Actually, I believe in the time travel conjecture that if time travel is possible, then we are already experiencing the repercussions of it. Therefore you cannot change anything in the past that will interrupt the present, you can only change what will happen in the future. Obviously you can't kill someone's parents because you will either
a. kill them, but their parents were actually someone else or
b. fail to kill them because of some occurance.
If they were dead and the person you wanted to kill non-existant, then you never would have traveled back in time in the first place.
