Here's the episode guys

This episode was as mediocre as I expected it to be. Which is a pity. Especially since I expected last week's episode to be just as mediocre, and that one turned out to be super-duper awesome.

At least the next two weeks we'll get awesome episodes. Well I'm suspecting them to be awesome.

Should've been in the actual episode.

How have I not heard about this deleted song yet? It is way more awesome than the actual version.

BTW if you switch around quite a bit of things. Alot of Bronies can very well feel they were in the same exact situation for well... this very show!

Rainbow Dash in the episode doesn't want to read a book because she thinks reading is for "eggheads" like Twilight.

Similarly, some if not most fans of the show scoffed at the very concept of the show before giving it a try. Rainbow Dash's attitude towards books is more or less similar to people's initial reaction to finding out about the show. The hiding from friends even though she knows they like books too is a part of it as well, while it would of been easier to just admit it to them when they came to visit that's not Rainbow Dash's personality. It's evident in that Battleship game that she practically gave Twi and Fluttershy all the turns and the win. Rainbow Dash isn't afraid to lose, she's afraid to be wrong in this episode because of what she said before she started reading it. While people of course wouldn't sneak into a hospital just to see the new episode. Rainbow Dash went through something very similar to what some of the fans have done.

Don't knock something until you try it is a tried and true statement for alot of things. And I think that adds that extra bit of special to this episode.

Didn't like the episode much.
It felt... Well, I felt the writing was off. So was the animation. I think they could have gotten a lot more out of this episode, but most of it was filled with Daring Do nonsense that wasn't really resolved at the end. It felt underwhelming, especially after last week's 'sode.

What do you mean never really resolved? We got to see the ending of the book, and Rainbow got to have her books and settled things with her friends. I diid kinda notice a few things regarding the animation. And I still think the last 2 episodes were kinda better. But at least in regards to Rainbow Dash this is my favorite Rainbow episode so far. Even more then Sonic Rainboom.

Also quick question: Nabber, have you ever seen the Indiana Jones Films?

No, I've only seen some snippets of them. On the resolution part: well, she had a cheap escape which I'll allow, but then she just swoops down and steals the statue from the villain and he's like, "No! Now I can never defeat you for some weird reason!" and Daring is like, "Ha! Foiled again!" even though she was only five feet away from him.

It could be thought that that was just Rainbow Dash's interpretation of the story.

Also, great episode! I don't understand the complaints.

One last thing I wanted to comment on, when Rainbow Dash pretends to sleep for Twilight and Fluttershy, her mouth is... really big. Like it takes up over half her face! Yeah, strange animation goofs in this one.

Also, Pinkie Pie yelled something while Rainbow Dash was being chased... I couldn't make it out, what was it? Does anypony know?
So yeah, initial reaction: okay episode.
Well, I think the mouth thing was on purpose, because it's kind of funny.
I think Pinkie said "Hey, why wasn't I invited?"

I really liked this episode, it had a lot of great visual gags such as Rainbow Dash eating her cup, and swinging across the water when there was a bridge right over it. Probably one of my favourite Rainbow Dash episodes. Maybe my second favourite, because I liked Sonic Rainboom a bit better.
Yeah, the mouth thing WAS funny! Also, thanks.

OH YEAH, the cup! That was REALLY funny! Can't believe I didn't bring that up.

Edit: in response to Mason, My "complaint" could be due to the fact that they're doing the same old "encourage reading" trope, even though in this day and age, I don't really see that sort of problem anymore.

The moral was "don't knock it until you try it," not "give a hoot, read a book."
You COULD look at it like that... I mean, in a general sense, I suppose... But still, who would watch this episode an NOT think that this episode was basically to encourage reading books?

Let me answer that for you: VERY FEW!

Maybe if it was something OTHER than books, like if Rainbow Dash suddenly took an interest in something that isn't about extreme air moves or something athletic, maybe more people would get the "don't knock it until you try it" moral. But there's just something about books, you know?

It can be interpreted as both at the same time ya know. While yes it does promote Books it's not really in your face "READ A BOOK ALREADY" and Rainbow Dash scoffs off Books just like anyone would scoff off a concept that doesn't sound interesting to them but ends up pulling them in once they actually try it. Hence, Don't Knock it until you try it.

I already elaborateed on this on a previous post. But a reason I like this episode because the moral should be very dear to those who discovered this show and ended up liking it despite initial reactions just like how Dash turned around on Books.

You mean, the moral as in what's literally said at the end of this episode? I find that fascinating, as sometimes, the message that's presented at the end doesn't really match up with the events of the show, and it can be really confusing. Because you see one thing play out, then by the end of the episode, they tell you what it was SUPPOSED to be about, as in "this is what we were TRYING to get across", and that can be a bit annoying.

But it did get that across in the episode, at least IMO. What could they have done to make it alot more about "Don't knock it until you try it" then it already did?

I don't know... Again, it's the whole "book" deal... And when you see something like this, regardless of what the message is supposed to be, you're going to think "they're trying to encourage kids watching TV to read books for the umtheenth-billionth time".

You bring up a good point, the world is saved... Just because Danger-Do got that one treasure from that guy who wasn't even doing anything with it?

Say Read it and Weep today 13 hours ago. It does my heart good when someone decides they love reading. But I will stop there, because now I'm sounding like my 7th grade teacher. One question though: What's the point of having an off switch in a Death Chamber?

Classic Bond-villain stupidity.
