I personally thought this was a great episode. Way better than the last two imo.

^Or perhaps some people just don't like the show. That's a possibility for why someone doesn't enjoy or even outright hates a cartoon. But you know, I'm just a crazy swagman; what do I know!

Someone didn't get the joke. Of course I know some people just don't like the show, who cares. We can't all like the same thing. But the last two people (one of which Lario) I met who watched and didn't liked the show both said something about tropes as the reason why they didn't like it. So I made a joke containing tvtropes' slogan "tvtropes will ruin your life".

This was probably my favorite episode of the whole season so far.

Did anoyone else see Lyra in a tophat and Sapphire Shores in that episode?

I didn't see Lyra in a Top Hat but I did catch Sapphire Shores, along with Hoity Toity and Photo Finish during the song.

You can see her from 5:45 to 5:47 in the second to last row, with the pink tophat.

Also, Lario said something about tropes? The last guy I met who watched and hated mlp said the same thing. I guess tvtropes really do ruin your life: not being able to just enjoy cartoons without constantly paying attention to the tropes used.

I didn't know exactly what to say about it, so I just put down that.


I can see how people enjoy the show and how it makes them very happy, but it just isn't appealing to me.

There was some nice stuff in there, with those cameos and things, but I didn't see the pony from the episode where Rarity makes dresses for all her friends. And I didn't really excpect the others to come to Canterlot for Twilights birthday.

It was good to see more of Canterlot. I thought, however, like the last episode had too many hero-saving-ponies scenes, this one had too many scenes of Rarity going to her post acquaintances' parties or whatever. And I liked the party scene and thought the part when she was going between the parties was pretty funny.

Something I noticed, though, is that Rarity's cat, Opal, was acting quite hostile when Fluttershy picked her up. I thought that all living creatures loved Fluttershy?

I don't think that's so much of Fluttershy's talent failing or anything as it is Opal's personality. She gets totally pissed more then most of the other pets, even Angel. And boy did Opal not get very treated very well xD She got stuffed in bags and was given a quick shower to make her look sick in front of Rarity's friends. Opal's not very nice normally so of course she's going to be bitter after all that.

That's what you noticed about Opal? The thing I noticed was her disapproving of Rarity's choices, tapping Twilight's dress during the song for instance (as in "go make the dress"). :P

Also, Opal is a cat, and a lot of cats care for no one but their owner.

I believe the Phoenix's name was Philomena (Don't know if I spelled that right) and it was basically being a troll since technically it's immortal. It dies but it just comes back to life again.

The Hub's holding this contest on who's the naughtiest and nicest characters from their shows. Representing My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is Pinkie Pie for Nice and Discord for Naughty. Round Two has already began, and both of them have made it there. Discord is up against Baroness from G.I. Joe Renegades, while Pinkie Pie is up against Strawberry Shortcake. Yeah I've been voting on that over there. Judging by the results the fans of the show has done alot for both Pinkie Pie and Discord. There was a time though where Pinkie was losing (Probably due to some troll campaign) in Round 1 while fans who perhaps only voted once let their guard down. I don't think they'll let it happen again. I fully expect Pinkie Pie to win the Nice side of the Competition, Discord too maybe in the Naughty. And while I expect Pinkie would win against Discord I wouldn't mind if Discord won the final either.

It was your implication that the people who dislike My Little Pony are just jaded, trope-obsessed weirdos that are too grouchy to see the "brilliance" of the cartoon; that's what bothered me.

Although in retrospect, your comment was more insulting TVTropes than anything else. Which is something I can get down with.
