Yeah that. If we get another Mario Baseball (I hope) they would be perfect because with them, Bowser, and Bowser Jr. you get the 9 players needed.

Why would they make a default character's default partner unlockable?

It's most likely that it will be Yoshi & Boo and Baby Peach & Luma.

Well, they can have an extra partner to make up for the odd number, like Koopa or something.

Despite that we haven't played babies few years, in total appearances Baby Mario had been in the two early Camelot works. It can be other babies' turn if only one place available this time.

I'm guessing they wanted variety, since Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are just palette swaps of each other.

Uh, no. Fun fact: there isn't a single game where all of Baby Luigi's sprites/model were a mere palette swap of Baby Mario. Sure, he might have a similar model and build, but he is not a palette swap of Baby Mario. While Luigi in his early titles WAS a palette swap of Mario.

Why do people always confuse "palette swap" with "looking similar"?


For the news bit, I'm skeptical. They announce Baby Mario, but say nothing about Baby Peach? It could be a typo.
