Mario Tennis Open

Who was Yoshi paired with in Mario Tennis 64 anyway? Baby Mario or Birdo?

Umm, I think it's safe to say Birdo. Also, who is Toad paired with? Peach? But Peach is with Daisy.

Toad is obviously paired with Baby Mario.

Both are screaming midgets (but only one of them is a psycho screamer)

As good as it is to see Dry Bowser again, there's more than enough Power-type participants, so this is pretty much overkill.

Dry Bowser can be Defensive, though.

I can't really picture that being the case.

The teams in Mario Tennis 64 were these:

Mario - Luigi
Luigi - Daisy
Peach - Mario
Baby Mario - Donkey Kong
Yoshi - Baby Mario
Donkey Kong - Toad
Paratroopa - Bowser
Donkey Kong Jr. - Donkey Kong
Wario - Waluigi
Waluigi - Paratroopa
Daisy - Birdo
Toad - Peach
Birdo - Yoshi
Bowser - Boo
Boo - Wario
Shy Guy - Bowser

So, Yoshi has been paired with a Baby before, and yes, two characters had Donkey Kong and Bowser as their default teams, and two characters were no one's default team.

Those past Tennis games neither had default duo teams, it's still somewhat reluctant to explain all playable characters as partners.
I think it's better to have all duo computer opponents chosen randomly. Default teams would be tedious.

Athlete were not used as computer opponents in 64, or we might see some other weird teams.

I forgot the part where characters needed to have partners, can't they all be separate. It's not like this is Double Dash.

Well, Mario Tennis did have default duo teams...

You're forgetting about doubles tournaments

In Power Tennis, was their automatic pairs?

Nope. You could choose in Power Tennis.

If they do what they did in N64 then people will complain about not being able to choose their secondary. If they do choice, then people will complain that characters don't have partners. It will never end.

So my point is still valid. They really don't have to be partnered up specifically. They just need to be characters that people know.

There*

It depended on the game mode you played. In Exhibition, you could choose your partner. In Tournament, you had to play with your default team.

In Power Tennis, though, you can choose your teammate even in tournaments.

However, you're forgetting that the CPU's have a set doubles partner in tournaments

Final unlockable character revealed: LUBBA!!

Hahahahah just kidding guys ;) Just wanted to have some fun while we wait for some news.

Lubba would be a better choice than Baby Peach IMO

Personally, I like both. I have no problem with either of them. I just want Rosalina to join the roster, and that's it. I know it's not very likely, but still :(

Baby Peach is fine TBH, but I would like on her on bigger rosters and after Baby Mario/Baby Luigi is revealed

Please nintendo. Don't forget about Petey Piranha.

Unfortunately, Petey's chance is pretty slim

Frankly, Petey's big head is pretty much why his playable appearances have dwindled lately. Anyway, the Kremling Krew should make a comeback, just so that old K. Rool can get into the action.

Darn it. They let Luma in and not Petey? BS!

Please, NO. The WarioWare and Donkey Kong series should not get mixed with the Mario series. I hated when King K. Rool and Kritter along with all the Kongs appeared in Mario Super Sluggers. Dixie was fine in Superstar Baseball, but Funky in Mario Kart Wii was too much.

I don't agree with Luma > Petey, but that's just an opinion.

But I do agree that WarioWare and Donkey Kong series characters should stay out. DK and Diddy seem to have wriggled their way in but the rest should stay in their own games. If they really wanted them to appear again then they should've put them in Donkey Kong Country Returns somewhere.

Lubba? He's actually one of my favourite characters, even though he's really fat.

I don't know if your being an idiot on purpose or serious.

But the post about Lubba was a joke.
