time Season 1 actually gotten a row of points since Dragonshy and Look Before You Sleep.

Season 1: 7
Season 2: 12

So, YouTube Brony Saberspark says that he won't be hosting the Top Tend Pony Videos anymore since the guy who originally came up with the idea, TheMovieBrony, came back, although Saberspark doesn't tell us WHO that is or WHERE we can find him... Either way, he decided to come up with something a little different:

Yes, he'll be hosting a contest for the month of May's best pony MUSIC! Because there's a lot, let me tell you! 8)

Rules are similar enough to the Top Ten Pony Videos, but here are the rules anyway:

Rules:

1. Using the exact title of the video, vote for a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 songs in the comments of the above video.

2. Only vote for songs from the month of May

3. Only vote ONCE. Multiple votes by the same user will have that user's votes disqualified.

4. If you want to change your vote, delete your comment, and repost it.

5. A video is only eligible if it was released during the month of May. Whether it is just a picture or a full fledged video accompanying it doesn't matter as long as the song itself was originally from the month of May.

Voting ends on June 7TH at 11:59 PM EST

Hopefully, no one will be confused and people will actually PAY ATTENTION to this topic BEFORE the actual "May's Top Ten Brony Songs" comes along.

The Last Roundup, one of my favorites.
My favorite episode too. Shame I'm not going to Comic Con, I'd love to have that.

Anyway, today I told my best friend that I was a brony. Turns out that a lot of her friends are fans too. But I'm glad I finally got it off my chest.

Oh, you have to go to Comic-Con to get it? I didn't even read the article. :I

Ok onto the competition between Episode 20's. Green Isn't Your Color and It's About Time

This... is a tricky one to decide between the 2 because in my opinion these aren't the episodes of the Season but I think they're still pretty great episodes. I think in terms of Season Rankings though Green Isn't Your Color is higher among the Season 1 episodes then It's About Time is in Season 2 episodes. But they're also not the worst episodes either. And it's a whole different thing altogether comparing a Season 1 episode and a Season 2 episode. A big similarity is that in both Twilight, Spike, and Pinkie play an important part in the episodes. More so in It's About Time but still. Other then that there isn't very much. An episode about the Fashion Industry isn't normally going to have much similarity with one about Time Travel.

Ok first of which we have Green Isn't Your Color an episode based around Rarity and Fluttershy where we see Fluttershy become famous after Rarity uses her as a model. With ensuing jealousy, secrets, and hilarious antics. This episode expands on the relationship between what is most decidedly the most feminine of the Main 6. Like Suited for Success this is probably one of those episodes you want to avoid showing to those new to the show. Green Isn't Your Color is a great episode and all, but the whole Fashion Show thing could potentially turn people away. But for most it's a treat of an episode once you've become a fan. Fluttershy is adorable, Rarity shows more awesome overdramatization, Pinkie Pie is (some would say creepy) hilarious, and more. Photo Finish was kinda interesting, I'll admit I though she was basically Pony Gaga initially even though she's actually based on Anna Contour. Her theme was also kinda awesome too. Besides Fluttershy and Rarity: Twilight, Pinkie Pie, and Spike play a little sub-role. With Twilight meeting with Rarity and Fluttershy, often after the other had just left. Pinkie Pie making sure Twilight doesn't spill out the secret. And Spike showing more of his crush on Rarity. I find Pinkie's hiding in the most unexpected places (Including a Mirror for crying out loud) and shouting "FOREVER" pretty funny. Oh and the "Stick a Cupcake in my Eye" in which Twilight accidentally pokes her eye (Which ya know funnily enough I just realized that there is a little similarity. In both Twilight gets her eye damaged in some way!). Oh and seeing Twilight use her magic to use Fluttershy as a puppet was awesome. It's probably not fun from Fluttershy's perspective, but after that scene I was like "Note to self: Don't F-(BUY SOME APPLES) with Twilight". An interesting tidbit is that some of the Gala dresses make a cameo in this episode which firmly adds a little bit of continuty which wasn't done nearly as often in Season 1. Not one of my big favorites in Season 1, but I do understand how Rarity and Fluttershy fans can love the episode alot. In terms of both Rarity and Fluttershy episodes it doesn't hold much ground compared to say A Dog and Pony Show or Dragonshy but otherwise it's just a good episode.

Now as for It's About Time. I kinda think that some people are going to think I'll choose It's About Time since obviously it's centered around my favorite pony. Which isn't the case because while Twilight is indeed far and away best pony in my honest opinion, I do feel that this was my least favorite of the mostly Twilight episodes though considering Lesson Zero, Return of Harmony, and Canterlot Wedding is the competition that's not saying It's About Time is entirely bad. It just doesn't compare to what I consider the gems of the season. In this episode Twilight has some schedule trouble when she's visited by a mysterious future self that tries to warn her about something but the ever-so curious Twilight asks too many questions for too long and Future Twilight (Which looks Badass by the way, even if she got that way through not-so-badass ways) can't get her full message along. Which then worried the current Twilight that some really terrible event is going to happen. Setting out to eliminate any possible threat. Including what we find out exist in Ponyville is the monsters of the gates of Tartaurus (Please. Oh please can we see that in Season 3 at least once. It just seems like a waste to reference a gate holding dangerous monsters as if it was a noodle incident), Dams breaking, Storms brewing, etc. But then when Twilight recieves a Papercut in the same spot that the cut Future Twilight had she believes she hasn't changed the future at all. Which she then tries some rather desperate ways of preventing it such as not moving at all which because of an incident with Rainbow and Spike doesn't work either. I also gotta say Pinkie Pie was utterly hilarious in this episode, and played a much more important role then in Green Isn't Your Color. Leading the panic, Madame Pinkie Pie, going along with Twilight sneaking in, etc. I admit when Twilight used the spell to warn herself I facepalmed a bit. But at the very least it makes a Stable Time loop. Who knows what could of happened if Twilight hadn't. Would 2 timelines exist? Would it mess up Time and Space? Something else entirely? Whatever it is. It was for the best that she did it. Also some pretty neat continuty references what with Pinkie Sense appearing again (Bonus points that again it injured Twilight in some way) and the Dam from Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. It's kinda funny that she thinks she needs to sneak into the Library for something. It's not like she was trying to steal something. Though maybe she thinks she thinks she could be in major trouble if they know she's trying to stop time which sounds like a pretty powerful spell that's off limits to most Unicorns. This episode does make you wonder what other kind of spells that possibly exists if ones like spells for going back in Time for a limited amount of time or stopping time. What else can Unicorns perform if they're adept enough? The sky's the limit it seems. Anyway, this isn't in my Top 10 of Season 2 but it has enjoyable moments. Even some that we hope get expanded upon in the next Season.

This was a really, really, really, REALLY, tough choice. But... I'm going to give this one to It's About Time. This is a really narrow one because I both love these episodes even if they're not among my favorites of each season. Season 2 has a more plentiful amount of Quality episodes that I find more enjoyable then It's About Time, and in terms of Season 1 Green Isn't Your Color might be an 11 or 12. But once again it's a whole different story when the 2 face off. And this came down to which if there were 2 channels that were airing one or the other and I couldn't see them both. I'd choose It's About Time not because it's centered around my favorite pony. That may influence some of it, but placing the whole Time Travel aspect and Pinkie Pie's hilarious moments in the episode while playing a much bigger role then just saying "FOREVER!" in Green Isn't Your Color. Another thing is that gate of Tartaurus thing. If that appears again at all later in the show then It's About Time's impact will be much bigger. If it never appears again it will sadly just be a noodle incident. But regardless, I enjoy It's About Time a teensy-tiny bit over Green Isn't Your Color. But with this point. It is now impossible for Season 2 to lose. Season 1 could tie but considering what's coming up. I wouldn't count on it.

Season 1: 7
Season 2: 13

Alright 2 episodes that take us outside of Ponyville AND Canterlot for once. Over a Barrel against Dragon Quest

I basically already said one of the similarities but yes both episodes take us to an area we didn't see up until then. You have Appaloosa for Over a Barrel and the Dragonlands in Draqon Quest. A big noticable similaritiy though if you pay attention to the writers is that they're made by the least liked writers of each Season. Dave Polsky who made the somewhat controversial Feeling Pinkie Keen, and Merriwether Williams who stills gets as much if not more flak for Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. These are also the last episodes they made for the Season and at least are recieved fairly more well then their first outings. It's up to personal opinion though on how much they improved. Both episodes include Spike being seperated from the Main 6 for a little while. Though an interesting contrast is that he's unwillingly taken by the Buffalo but he had a good time with them while when he willingly goes to meet Dragons it doesn't go very well to say the least. Anyway let's begin.

On a rewatch of Over a Barrel I actually feel like I've grown to appreciate it more then I did previously. Even if you don't really like Dave Polsky and/or his episodes (Though he has only 2 this one and Feeling Pinkie Keen) all that much. I think the train scene at the beginning is a top moment from the first Season. Rarity and Applejack arguing over Bloomberg, the Main 6 staying up and annoying Spike, "Fluttershy is a tree", etc. The fact that the show went from horse-pulled trains to motor trains in Season 2 is a little weird. But I think we can overlook that. Anyway, some may not think this, but I do consider Over a Barrel an Applejack episode. Though it's also shared with Rainbow Dash. Where the conflict between them appears again from Fall Weather Friends. Though this time it's over matters that's a lot more important then competition. As they split on issues that was very much something in American History during the 1800s. Which while in American history it didn't quite end in Apple Pie as it does here I found that recognizing that there's issues that both have a good and a bad side. The episode doesn't dumb down the Settlers nor do they do the Indians (Which kinda makes the whole scene where the Chief is down on the ground with a pie in his face as if he was shot dead and some others crying a little silly). They still had to make it a little family friendly by having no one seriously hurt at the end. One complaint of this episode is that had some of the Main 6 not intervene, or if one of them had not decided to sing again that the conflict wouldn't have had happened in the first place. Though then again as soon as the Chief got a taste of the Apple Pie he proposes a new idea as a compromise with the Settlers. Back to Applejack/Rainbow Dash, Applejack after meeting with the settlers learn of the plight of them dealing with the buffaloes and Rainbow learns what the Settlers had done against the Buffaloes. When the Main 6 reunite this leads to an argument between the 2 giving out the points each one has for doing what they did. In which Twilight acts like the ref and says enough is enough and now it's time to think of some way for the 2 sides can work together. Pinkie has a plan but let's just say it doesn't work too well. I actually like that because it turns into something different where a song is the reason the conflict ends. The reaction to Pinkie's song subverts them (Though I suppose if you liked "You Gotta Share, You Gotta Care" you may not feel that way). And the chief saying "That was the worst performace we've ever seen" was just hilarious. Though this just leads to a big facepalm when it seems like as the time for battle draws near that the Chief was going to cancel it and then WHAM Pinkie starts singing again. Angering the chief when then starts the Charge. Some people like to think that this was a bit of an apology for Feeling Pinkie Keen where Pinkie's zaniness works out at every turn but in this episode it makes it worse. Also, I gotta say that Braeburn and Little Strongheart were pretty neat characters. They could have even been the heroes of the episode had Applejack and Rainbow not been the ones to speak instead. The episode still doesn't fully get the whole scale about conflicts between Settlers and Indians. But that's not you're really looking for. If you want to see an accurate representation of Settlers and Indians? Either see a documentary or read a book about them, albeit in Friendship is Magic they play it a little better them other cartoons that feature similar conflicts as no settlers are complete jerks and the indians aren't complete stereotypes. Still you probably shouldn't be looking for an 100% accurate plot about Settlers and Indians in My Little Pony. But I have to say that Over a Barrel is an improvement over Feeling Pinkie Keen though YMMV whether that's saying much.

Now onto Dragon Quest. Made by what some fans might call the Mysteriwether Mare-Do-Welliams due to her writing the episode that is the most disliked of Season 2 and possibly the entire series. Though perhaps it's a little unfair because besides Mare-Do-Well and Dragon Quest she also did Hearth's Warming Eve and Putting Your Hoof Down. So at the very least Merriwether has more experience what with 3 episodes under her belt before she did this one. Though to my concern, all that this episode did was justify Secret of My Excess a little more as when Twilight tried to find anything about Dragons in her library she found nothing. It helped that episode a bit but it didn't really do much for the very episode it was in. Though the opening scene with Fluttershy was awesome, seeing her be more assertive enough to say no to overpower Rainbow Dash for a quick moment with a callback to Putting Your Hoof Down. I see some complain that Fluttershy should no longer be afraid of Dragons because of Dragonshy. That was only one dragon, If Fluttershy went she'd be seeing hundred upon thousands of Dragons flying through the sky. If you stand up to one tarantula if you're scared of big spiders that doesn't suddenly mean you're going to be brave enough to be in a room with hundreds of them crawling around. But anyway enough about Fluttershy this episode is about Spike after all though I gotta say the Army type stuff that the Twilight, AJ, Rainbow, and Pinkie had on were pretty cool. Biased more to Twilight's because favorite pony and I like Army helmets more then hats but yeah. Spike comes by in an apron and is sort of laughed at and embarrasingly complimented by Rainbow and Rarity respectively. Which makes him angry. At the treebrary he asks Twilight what exactly he is and she doesn't know at all and a callback to Cutie Mark Chronicles (Which speaking of which I can't wait to get to that one the next day!) is made. Twilight looks for any information but again finds nothing. In the morning Spike decides that he wants to join the Dragon Migration much to the surprise of Twilight, Rainbow, and Rarity. The latter 2 try to stop him but Twilight lets him go... though of course they follow him. Anyway the scene where Spike travels to the Dragon Lands was pretty cool and whatnot with the Background music and all. We even got a reapparance by Cranky (Though I wonder what he was doing) until he finally reaches there. Where he then meets the Teenage dragons which to say the least weren't really fun characters to watch. They were another group of Dragons, can't really tell if they were more annoying then the Pegasi Bullies from Sonic Rainboom but nonetheless I didn't really like them much running into the same territory as Gilda in terms of making an episode harder to watch again simply because of them. The scene did have a funny visual gag what with Crackle and all. And Twilight, Rarity, and Rainbow trying to help Spike was very supportive of them too. But the big part happens during the Phoenix egg raid where after a struggle we find Spike has one egg and the Dragons order him to smash it in which Spike refuses on the morality choice that Dragons also came from eggs. I'm going to assume that Phoenixes are immortal from dying from aging by they can still be killed by violent means which obviously smashing the egg would kill the Embryo and thus the Phoenix. WHich at the same time brings up some fridge horror that we can imply that those dragons could have possibly killed many Phoenix babies during their raids which means these Dragons planned on doing something that we'll never see any antagonist do and that's kill. Though that doesn't really make them any better, it just makes them more complete monsters then anything. I almost kinda hoped that Rainbow had at least kicked one of them before the Ponies and Spike escaped. Though as much as I would of loved seeing Twilight, Rarity, and Rainbow Powerpuff Girl it up on the Dragons it probably was better to simply escape. When they get back a Phoenix is born and is now Spike's official pet. Spike afterwards names him Pee Wee. At the end Spike has chosen that he prefers the lifestyle he has always been in with the Ponies instead of trying to get himself in a life that he wouldn't enjoy. And even tells Peewee that he's going to teach him about that.

I'm actually going to choose Over a Barrel for this one. Dragon Quest had neat moments with Fluttershy in the opening, the Dragons in the Sky, and Spike traveling there. But I think the difference maker here is I'd rather see APPPPPPPLLLEELOOSA!, Braeburn, and Little Strongheart again then the dragonlands and those dragons again. Could be History related too for my choice. Dragon Quest was nice but overall I like the characters that were entirely new on over a Barrel much more then in Dragon Quest So in this bout of most disliked Writers, Polsky comes out on Top. This point goes to Season 1

Season 1: 8
Season 2: 13
