Suggestions for Improvement

Well, I've overcome that now, because not only has Porple responded, but I talked to one of the mods that was irritable to me and they apologized.

You have to understand that they're people too, and that they can get stressed from time to time, so they may be stingy in some days.

From the rule 6 thread:
Please, don't be idiots. If you actually have something directed at one member that can still be enjoyable for the rest of the forum to see, ATTN away, but if all you want to do is say "Hi" use a PM and if all you want to do is spam go to 4chan or something.
I think the bolded section needs to be removed as i's targeting another forum.

Anyone agree.

Actually, Spamming on 4Chan is usually instant Ban, and every Ban on there is permanent.

It's just a flippin' joke

we must be 100% serious all the time no jokes ever

porple replace every smiley with this :| its a serious smiley all the other smilies are too silly

Well, it looks like Porple can't make a mod to opt yourself out of getting notified from a thread you posted in. I asked him, and he basically said that I would have to create the mod myself, as a mod like that doesn't exist, in which I replied that I have practically no modding skills at all.

Can we make a rule against link-shorteners (e.g. bit.ly etc)

There's no real good reason to use them and also potentially unsafe

how so? It can really save characters when you use them in your sig.

He means that you have no way of knowing what site you're going to, so you could be being linked to something bad/NSFW/etc.

There's no "vote," it's a suggestions thread

Well, true, but do people even post those links here?

I wouldn't have pointed it out if I didn't see any, would I

And I don't know why you're complaining about signature length when all you have are YouTube links that can be shortened by YouTube anyway

Okay then, link me to a post that has one of these URL-shorteners.

Here

Nabber edited his post and removed the shortener shortly after I brought this up

People you actually can find out what a ShortURL redirects to, and it's called "LongURL":
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/longurl/oldnehmjgfcannmkgkojafngdkhfkdpd?hl=en

I'm using it too, but it only doesn't work on less known Shorteners, like my very own CWGM.es.

Quick suggestion: Make the rules easier to find. Some of the newer users might randomly come here and not know where to look for the rules, so perhaps we should make it more obvious, like including a link to the rules on the top bar?

Also, I'd like for the rule on bumping topics to be more straightforward. It simply says to use your best judgement, and my best judgment is a terrible judgement. Perhaps there should be a time limit for bumping topics before it gets too old, and you need to make a new topic.

Also, maybe a link to the FAQ in the top bar? No one seems to be able to find it any other way.

I dunno, the people who ask the questions in the HelpDesk are asking it in the EXACT BOARD the FAQ is found in.

It doesn't help that the FAQ is STICKIED, BOLDED, and ALL CAPS.

In fact, GBATemp even added a red "Important" Sticker, and a yellow block on their "NOTHING PLAYS 3DS ROMS FAQ" Sticky, to inform people, that it's still impossible.
Apparently, thousands of people still tend to skip this fact.

Which further proves my point that adding the FAQ tab won't really help much at all when people just don't give a damn before they post or ask the help of others before reading the manual.

I think there should be a special stars-amount/color/title for those who are Autopatrolled on the wiki, because they do deserve some credit (only people who were promoted for good edits, not former administrators, who are labeled "Retired Wiki Staff".

I don't really see why we need a special rank for people who are autopatrolled. The ranks aren't for credit, they're for access to hidden boards and whatnot.
