Crystallized feelings of gratitude. It's a sidequest that unlocks right before Lanayru Desert; speak to Kukiel's mom to activate the series of NPC conversations, then follow the quest until you unlock the gratitude crystal quest.
I didn't know where to find Kukiel.
Check over by the graveyard; that's where she was seen last. The person you speak to in order to advance those sidequests will have three periods above their heads. I can tell you the exact location and person to talk to in pm if you really need it, but it was kinda obvious who to talk to just walking over there in that direction...

I talked to Kukiel's mom and was kind of too lazy to figure out where she is and left for the desert.

So did I, but the sidequest does give good rewards, even if they are somewhat tedious to go and find; you really should go and activate it if you want to not get your butt handed to you by later temples' bosses.

Is the Lanayru Mining Facility the longest dungeon in the game it seemed to go on for ever.

Yes, it is one of the longest dungeons and one of the more laborious in the game (and in 3D Zeldas in general).

After a few errands that were inconsequential, I went down to the Eldin Volcano Silent Realm. My first run was somewhat easygoing aside from a scrape with the Waking Water on the slide and the guardian at the bottom. Unfortunately for me, I milled around somewhat aimlessly toward the south end and got barely caught by one of the tall guardians while on the rope (grr stupid rope). My second attempt was successful. The hill with all the watchers near the entrance to the Earth Temple went disastrously; got caught on the way down for that dead-end tear and literally ran just beneath the guardian's sword, ending the crisis. Also, I got lost again near the south. Entrance to the Fire Sanctuary was interesting, although that Gossip Stone outside all but revealed the Dungeon Item, so that's about settled now. Got the basin with Scrapper, all I have to do is land at the entrance and it's another new Temple. Wondering what they could have in store for after the three Flames, but that's another day. Anyone know where to find Bird Feathers or Hornet Larvae?

Bird Feathers: Catch a bird in your bug net. I see a lot of birds near the Sealed Grounds where that Goron guy is.

Hornet Larvae: In the area right before the Skyview Temple. I think you need to knock over a hornet nest or something.

Also:
I hate how you need to guide Scrapper to the top of that mountain. It's no fun leading a bratty robot up a mountain and having to kill every enemy in its path (especially when it yells at you every time an enemy is near). I was almost to the top when he got attacked, and I had to climb the whole mountain all over again (of course, then I didn't know you could save at the statues to restart higher up the mountain).

OK thanks, I've been putting off upgrading certain items for a while now, but I really do need to finish this upgrade thing before it gets too far ahead.

Yeah, that's going to be painful... The reason why I want to grab the Sacred Bow upgrade and a shield upgrade beforehand... I think Scrapper would be a better character if he was slightly more developed and less like a mouthy moving van or something... I really thought we'd be getting a little more with him than just "here I am you idiot, *sucks up to Fi*" overall. I'll definitely be availing myself of the Bird Statues along the way... Funny thing is, if I'd had to do that before the Silent Realm, I'd have got lost, but the Silent Realm levels really increase the level of familiarity I have with these sections.

So I finished this game :D!

And I hated it :D!!

@2257: So now you can stop worrying about spoilers every second....

Aside from that one moment, everything he does is just epic.

And he's a much better first boss than Diababa or Queen Gohma...

Did you really not like it.

No man. I loved it. I express my love of things by saying that I hate them.

Duh.

@Lord Ghirahim: I shouldn't have been worried anyway. The game isn't nearly worth expending the effort of trying to pound the fact that they annoy me into BMB's skull.

Btw I don't like you. It was around the time you told me that you were going to make my ears bleed with the sound of my own agonized screams that I decided you were the cheesiest Zelda villain of all time.

I like Diababa and wait you are Lord Ghirahim.

I guess he's a polarizing character then, because I was refreshed by several aspects of his personality. And btw, I'm not obsessed with the game to the point where I take every criticism of the character I changed my name to as a personal affront.

Let's put it this way: Diababa itself has never damaged me. I accidentally ran into its polluted water once for a quarter heart's damage. I was not in any way impressed. Also, I decided I liked the character before I changed my name, not after.

You found several aspects of his personality refreshing.

Which aspects? His melodramatic overacting? His ranting about how many ways he's going to hurt Link? His emo clown outfit?

...maybe you liked the way he rubbed himself all over Link, as if he was imagining the two of them fucking instead of fighting?

Now don't get me wrong. He's not the worst Zelda villain ever. "Cheesy" is worlds better than... whatever Zant was.

The Silent Realm is very fun. I beat the Faron Woods Trail on my first try.

Started the Skyview Temple. Any pointers? The Skulltulas are harder than in OoT3D
Tell me about it. My fighting skills against them are very weak, according to Fi. I think I need to stab in the right place, but I can't stab that well.

Also, I finally got my Bomb Bag. Thank God. I hate Bomb Flowers with the intensity of 1,000 burning suns. I hope I complete the Earth Temple today. I haven't had the chance to the past two days.

I enjoy his side of personality that seems to be in control and calm and calculating most of the time. The cutscene in the Skyview Temple was unpleasant, I do admit that, but the rest of the time he seems to be a good villain and much different. And Zant wasn't as much of an abomination until a certain cutscene in the Palace of Twilight. In fact, aside from his actual boss fight, Zant actually succeeded somewhat as a villain. Of course, his boss fight pretty much ruined the game, but I think my point still does stand somewhat.

All this to say, I don't think he's a horrible villain, but I may very well wind up hating his guts when I'm finished, so I won't say this is my final word yet.
