Mario Kart 7

Not necessarily people like Metal Mario. Remember Funky Kong? I daresay that most of his users like the character himself; all they want are the stats.

I'm willing to bet that people use Metal Mario because he has heavyweight stats, but a middleweight frame thus making him smaller and harder to get than regular heavyweights.
 
If you don't like the gyro controls and prefer the circle pad (like I do) you can always turn it off.

Isn't it fun to glide in first person mode?
 
I turned they gyro off because of my tendency to tilt the 3DS in a certain direction
 
Yeah, before I knew you could use gyro controls and used the circle pad for first-person, I always wondered why the kart was tilting to the left. Now I know why. There should be an option in the start menu to turn circle pad on/off and gyro on/off so it doesn't get too confusing.

I officially own Mario Kart 7 now, thanks to an early birthday present from my parents; a Nintendo 3DS.

So far, I've 3-star ranked all the 50cc GPs, and unlocked the following parts...

1: Paraglider
2: Peach Parasol
3: Wood
4: Mushroom
5: Egg 1

I'm actually happy to get the Paraglider first, since apart from the Super Glider, that's the glider that I'll tend to use the most.

Regarding my starting combos...

1: Yoshi + Standard + Roller + Super Glider
2: Koopa Troopa + Standard + Monster + Super Glider
3: Yoshi + Standard + Roller + Paraglider
4: Koopa Troopa + Standard + Monster + Paraglider
5: Yoshi + Bolt Buggy + Wood + Paraglider
6: Yoshi + Egg 1 + Roller + Paraglider

Next up is the 100cc, but I'll probably be doing some Super Mario 3D Land as well.
 
Unlocked Koopa Clown, Wario, Lakitu, and Honey Queen. Only Metal Mario left to unlock!
 
I'm 2 cups away from 3 starring all cups, is there a reward for that?

Race Combo: Metal Mario + Bumble V + Slim + Swooper

Time Trial Combo: Lakitu + B Dasher + Gold Tires + Swooper

And I did it without relying on any glitches too. No Maka Wuhu glitch for me; it probably exists on my game, but I refuse to use it.

I've mostly been using Yoshi, Koopa Troopa, and Rosalina, as of now. And by doing the 50cc and 100cc, that helped to give me more parts to use when I started doing the 150cc.

And yeah, I do have a lot of free time, now that I'm out of college.
 
It took me a couple of weeks t get 3 star on all cups. 150cc is the hardest to get the 3 star on due to 50% being skill and 50% being luck

The odd thing about 150cc though, is that Spiny Shells are often an uncommon sight, and unlike Mario Kart DS, the two rivals don't rubberband as hard. But one rival will often be near you, so that if a Spiny Shell does pop up, you can bait it into attacking the rival instead.

But like I said before, I started out easy before going for bigger game.
 
You pretty much can only be far behind due to an item for one lap. if you do for anymore you can kiss the 3 stars goodbye.

Which is pretty much why I mainly used Yoshi and Koopa Troopa (and even Rosalina for at least two GPs) to get the 3-star ranks; I may be using other characters for Mirror Mode though. At least in Koopa Troopa's case, you can use the Monster tires, and still have around average acceleration.
