I see this as being Dash's equivalent of Trixie. I'm kind of hoping for a new character. The one-off characters are some of the best, imo.

I wouldn't say this is a (little) girl's show, if it was, then I'm pretty sure that all the female ponies would try to ask somepony out on a date or only care about fashion(only Rarity does that though :P) and stuff like that. Not to sound offensive or anything.

Yeah this show's going to have that stigma for everyone at first. Even us fans sure as hell wasn't thinking this was going to be a great show at all when we heard the title or the opening theme for the first time.
Thankfully the show within it's actual episodes is far from it, and as long as you can learn to keep an open mind and don't let any stigmas bother you. You'll find a pleasant show that is perhaps the best cartoon to start in recent times. The team behind a show did an amazing job at getting a show that can hook people in as long as they could get past said stigmas.
Lauren also pretty much told everyone at one point that she didn't specifically make it for little girls and more for families. That means kids of both genders, teens of both genders, and even adults and/or parents of both genders. Which explains why there's a large amount of adult male fans.
And yeah while Rarity's the most girliest considerably the way she overreacts as a Drama Queen is well done by her voice actor and makes her a very entertaining part of the show. She's only obsessed with Dresses because that's her job and her passion in life. And it's not like the Fashion Industry is too easy for her. If you want an example of how horrible FiM could have been, you'd have to see an episode of G3 or an episode of the new Strawberry Shortcake... one of the things I can certainly be thankful for this Thanksgiving is Lauren Faust and the entire FiM staff for making the show how it is currently and not like those...

An exageration. Having seen a lot of pony reaction videos, cupcakes has died down. It used to be a popular thing to mention, but I haven't seen it being mentioned at all lately.
