Damn it. Just when I thought we could finally get over the Derpy thing. The iTunes version does get changed. They removed the reference to the name Derpy, underped the eyes, and rerecorded the voice (Albeit the Voice does sound cuter and more female then the original).

Agh I'm annoyed. But I'm even more annoyed that this is going to probably ignite so many flames. Now the DVDs still have the unedited version. But this is just so ridiculous.

I'd like everybody in here to stay calm. But I can understand if you're very annoyed. We also still don't know if this will be the case for future airings on The Hub. But it looks like Mason was right at least for this.

There's a part of me that's hoping it's fake. But from what Seth is saying Equestria Daily plus the fact who would be cruel enough to make a prank video by making Derpy look like she's not derped?

Well if it's still derped. It's not as quite as far as it was originally.

I hope we get some official statements from anybody in the staff like Jayson. Hoping there's SOME sort of silver lining to all this...

WHAT HAS THE INTERNET DONE!

Um... At first I was taken aback, but listening to it... I kind of like the new voice. Like I said, her old voice sounded too deep and too masculine, this one seems more like the kind of voice you'd expect from Derpy.

I hate that she's not called Derpy, anymore, though. And her un-derped eyes.

Yeah I actually don't mind the voice. It does make her sound a bit more normal. (Not that I didn't like the original voice. It did kinda sound a little too deep but that was because we found out Tabitha didn't even know Derpy was supposed to be a girl) But yeah it's just kind of stupid for the Derpy referral get removed and the Underped eyes.

I'm more concerned about the total backlash then I am about the edit though.

I'm wondering what's up with Rainbow Dash's voice in that clip. Listen to it, it doesn't have the rasp that it usually has.

Yeah, that's another thing I didn't like about that scene, they obviously got some other actress to dub over Rainbow Dash's voice as well as Derpy's.

Got what I was hoping for. A quick response from at least someone who's in the staff

It seems there has been alot of buzz about Derpy being "fixed". I saw the New version of Derpy in "The Last Round-Up" and I do admit it didn't settle well with me. I still enjoyed the original. I didn't like the reason why they had her change. It didn't seem at all offensive in my opinion. When I first saw the scene in the animatic, I literally burst with joy. But I had a feeling that it might not settle with some fans and some people. Especially since people already have their own version of Derpy and people might get the wrong idea of her character.

Its not often that cartoons show fan content. Cause sometimes when you include Fan content, it usually can result to something negative (to fans or to others). And sometimes it also endangers the identity/essence of the show. Or if people like it, they will probably expect a lot more.To the point they might expect TOO much. So you could imagine my surprise when they decided to name Derpy and give her a voice.

Derpy has became more than just some fancy Easter egg in the show. She's became an Icon, a symbol to the fans of MLP:FIM. Though Derpy was created in a studio, her character was created by the fans. You can probably say that she represents all Bronies everywhere. Fans have enjoyed Derpy whenever they see her in the background until the point when she talked. The entire studio loves her as well. I was there in one of those Livestream chatrooms when people first heard her talk. It was quite entertaining how happy people were. So its no surprise to see people get really upset by this.

In a way, I understand why majority of fans are upset but blaming, pointing fingers and throwing hate around is not the way to do this. You're forgetting your own motto "Love and Tolerance". You bronies are one of inspiration and our greatest achievement. Don't sully your name by spreading Hate and intolerance. Remember, Tolerance is not the same as acceptance. If you are upset with something, display it in a more positive way. You'll get your message across much better than lashing it out with hate. Show some respect. Show some humility.

Oh I also want to address on a artist name Yamino. I've heard that she has been garnered a lot of hate by the Brony Community due to her not liking Derpy's portrayal. Let it be known, that she had NOTHING to do with the sudden change. She expressed an opinion on Derpy. That is all. She did not ask me to do this or anyone on the staff. I had to say this because the hate she's been receiving is unnecessary. So leave her be.

Also don't spam notes and messages to the people who work on the show. You're probably not going to get much out of it.

On the issue on Derpy whether she'll have the same Derp face expression and stuff. As an animator of the show, rest assured, she'll be fine. The show will still go on and I hope you will continue to support the show. Though Derpy is a great character, she is not essentially the reason why the show is awesome (though she is one of the Reasons). If Derpy never existed on that fateful scene in the first episode, would MLP be a bad show? Remember MLP is a great show because for what it is. I didn't know about Derpy until someone from the Studio pointed it out. I hope you'll still enjoy the show no matter what happens.

I hope this message will ease some of your minds. Thank you.

To tell the truth, I don't really like the new voice. The last voice was fine with me but this one sounds like generic girl voice. You don't usually give something generic to an important character. And the eye change sucks too.

I mean seriously, the Internet needs to grow up or some shit because complaining over a stupid little thing like that was probably the dumbest thing ever. Way to ruin Derpy Internet. Thumbs up for being picky!

Pwned, bronies. Pwned.

(Could someone please explain to me why correcting a messed-up character has caused such issues? Cause it seems to me that this wouldn't have been a big deal if you guys hadn't chalked Derpy up to be like a goddess or something...)

Is Derpy an important character?
My point exactly.

Did I miss the Derpy rage? Ah excellent, it's still going on.

Personally I don't give single fuck about this change, but bronies wouldn't be bronies if not at least some people would freak out about this, amirite? :P

Seriously though, Derpy has caused so much negative backlash no matter what they do with her, I think it's actually starting to set an example as in "never ever use a fan-created character on your show" to MLP and other shows.

Well whatever, she'll probably never have a role again, except for where's Wally like appearances. And its the same people that loved her that ruined her. Ironic.

The voice change is a distraction, I'm focused on Rainbow Dash not using Derpy's name. I was actually a little happy that she used no name instead of "Ditzy" or something, because Derpy losing her name for now is better than Derpy being forced to have a new one.

I wouldn't have cared one bit about the animation change or voice if Rainbow Dash had still called her Derpy.

I don't mind the new voice change, and I agree with Mason about Derpy's name not being called. Who knows? Maybe it just has to do with Hasbro not having the rights to it I take that back. If it was about name rights, they'd change the on-demand version, too. The eyes are still somewhat derped, so I'm fine with that (at least her eyes aren't completely straightened.

The new "I just don't know what went wrong" sounds less convincing. What if she was being sarcastic, and she meant to cause all that damage? Rainbow Dash obviously missed the sarcasm and responded with her own sarcasm.

Pwned, bronies. Pwned.
Number of times MLP's fanbase has been pwned by an official-type person: 1.
Number of times Homestuck's fanbase has been pwned by Andrew Hussie: Do numbers even go that far?

As a sidetrack to all of this. We have the sypnosis for Episode 22

Title: Hurricane Fluttershy
Air Date: March 24, 2012
Synopsis: Fluttershy needs to overcome her self consciousness in order to help Rainbow Dash and the other pegasi with the Rainy Season.

Yep more Fluttershy. Plus some Rainbow Dash. According to this thread's poll this should be the most anticipated episode xD

I would be fine if they changed the voice actor (actually, i think the new one is better) and removed her name.

But they had to underp the eyes.

They. Had. To. Un. Derp. The. Eyes.
