I don't really see why we need a special rank for people who are autopatrolled. The ranks aren't for credit, they're for access to hidden boards and whatnot.

There are ranks for Wiki Patrollers, Sysops, and Bureaucracts, and Autopatrols are also considered part of staff.

If the wiki staff decided that autopatrols didn't need special coloring on the wiki (like the patrollers/sysops/crats got) then I don't see why we need to give them that on the boards.

autopatrols aren't really staff (or at least as staff-ish as the other ranks), they're just trusted users around the community. being autopatrolled changes just about nothing in terms of editing.

they aren't considered staff in anyway

Autopatrols are really just users who were formerly part of the staff and some trusted users. They're not staff, they're just some trusted users who help the staff. Though autopatrols are a step above regular users, it's just a TINY step. It's a bit like a glorified autoconfirmed status, except autopatrols only get their edits marked as patrolled. It's nothing major, really.

I don't use Tumblr or Twitter, so I wouldn't know. How does YouTube do it though?
YouTube's tag help you find what you're looking for easier. Same for Tumblr.

Say you were looking for a post with Idk, about Wiggler. If people tag anything they post with Wiggler, it would be easier to find posts about Wiggler, no?

that's what the search function is for.

"this isn't facebook, Holmes" "neither is it twitter or YouTube"

ok, by this logic, I'm assuming we don't want to be like any other site? So I'm guessing we should avoid looking like other forums? Perhaps we should avoid everything that has been used on any other site? Ooh! Ooh! Perhaps we should make the site imaginary? That would make us totally different from other sites!

Seriously guys, it was just a suggestion. Granted it wasn't a very good suggestion, but there's no need to start comparing us to other sites, just because they use them on that site.

I think they meant that this site's purpose isn't the same as Twitter's or YouTube's.

At least it's still better than some Wiki with a Forum and IRC Chat.

Yeah but UM wasn't saying he wanted it to have the same purpose, he was just suggesting that we add a feature that tags posts, which just happens to be a feature that's used on other sites.

I agree. That's always a bad argument. Sometimes, there is a reason that this thing might be popular on other sites.

I agree that there are some features that we shouldn't use (ie Like systems, and, as I mentioned before, I'm not really for the post tagging), but we could utilise some features that could make this site easier to use.

Can I make a suggestion that we make a Pokemon board.
