No, A Dog and Pony Show is a Rarity episode!

Well I kind of meant as in a shared episode with her. Some could argue that Spike also played a big enough part in A Dog and Pony show to consider him as a share with Rarity in regards to focus.

Anyone else have any episodes they haven't seen yet?

Griffon the Brush-off
Boast Busters
Dragonshy
Look Before You Sleep
Sonic Rainboom
A Dog and Pony Show

For whatever reason, I never saw any of these.

Which of these would you say are worth watching?

What Snowstalker said. Though I suggest you see all of those you listed sometime too. Boast Busters is vital in getting to know a rather popular one-shot character that people still want to see again.

I'll probably be able to see those first four I listed pretty soon.

Finally finished! (And I have to double post again to do this xD)

At last. I have reached the end of these comparisons as I get into the last 2 episodes of each season. I will do Party of One Vs. Canterlot Wedding Part 1 first and right after in the same post will be Best Night Ever Vs. Canterlot Wedding Part 2

In terms of similarties there is at least one major one. They're both written by Megan McCarthy. And they both center around a social event. Though it'd be an understatement to say a birthday party doesn't have as many participating as a Royal Wedding. Both episodes also have the central character make assumptions. Big difference of course being that Twilight was right. They also both have a song played within the first 5 minutes of the episode. Though I'm going to make it clear that B.B.F.F.F. trumps Singing Telegram for a couple of reasons but there's a personal huge reason I'll get into. Other then that not too much else. It's a single episode against an episode that's continued on from the next one.

Party of One is such a fun episode. Starting right off with a Pinkie song and getting into a party for her pet Gummy which after some suspicions and miscommunication almost leads Pinkie to replacing her friends with Inanimate Objects. It's going to be a fun ride to watch any time it leads to that. For some, this may be the one episode that finally had Pinkie grow on them. Because be honest, some people were going to be initially annoyed with her because she's the crazy character. However it's this episode that makes her different from others like her. This one episode mader her all the difference between her and someone like Spongebob (Who has also had inanimate objects as friends but only after wanting to stay inside forever instead of what with Pinkie who thought her friends didn't like her anymore.). The Main 6, Spike, and Gummy have a nice little party and after they're done. One of the 6 suggests that they do one soon. Though the driving point of the episode begins when Pinkie asks them to go to an after Birthday Party the very day after. So she sets out to invite everyone once again. But this time they all decline with simple reasons. Twilight needed to Study, Applejack to...buck apples (She's the element of Honesty, so she has a harder time lying after all), Rarity has to clean her (purposely) dirty mane, and Rainbow Dash & Fluttershy have to help a bear move. When Fluttershy thinks it over she sees them for what they are: Excuses. Making her more suspicious is Twilight sneaking up to Sugarcube Corner to receive a package from the Cakes. Pinkie listens in via a Can phone and overhears Twi saying she doesn't want Pinkie to know about this. Setting off a package exchange between the rest of the Main 6 as Pinkie follows. Twilight to Rarity to Fluttershy to Rainbow. When Rainbow receives it she notices Pinkie but then starts running setting off a very similar chase to the one in Griffon the Brush-Off only with an angry Pinkie (Her appearance inside the bell was kinda creepy) and the chase ends as Rainbow makes it to the barn. Where one of the most hilarious moments of the series play as Applejack and Pinkie have a stare down. AJ trying all she can as hard as it is to deceive for her. Pinkie Pie eventually leaves but she's still suspicious as all heck. So she interrogates the one person she knows could possibly help: Spike. By tempting him with gems she asks him to talk. (This is a particular silly scene) However she turns out to be too forceful and Spike just says what Pinkie tells him to tell her. Which might come as a jab to interrogation. Thus Pinkie Pie turns sad, made more visually with Pinkie's poofy mane becoming straight. A commercial break moment later she's talking to Inanimate Objects and making them speak. It's all so funny and insane. Rainbow Dash comes by to get Pinkie to the Barn, but as Pinkie believes her friends have abandoned her she refuses. But Rainbow Dash being the Element of Loyalty won't back down to get her friend and she literally drags Pinkie all the way there. What I like about the barn scene is that Pinkie doesn't immediately go back to normal as soon as it's shown it's her Birthday Party she thinks it's a farewell party until they point out how that can't be and Pinkie returns to her happy self. Overall Party of one is a great episode. Among the Top 10 of Season one for sure. There is one little minor problem I want to say first. Besides the very beginning and the Cakes appearing later on. Ponyville seems like a ghost town. Like nobody else is there except for the Main 6. It's nothing too bad, but it just seems odd to me anyway. But yes. Party of One, great episode.

Now for Part 1 of Canterlot Wedding. I just want to take this moment to say that I absolutely loved the Season 2 Finale. It was absolutely amazing and totally blew my expectations. Everything overall was just wonderful and it made sure Season 2 ended with a bang. Starting with a picnic, Spike gives the Main 6 a letter about the Royal Wedding. Telling that Celestia has assigned each of them big parts in setting up the whole thing. Rarity is more excited then anyone else during this as she's told that she will design the Wedding dresses. And Rainbow is all ears when she's asked to perform a Sonic Rainboom. However Spike didn't give Twi the message that told who was getting married first. Which happens to be Princess Mi Amore Cadenza and... her brother Shining Armor. Now I know what some of you were or are thinking still. How come if her brother was so important to her, why did she never mention him before. Unfortunately there is no easy way to answer that. As yes Shining Armor probably wasn't planned originally back when Season 1 was getting started. But it has to be made clear that it wasn't Executive Meddling that forced Twilight to suddenly have a brother and by extension a foalsitter like Cadence. As Lauren Faust herself helped with the Season 2 Finale. I'll get into more of this a little later but the first came of course perhaps a huge reason why I like Shinining Armor: The B.B.F.F.F. song. It was a very sweet song to hear, though even though it's sung by Twilight not really one of my favorites regarding the song itself. But what I found more special what was shown in the meantime. If you saw my thing for Cutie Mark Chronicles you'll know exactly what.
FillyTwilightS2E25.PNG

THAT'S RIGHT! FILLY TWILIGHT!.....ahem....
But yes anything with Filly Twilight's going to touch a soft spot. I just can't help it. To quote Fluttershy, she's just. so. cute. And by extension it makes me like Shining Armor because anyone that made Twilight as a filly smile like the previous picture is going to be in my good graces. Not having enough development time be damned. Anyway, Twilight is ticked at her brother for not even telling her he was getting married earlier and not personally and rather through paper. (Which I imagine these days it'd be like learning your brother was getting married by him texting you or through E-Mail). So Twilight's looking distraught while the rest are high anticipating the wedding. So they catch the ride to Canterlot covered by a huge bubble shield that Shining Armor created just for this event. She gives Shining a piece of her mind and he explains that some threat is lurking around. And that's why security measures have been put at it's height. Shining apologizes but tells Twi she's welcome to be Best Mare, which she gladly accepts. She's still a little tipped off on supposedly not knowing Mi Amore Cadenza but Shining tells she is Cadence her ol' Foalsitter. Which once again we get...
640px-Princess_Cadance_anything_but_S2E25.png

MORE FILLY TWILIGHT!...ok sorry. No more of that.
Which we are shown that Cadence was a very sweet foalsitter and has the ability to amplify love where it existed. Where we are shown making an arguing couple happy again (Bonus points for it having Sibsy's OC). The Swing set and the Picnic Cadence with Filly Twilight was all that was needed to endear her to me. And it gives more stuff to the fact that what we think is Cadence acting like a Bridezilla. Which leads to separate scenes with most of the Main Cast where she does something rather rude or demanding making Twilight all the more angry. Rejecting AJ's Food, telling Rarity to redo the dresses, Making fun of Pinkie's Party (Not that she noticed), etc. At the table Twilight tells her friend of her suspicions, but her friends think she's overreacting and being a little protective of her brother. Twilight goes to see Shining but before she can start talking Cadence gets a hold of Shining first and uses some freaky magic on him. Which makes Twilight believe she's using mind control. and that Cadence is also evil. She runs off to tell the rest of the Main 6 but they're too excited about being the new Bridesmaids to listen properly. Twilight once again finds herself alone, . But we switch to a rehearsal of the Wedding being made hosted by Celestia. Twilight comes barging in with her accusations, and Cadence acts upset and cries off. And at that moment everything turns upside down for Twilight. She's heavily scolded by her brother, told she's no longer Best Mare, Abandoned by her friends, Most heartbreaking to her seemed to be Celestia's words though. This scene is just... emotional. It tugs at your heart, but I find that a good thing. If something gives you an emotional response I think that's a huge credit to the quality of the scene. And as heartbreaking the scene is with an added scene where Twilight reprises B.B.F.F.F. while crying on the steps... (*sniff* :'( *sniff*) it's as emotional any scene can get in the entire series. Then Cadence comes in, and Twilight aplogizes. But then a shocker happens. She says "You will be..." with an evil look as she drags Twilight underground with what looks like a magic spell that's taking her to the fiery depths of hell. Like... who in the f(BUY SOME APPLES)k saw that coming. I sure didn't. It was far more dramatic then the cliffhangars in either Return of Harmony and in the Pilot. Because do you know what kind of crazy theories would be going on if they had decided to split the Royal Wedding to 2 different weeks rather then air both on the same day? Everyone would be like "NO TWILIGHT D':" and it would be just buzzing with what's up with Cadence. In some ways I kinda wished it had done it. I'll explain it really soon in the following paragraph but for now. The first part is just amazing for having alot going for it. And it got me hyped for the following 2nd part after it which would only air a commerical break after.

This is actually a very easy decision. Canterlot Wedding, Part 1 wins. You may accuse it because it happens to have not only Twilight but scenes with Filly Twilight as the sole reason. But there's more to it and that. Party of One was an excellent episode. One of the best Season 1 had to offer. But for the most part the biggest thing it had going for it is Humor. Part 1 of Canterlot Wedding wasn't nearly as funny but it's far above Party of One in one thing: Emotion and Drama. The scene where Pinkie gets her hair straight is sad, but I get more "feels" from the scene where Twilight is abandoned and left alone on the stairs then the small scene where Pinkie is sad and the next moment it goes to a humor scene with her going psycho and talking to Inanimate Objects. Also as to getting into why I kinda actually would of liked if they split it. There's another show that I enjoy, perhaps even more then Friendship is Magic called Avatar: The Last Airbender. It had dramatic cliffhangers that led to something in the next episode that we had to wait a week for to see alot. And while Canterlot Wedding Part 1 probably doesn't exactly reach to that level it would be the closest FiM got to something as epic as as one of those. I would of gone "NO TWILIGHT D:" for most of the week but it would of also made great suspense to wait. But having it only about a few minutes later didn't hurt at all. I think anyone would be surprised to see a My Little Pony show to see a pony get essentially dragged into the fiery depths of hell if you didn't see the context or what came after it. Party of One was amazing but it just can't beat the fact that this centers around my favorite pony, has Filly Twilight, has heartbreaking but great emotional scenes, and a surprising end. This one goes to Season 2.

Season 1: 9
Season 2: 16

And lastly for the final one. Best Night Ever against Canterlot Wedding Part 2

Big similarity is of course both take place in Canterlot. This time they don't have the same writer. As of course the writer for Part 1 also did Part 2. So someone different did Best Night Ever. They also both have more then one song. Though just telling you before I get more into this that I like This Day Aria more then At the Gala, and similarly Love is in Bloom more then Pony Pokey. Both feature something we didn't expect too. Like Flutterage for Best Night Ever, and a new villain plus an honest-to-goodness fight sequence with the Main 6. Also in both Celestia plays a nice role if a bit still small in both. But let's get into this and finally end my part in this.

Best Night Ever was absolutely amazing at the time it came. I believe it's Top 5 of Season 1 overall for having quite a bit of memorable moments. And added a whole layer to Fluttershy's character. The date has arrived for the gala. The date the Main 6 has waited since Episode 4. This did kinda make for a neat subtle arc. Which I give this episode and Season 1 alot of credit for. We see the dresses and the hopes that were produced in Ticket Master. Though we finally find out what it was that Twilight wanted to go for. Talk with the Princess about Magic and such. The opening scene both outside and in the Spa before they head out is pretty fun to see. Kinda funny to see Pinkie Pie have straight hair for just a second considering this episode was right after Party of One. And Rarity hesitating on letting Spike in very funny. Anyway they go to the Gala having Rarity use her... influence to get Stallions to get them there. Once there they step out, give Spike a little bit of a tailboner and starts the At the Gala song which is a masterpiece. Perhaps the best that came out of Season 1. Each of the Main 6 getting a verse, and a full chorus to back them up added a really special flavor to it. Best one probably being Rainbow's for adding a little bit of Rock to the mix. After the song, the Main 6 set off to start what they wanted to do. Twilight speaking with Celestia, Applejack hoping to raise money for her family by selling products, Rarity meeting with Prince Blueblood, Fluttershy seeing all the exotic animals, Pinkie Pie partying down, and Rainbow hanging with the wonderbolts. Initially it seems like a success. Twilight stands by Celestia's side, Applejack sells a pie within a few seconds, Blueblood seems interested in Rarity, Fluttershy excited to see all the different animals, Rainbow saves Soarin's pie and starts hanging out (And squees too!) But Pinkie Pie is the first to realize that something's going on here and it just goes downhill from there for the Main 6. The ponies aren't enthusastic for Pinkie's attempt at starting a wild party, Celestia is busy greeting everyone going to the Gala with barely any free moment to talk with Twi, Applejack doesn't get any sales an hour after she sold that pie to Soarin, Blueblood turns out to be a selfish jerk, the Animals are all running away from Fluttershy, and because of the celebrity of the Wonderbolts they keep being dragged from Rainbow. This frustrates or saddens the Main 6 to no end, but they don't give in and they try harder to make it better. However things just get worse and the frustrations go to the limit. Even for one Pony who wasn't exactly known for getting Angry at all. And that's Fluttershy's transformation to Flutterage. It was just hilarious to see at the time it was new as we wouldn't of expected that to happen to her. But it did, and I enjoyed every second of it. One problem I must say is Blueblood. He's probably the worst character to come out from Season 1. I'd even say I like Gilda more then him and you know how much Gilda kinda bumped me the wrong way if you saw Griffon Vs. Sisterhooves. Again I know he's supposed to be that way in order to frustrate Rarity enough but that doesn't shake the fact that I just can't like him (Outside of the tumblr that was made for him, that was pretty great.). A little later Pinkie makes the band which includes popular background Pony Octavia start the Pony Polka to try to start up the big party once more. In the meantime we're seeing the other 5 continually get frustrated in attempts to get what they wanted. Especially poor Fluttershy who at this point is in full Rage mode. After which, the others in the Gala scold Pinkie about getting the wrong idea of what kind of party. Which she starts going wilder, and Applejack comes in with a fancy cake. Which she came in after a brief conflict with her food and Blueblood. Pinkie cannonballs onto AJ's cart and the cake is flung towards Blueblood and Rarity. And Blueblood uses Rarity as a shield. Raising the roof of Rarity's anger. She scolds Blueblood and shakes some of the cake frosting on her and he knocks into a statue which Rainbow goes to stop it's fall. But she loses her balance and the statue topples pillars inside the room. Twi and Celestia come in and Twilight says something she probably should learn from Timmy Turner about saying that it can't get any worse. And indeed things do get worse, the doors slam open and Animals flood in with an angry Fluttershy charging in yelling "You're... going to LOVE ME!" one of the greatest moments of the series being right there. And all hell breaks loose. Made better by Celestia telling Twi to "Run". On the steps a rather funny reference to Cinderella is made though Rarity smashes the Glass Slipper after Pinkie points it out. And they head to the donut shop to tell eachother about their horrible experience and meet back with Spike who's rather perturbed he was left behind at the Donut shop. Celestia comes by and the Main 6 apologize for essentially ruining it. But Celestia says it was the best one because they messed with it. Saying that the Gala is always awful and boring. (This episode is the very reason why Trollestia is pretty popular, she invited the Main 6 to make the Gala more interesting. YMMV whether this is a good thing or not). But they realize that being together and laughing made the whole night all worthwhile. Thus bringing an end to Season 1. Amazing episode and was nice to see again

Now we get into the final part here. Canterlot Wedding, Part 2. And it just continued on bringing awesome stuff right after the spectacular first part. At the very beginning we're treated to what has become one of my favorite animation sequences in the entire series: The cave scene. All those reflections and the lighting all around Twilight. It was so epically awesome I had to make a sig in tribute to it which you can see below everyone of my posts currently. And the very possibility that fake Cadence allowed Twilight to find the Real Cadence in a way to possibly get the real one hurt badly or even killed by an angry Magic laser firing Twilight. Luckily, real Cadence manages to gain Twi's trust by doing their little secret hand...or er...hoofshake and they share a heartwarming reunion. But they can't stop now as they're still trapped in the caves and must find a way out somehow. After which comes This Day Aria. I have to say that this song is my favorite of the entire series thus far. Something about is just gives me chills every few seconds. Chills in a good way. Both Cadences sing very well, and while the lyrics aren't the best they're not bad either. And it's given plenty of emotion to make up for any problems. In particular when Fake Cadence hits the high note on the line "In my heart, there is no room". Even though I've barely seen Cadence before the Finale started This Day Aria this just endeared me further by performing in what in my opinion the best song in the Series. Add that to the fact with the whole Filly Twilight thing and you bet I like Cadence. Again, lack of character development be damned she singlehandedly endeared me to her with the flashback in Part 1 that gets a reference to with the Hoofshake in Part 2 and single-handedly made my favorite song in the series thus far. After the song, Fake Cadence is up at the Altar and Twi and Cadence has found the exit but they're temporarily stopped by brainwashed Bridesmaids. However, they are turned aside by a bouquet Cadence throws and they make it before the vows are made. Initially when everyone thinks it's only Twilight interrupting, everyone just feels like Facepalming... until the Real Cadence speaks and reveals what's going on. Fake Cadence is actually a Changeling. And not only a changeling, she's the very queen of the Changelings. And she reveals her true form, Queen Chrysalis. A rather creepy but really neat insectoid design. What I like this is this is another thing no one saw coming before seeing the Finale. Most of us were actually expecting a more slice-of-life kind of 2-parter where the Dark secret that Cadence had wasn't something really, really evil. But instead we get a brand new villain which YMMV whether she can go toe to toe with Discord for best villain in the show but made for a great surprise. I've said before that it's not very often the show surprises us, but in the Season 2 Finale alone so much happened that it was just totally unreal for a FiM episode in a good way. Moving on the Queen introduces herself and her plans that currently seem unstoppable as Shining Armor is in a hypnosis daze and her minions are attacking the shield that is slowly weakening one by one. But then Celestia goes off to deal with the Queen herself, which was yet another surprise. Celestia actually tried to do something. In Return of Harmony all she did was send those letters back to Spike to inspire Twilight to turn the tide against Discord. She didn't try to face off with Discord herself at all. But in Canterlot Wedding she heads straight into action even if she's shortly defeated afterwards. Making Chrysalis a pretty big threat. Injured, Celestia tells the Main 6 to retrieve the Elements of Harmony to fight the queen. They head right off but not before they get an obstacle or rather hundreds of them in their path as when they go out the Changelings have succesfully broken the sheild and are now at full-force attacking the Main 6. Which leads to an awesome fight scene with just the Main 6 and Changelings that can transform into clones of them. It was about time the Main 6 got their inner Powerpuff Girl shown. They were kicking a(*BUY SOME APPLES*) and it was all so epic. And I'm sure the fans making that fighting game were pleased that now their game can be a little closer to canon then they ever thought it could be. Yes, it turned out to be fruitless as they're eventually overwhelmed and they fail to get the Elements but I wouldn't change that scene at all. Was very happy to see the Main 6 kick some flank. Chrysalis after which gets a little overconfident and sings a little reprise verse of This Day Aria. Twilight frees Cadence from her uh, gooey hoofcuffs and tells her to go to Shining to snap him out of it. Shining gains himself back and tries to summon his spell but he was drained quite a bit by Chrysalis. However, Shining still loves Cadence. And what was Cadence's power we learned in part 1? She amplifies love where it exists and in this case it refills Shining's power and the 2 together perform a powerful shield spell that is amplified by Cadence's Magic that completely expels all the Changelings and Chrysalis out of Canterlot (The fact Chrysalis disappeared in a star made me think we'll be seeing her again. It was basically Team Rocket's way of disappearing all the time) and saving the day. With the Changelings plan averted, the real Wedding can begin and everyone can enjoy the reception party at the end. Which was probably part Victory celebration too. And Cadence each does a little thing with each of the Main 6 she didn't get to do being stuck in the caves earlier and all. Shining and Cadence wed, and the reception goes like the wild party that Pinkie may have wanted back in Best Night Ever. With Twilight singing Love is in Bloom which sounds very much like some of the songs that play at the end of Disney films. Rainbow Dash performs the Sonic Rainboom and everyone just having a good time. And ending an absolutely great Season. Part 2 of Canterlot Wedding just added more overall awesomeness. And I believe the entire Canterlot Wedding was better paced then both Return of Harmony and the Pilot. Would I of liked it longer? Of course I would. I'd love if all the episodes were longer though. So that's that not much of a problem really. I was just so satisfied with the Finale and for a few days or even a week afterward I could barely stop thinking about it. Just excellent, excellent stuff.

This is at least a little bit harder then the decision for Party of One and Part 1 of Canterlot Wedding. But still Part 2 of Canterlot Wedding also wins this. Believe me I enjoyed Best Night Ever all a Brony can. But overall I find more rewatchable moments in Part 2 of the Wedding then in Best Night Ever. Flutterage was absolutely awesome but it's nothing compared to the combination of the Cave scene, This Day Aria, the reveal of Chrysalis, the Fight scene, etc. Going back to when I mentioned Avatar: The Last Airbender. It too had an awesome Season Finale in Season 2 that featured a Crystal Cave and couldn't help but be reminded of that. And while in A:TLA the Season 2 Finale actually didn't go well for the Heroes but in FiM there is a good ending the fact that the Main characters fight their way also sort of reminded me. Again FiM doesn't reach the same level as A:TLA but Canterlot Wedding in alot of ways was the closest it gets. I feel more emotion, see more surprises, and overall just enjoy the entirely of the Finale more then a majority of FiM's episodes. It'd be an easy decision if on 2 different channels one was showing Party of One and then Best Night Ever and the other was showing Canterlot Wedding. It just has alot of what I could ever want. And the inevitability that the episodes will probably be something important for Season 3 or even beyond makes it all the more special. I just love Canterlot Wedding and thus Season 2 gets the Final points and we have reached the final result.

Well, you did at least acknowledge the greatness of Party of One. :P It probably comes down to a few factors:

1. Whether you prefer Twilight or Pinkie.
2. Whether you prefer humor-based episodes (Party of One and Lesson Zero being the prime examples) or more serious/emotional episodes.
3. What you think of Cadence & Shining Armor.

Anyone else have any episodes they haven't seen yet?

I have the amazing ability to miss Ponyville Confidential every single time it airs.

Yeah trust me. I didn't want to seem like I was disrespecting any episode. As even the ones that are usually hated like Mare-Do-Well I have some kind of respect for. I did kinda basically either choose what in my personal opinion was more entertaining or on the factor on which I would rather watch given the choice.

And yeah I suppose it did kinda go on those 3 factors. Though it's not like I have a deep bias against mostly comedy episodes. As I love Lesson Zero and evidently Party of One as well. I technically went with the Comedy over Drama in Owl's Well Vs. MMMystery but I think that's because MMMystery did better on the Comedy then Owl's Well did with the Drama.

The only episodes that air here are Boast Busters and Look Before You Sleep.
They appear on repeat cycle every Sunday at 1PM

I still need to get around to reading NV's summaries and comparison... :(

But in the meantime, here's the top ten Pony videos of May, voted by the community:

^Probably best you see them all on Equestria Forums for the specific thread for it I made there. It's kinda buried and all over the place if you try to look for them all in this thread.

I know this was already suggested, but there should be a episode of when Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy met.

That would be kinda cool. Albeit if Griffon the Brush-Off is any indication Rainbow Dash didn't know Pinkie very well before that point. RD and FS met as fillies obviously. Though it would be interesting to see how AJ met everybody.

Well, Pinkie did know every resident of Ponyville. We know that Dash and Fluttershy are old friends, but we're not sure how close the others were.

UM wanted me to post part 1 of his commentary on It's About Time: http://pastebin.com/wQ5fyYzQ

Actually, we don't even know that. The episode gave no indication that RD and Flutter knew each other; just that RD was defending a pony in need. And, as Fluttershy never went back to Cloudsdale, it's unlikely that they remembered each other in the first episode, even if they did know each other.

Pinkie Pie Is Awesome :3
