Really? Could I see a picture of both cards?

Did that guy even have proof that he has "psychic abilities"?
The guy didn't even win the court.

I wonder why nintendo isn't making kadabra cards

Maybe out of kindness.

Okay, so in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, you help Wally catch a Ralts, but it only knows Growl. When you meet Wally in Mauville City, Ralts has grown to level 16. How did Wally level up Ralts if it had no offensive moves and no other Pokemon yet to use the switching out strategy?

NO NO NO NO guys! You got it all wrong, first of all nobody won. The lawsuit was made in 2000 but the case has yet to be announced so for now Nintendo stopped printing Kadabra cards and like some of you users say removed him from the show. Uri Geller does kinda looks like Kadabra at an angle. His specialty as a magician is spoon bending, he made the spoon bending trick popular in pop culture.

What really got him offended is the fact that he is Jewish and descendant of holocaust survivors and Kadabra have the SS symbol on its belly. Also Kadabra's Japanese name is straight out Uri Geller, they didn't even bother to ask him for the use of his name.

oh please not this again

did you know that the swastika used to be a buddhist (or was it hindu? idk) symbol for peace? yeah.

Just because the Nazis corrupted certain symbols doesn't mean we can't use them. Or rather, we shouldn't. I mean, I can see avoiding the swastika but three waves?

What the hell are you talking about?

Not the Nazi swastika, the SS found on the Waffen-SS (the guys who were physically responsible for the extermination of the Jews on the streets and in the concentration camps).

Blue Paratroopa said:
To be fair, they didn't really base Kadabra's English name on him
Why should that even matter? Just because he may not speak Japanese it's okay to use his name without consent?

That shouldn't matter at all for two reasons, one: they are still using his name without authorization (how will you feel if someone associated your name, without your consent, on something that is terrible to you or the public like mass murders). And second: okay let's take on your claim/perspective, Uri Geller will be offended more because Nintendo is basically thinking that Geller is too stupid to find out that the Japanese name is his name. And that basically stems back to de facto that Uri Geller never made authorization.

Dr. Javelin meant that a drawing of lines doesn't automatically mean it's associated with the Nazis

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm trying to say.
Javelin, you can drop the act. I am aware that you misread the post and surmise I was alluding to the swastika, and not the Waffen-SS symbol. If not, then fair, consign to oblivion.

There's a big difference between:

^ This is a symbol that strikes fear into the Jews during the Holocaust as they watch friends, families, men, women, children, and babies being slaughter on the streets in broad daylight by officials wearing this symbol, and this is also present on Kadabra's belly:

And don't altercate on that Kadabra's have three S's and the Waffen is two, that doesn't really matter because it is still the same symbol and meaning. And for consolation I looked up the meaning of the SS rune and it's definition is victory, rather broad, and not murder, but don't quibble on that also because it doesn't matter if it was corrupted by a group, the fact of the matter is that wounds take time to heal. It's like if we started cracking 9/11 jokes right after it happened.

No, I didn't misread it at all. Kadabra has three waves on his belly, just like the ESP card. If the Nazis had used one wave instead of two, would that make Kadabra triply evil? What makes you assume I misread your post? I was using the swastika as an example.

That's out point exactly: there's a big difference between them. And Kadabra clearly has three waves, not two - meaning it's just a smaller ESP symbol.

Would you rather there be a super tall Kadabra with a huge belly just so it will be long as well?
And don't altercate on that Kadabra's have three S's and the Waffen is two, that doesn't really matter because it is still the same symbol and meaning.
Uh no. I'm pretty sure it does matter.

One wave is a lightning bolt. Two is SS. Three is ESP.

Pretty good distinction there.

What? When did I ever say that Kadabra is evil. Oh and you did a swell job telling us that you were using the swastika as an example.

But like I said, consign to oblivion.

Okay now you're just blowing this out of proportion, you are getting off-topic. :posh: I do notice that you are veering and avoiding off some facets of my claim which says something about your pride, which suggest that you do agree with some parts of my claim. Unless you failed basic elementary art class, than you know there is a big difference between wavy and jagged lines so I'm not sure how you don't see the difference between the two images. I call for logical fallacy.

Circular reasoning. ^ Read above detail.

The point I am making is that Uri Geller is not a jerk or greedy and sued Nintendo because of looks and abilities of a fictional creature, it's about the offensive meaning behind it and most importantly the use of his name without his authorization.

Yep throwing around random terms and hoping we don't know what they mean

There is no circular reasoning in his post.

1. Avoiding the point
2. As if you weren't being off-topic -_-
3. He answered everything you said that elicited a response.
4. Unless you failed basics of math, then you should know that two does not equal three.

Why don't you get that there's a difference between the wavy lines of the Zener card and the straight lightning-bolt like shape of the Waffen-SS? But now that I think about it, since Kadabra does have three of the SS symbols I hypothesis that Nintendo's art team may have screwed up on that and meant to put the Zener psychic symbol not the Waffen-SS symbol, but that doesn't answer why they left it like that because surely somebody noticed that. Argue all you want, but it is still the Waffen-SS symbol with just three instead of two which got Uri Geller infuriated about and sure Nintendo for that and the fact that his name was used without consent. Now that settles it.

notice how i did indeed mention the three waves to be something that shouldn't be avoided

yeah you know what i already gave my stance that it's clearly not supposed to be the ss symbol and you didn't really listen to that so

i'm done here if only because i have doubts about convincing you that you're wrong about this.
