That's my point! This should have been covered in the finale, but everyone was happy with Twilight's transformation, including her.Northern Verve said:Gundam Tanaka said:why is she worrying about being a princess anyway

There's plenty to be concerned about in Twilight's position. Mainly how her new status will affect the relationship of her friends. Will she have to sometimes be wisked away from spending time with them? Will her friends still treat her like nothing has changed all that much? (I imagine Twilight would be rather awkward about having everypony including her friends bowing or trying to act dignified in front of her) Perhaps even thinking that they could eventually have envy for her. Twilight, despite the things she's done, is very modest, and becoming a Princess makes it a bit more difficult to maintain that. I imagine despite being a Princess now she'll still want to feel like one of the girls. And that will be a big concern for her going forward.
(At least given the reactions of the Mane 6 she won't have to worry about them not liking her new form. Twilight should not be thinking "What if they don't like Alicorn me?!" if Rainbow Dash said "New flying buddy :D" or Pinkie saying "ALICORN PARTEEHHHHHHHH" upon seeing her with Wings for the first time. As meta as it would be it shouldn't go that way given the general reaction of the Mane 6)

A lot of things changed about the episode in production. For example, Daniel originally wanted to look into how the mane six's cutie marks changing changed history, complete with a song! It was cut due to time, but just imagine if Pinkie had grown up on Sweet Apple Acres or if Rarity always did the weather for Ponyville! That would of certainly made things alot more deep... definitely would of been too difficult to convey within the time limit
Twilight originally got her wings during the first Elements of Harmony blast. The wings would appear followed by a commercial. Instead, they used the "celestial dimension" space that Twilight met Celestia in. I think they did the right thing here. I loved the whole Celestial Dimension scene
Daniel had a huge amount of work for the finale on his shoulders due to it being a musical. Much of the original was modified. He mentioned that he shut himself in his house for a week, writing a song each day! Wow, whether or not you like his work. You can't say he wasn't dedicated.
The end of the episode originally featured Twilight singing about her new wings to the tune of the show's theme. Ehhh, I'll say that's probably a good thing that didn't happen. The Reprise of Morning in Ponyville is a better touch.
Everyone on the show wanted it to be a 2 part episode (if not more!), but they were very happy with the outcome and how they handled the challenge of such a plot-heavy episode with music. Everyone who's a fan of the show would love extended episodes. It's a shame they couldn't have this one extended. But I agree they did fine otherwise.
Hasbro and the show team really wanted to do a musical episode. At first, there was talk of making episode 12 a musical, as Daniel worried about making such a story-heavy episode mesh in tone with how happy the songs tend to be. I don't think there'd be much reason to put so many songs in Games Ponies Play.
Celestia's song was originally longer and dealt with her history. Oh damn, that would of been awesome, No doubt it probably would of also caused additional rage though, as I'm sure it'd imply that Celestia wasn't born an Alicorn. Which would break so much fanon it wouldn't even be funny.
He envisioned Celestia's song as a parent watching a child grow up and mature. D'awwww. The lyrics did seem to kinda give off that vibe. Definitely makes it a pretty emotional moment.

Touching as it is, I don't want Twilight to gain wings just to give them away one or two episodes later. It would make the significance of Magical Mystery Cure made nil.

yeah Fluttershy never even uses her wings for a good purposeSiFi said:Twilight needs wings just as badly as Fluttershy needs them.

IIRC, Fluttershy was original designed as an earth pony and Pinkie Pie was going to be a white and yellow pegasus.Gundam Tanaka said:yeah Fluttershy never even uses her wings for a good purposeSiFi said:Twilight needs wings just as badly as Fluttershy needs them.
