Uh, stock Scatter and Pistol beat soda popper and winger 6-0.

I do have a hat. Is the shortstop any good as I just need the metal for that? I refuse to use the baby face blaster as it kills the whole point of being a scout.

Shorstop has been nerfed, but it's atleast better than your other options. Competetive players use normal Scatter though.

Last night I switched my Sniper loadout to Sniper Rifle/Jarate/Bushwacka, since Stooben told me Jarate and Bushwacka combined deal lots of damage, since the Bushwacka deals crits when there would normally be mini-crits. I also might try out the Sandman for Scout today.

what

I mean sure you're really slow at first but it's really easy to get 99 damage with any of your weapons so that you can move waay faster than before

You can't jump. Your argument is invalid.

oh yeeah that

Well in the situations that I used the Baby Face's in I didn't really need to jump, and even if you do it's easy to get back to max speed as long as there's enemies around

Baby Face Blaster is actually really fun. You just need to run more often since you can't jump to dodge, and chances are youll have full boost so you'll be very good at running. Better yet, just go to a map where you barely ever need to jump, like 2fort or turbine or something. Then you can cap very quickly if you have an escort.

Do they :(. Its just kinda embarrasing to have all defaults.
Vanilla scout is pretty good. If you feel the need to show off, do it with your skill. Nobody's going to be impressed by your Shortstop anyway. It only takes until your first item drop to be able to have a shortstop, because you can trade any normal weapon for any other normal weapon. Which, by the way, is what you should have done instead of crafting. Crafting the shortstop takes a rec and a wep, trading for it only takes a wep.

I'm not going to tell you not to use the Shortstop, though. It's a perfectly acceptable alternative to the Scattergun if you're planning on using a beverage for your secondary. I'd stick with the Scattergun myself, especially after the Shortstop's completely unnecessary nerf back whenever, but that's just my preference.

If you really wan't to show off with your loadout, cheapest way to do it I think is to get a strange and grind it. Trading for a Strange Shortstop actually shouldn't be much more than you spent to craft a normal one. This is why you should always trade for stuff.

Thanks, after using the shortstop, its too simular to a pistol so I might stick with the ol' vanilla scattergun. Anyway, I have a hat so yeag, its not a particularly rare hat but it shows I play spiral knights.
