Well I am a doofus because 2257 just told me you can totally still access the unaltered panels by going to the URL and deleting the word "retcon".

Derp.

2257 is a great and smart man. I am what's left.

What about... flashes? :OOOOO

Yeah, I figured out the retcon address thing too, but I feel like the original flashes are probably gone. In "John: Bite Apple", at least it's pretty stealthy - if I wasn't specifically looking for it, I wouldn't've noticed it (but I did notice the arm in this one the second time I watched it - pretty sure that was a retcon too).

(Also, speaking of that page: "The streets are empty. Wind skims the voids keeping neighbors apart, as if grazing the hollow of a cut reed, or say, a plundered mailbox. A familiar note is produced. It's the one Desolation plays to keep its instrument in tune." - kinda wonder if this had any influence on Hussie making Roxy a Void player to go with John's wind: he has a knack for remembering and using offhand remarks, and in fact, the passage as a whole reminds me of the current situation in general at times.)

It's still kind of low-key-ish and manageable right now, but I don't like where this shit is going. At all.
I hope it doesn't get worse. I'd also be happy if everything gets un-retconned, but I don't realistically see that happening (unless, maybe, if you get the book versions? I'm curious what'll happen with those, since some are already released and won't have the oil - will subsequently released ones have oil and you just have to deal with the inconsistency? Or will there be second editions with the oil? Same with the arms - like, are they even in the earlier books or did that happen after publication too?).

now that you've seen that i'm going to delete RETCON my post so marowak doesn't see it and decide it's ok to subject me to the ocean of verbal diarrhea that constitutes his thoughts on homestuck ;)))

I wonder if Kurloz's planet (because that's totes where they are) is "Land of Rides and Amusement", like how Gamzee's is "Land of Tents and Mirth".

It could also be the "Dark Carnival" they built on Earth. IIRC they put up some tents behind the white house or something, this could be an extension of it.

IDK who could be the supplier of the memory though. Maybe a doomed Jane or Jake who didn't make it into the Medium.

Perhaps. Until they found the parlour I wasn't ready to make a call either way, but then I just figured tattoos = Kurloz.

The first character I think of when I hear tattoos is Porrim. The whole amusement park angle doesn't seem to fit her though. Or maybe it does, by virtue of her not liking being forced into predefined roles, and thus having a land you wouldn't expect her to have would make sense. Or maybe she just likes having fun.

Or maybe... none of this makes sense.

Hmmm, true. Meenah also said it could be a mix of memories, so maybe the parlour was Porrim's memory and the rest came from others.

VRISKA: Who experienced this? Some alt-alt-alt version of Karkat's lame ancestor?
VRISKA: A chess creature from a distant unrel8ted session, after its post-reckoning getaway, who then repopul8ted a dead planet, and started 8uilding amusement parks??
you know reading these sentences made me realize how weird and convoluted this comic is

VRISKA: I think I h8 horses, actually.
vriska confirmed for worst troll

also can someone refresh my memory because didn't john and dead vriska do a dating thing or something at some point?

i can't remember anything that happened in act 6

Vriska and the doomed John that died in the timeline Davesprite is from used to date for a while, but then Lord English blew up the dream bubble that John was in, erasing John's ghost from existence. That sort of put a damper on their relationship.

Alpha John and Vriska never dated though.

I thought Vriska and dead John broke up before he got killed.

I feel like neither of those are actually possible, tho. Unless she just means a different Kankri in the same way we're talking about dead John vs. the alpha timeline John. Also, the only chessguy dream we saw seemed more like a normal dream (until Vriska herself showed up, but she's always hijacking the narrative), and like how there's no guardians running around (except memories of the lusii), I feel like chessguys can't make dream bubbles or exists as ghosts the same way the actual players can. Although it does raise the question of what happens to the Incipisphere and its population when a game's actually won...

whatever it is i think it ties in to how the incipisphere starts existing when a sburb game is initialized, and how it simultaneously just popped into existence and always existed (as dreaming on prospit and derse pre game show) at the same time

In the first panel that showed Terezi had written on her scarf, I thought it was written in Alternian and I was expecting John to point out he didn't understand any of it.

So, the line about making your own luck kind of implies she's going to have him mess with the moment she killed Vriska. Maybe she will never have died, which will have interesting implications, because back then I made a bet with Marowak that Hussie will not kill off Vriska, which I lost. If John retcons that moment and she lives, it means I will never have lost the bet.

Depending on how far he goes back, we might also see a bunch of events from the Alternian session which were glossed over. And maybe something outrageous will happen, like everyone ascends to the god tiers and there's a huge god pajama party.

Also, 2257 told me this earlier and I agree: Terezi knows how to die in style.

I thought the luck stuff was intriguing (her thumbs-up also reminded me of flipping her coin - maybe it was a recycled image?), but she said John would be changing little things, and not killing Vriska seems like a big change. Although I feel like he's definitely gonna intervene with her downward spiral that largely resulted from guilt over killing Vriska - hopefully including her not agreeing to be unblinded.

Or it'll turn out to be the closed loop time travel all along as things are retconned to be John's doing in ways that don't rewrite the history we know, just adds to it behind-the-scenes or adds new things that always happened but which we never saw at all, and then only GAME OVER is averted since that's what would have happened if things had been different all along than what we saw. I could swallow that better than wanton changes to everything, although I'm still dismayed that even that's looking like it's getting solved via retcon rather than some more clever means...

I wonder if the other John's LOWAS is gonna get blown up when he gets there like in the other Jade's timeline, and the alpha John will see it before he poofs away and be like "whoa, so that's what Typheus meant". So it's like, since Paradox Space isn't dooming the reject timelines like it would under normal time-travel circumstances, Typheus is taking care of the extra Johns himself.

Maybe it is, and the Gift of Gab lets you circumvent language barriers.
