So, after my classes spam from earlier, I got to thinking about the elements and I came up with a few alternate meanings for elements (i.e. heart = soul)
Time - Timelines, time travel, copies
Breath - Air (the substance), wind (moving air), flight
Doom - Death (in the future), destruction, fate
Blood - Blood, influence (i.e. Karkat and the Sufferer were both very influential figures), ancestry, identity, death (in the present)
Heart - Love, soul (emotions and feelings), will, inner thoughts
Space - Dimensions, proportions, movement, outer space
Mind - Thought, intelligence
Light - Luck, future, x-ray vision, brightness
Void - Nothing, invisibility, hidden
Rage - Anger, powers, destruction
Hope - Motivation, aspirations, ambition
Life - Injuries, soul (the life itself of a human), nature, enjoyment
Note: Everything in brackets (except for the i.e. under "Blood") describes the term in question, as opposed to another similar or identical term used elsewhere in the list.
So yeah, combining these aspects with the abilities of the classes will have to make sense at least one way :P

As for legitimate reasons, that is not a subject that Andrew has touched on...at all really, so it's really touchy and speculative. That is definitely a genuine possibility, it definitely makes sense, but there's no proof about it.

Using math, it took him two hours to read Act 1, two hours to read Act 2, three hours to read Act 3 and four hours to read Act 4.
Firstly, it is quite obvious that he did not do anything else that day. Secondly, are these times possible?
I remember that I would start reading sometime late in the night, maybe 11:00-12:00 and then finish way too early in the morning. So I think this may be a bit too fast.
Also, if he devours it that quickly, he's going to be in for a ton of pain when he catches up :P

Hm, I was thinking more about Witch-Sylph and I wonder - maybe Sylph is active and Witch is passive?
It just seems like being the embodiment of an element, a Sylph would be more direct than a Witch, who simply manipulates stuff and indirectly influences.
However if that were the case, Mage and Seer would have to switch around as well to keep it balanced. Which could work, a Seer clearly seeing the necessary course of immediate action (i.e. Rose telling them their immediate future with the comet) and a Mage seeing hints towards the distant future.
So I think those could be switched around.
