New Super Mario Bros. 2

Smash Bros., maybe?

Why couldn't they have the final boss be an actual fight for once?

I agree. It needs to be like the Kirby games. I love destroying Magolor and Yin Yarn using some Uber ability, not some sort of stupid chase scene ala Super Mario 3D Land.

WORST REWARD EVER. It is just a changed title screen. SMW's reward was better for getting all 96 exits.

EDIT: Spoiler

Yes, having a Gold Mario statue and a mountain coins is way worse than changing everything green to orange.

Mmyup.

Did you even play Super Mario World? It's not only the scenery that changes, it's the enemies that change too. Besides, it's a much older game than New Super Mario Bros. 2. Much more primitive. I wouldn't be comparing this game to a much more modern game

Additionally, finding 96 exits is a way smaller feat that collecting 1,000,000 coins. In my opinion, at least.

Not really; SMW's later levels, especially the Special World and some of the exits, are tough as nails, while based on level footage it basically seems that you can hit 1 million coins after a few solid hours of playing.

Collecting coins also sounds something tedious to do, unlike trying to accept challenges in levels such as Tubular

Well, you have to find all Dragon Coins in the GBA version to get the design changes, so technically, you have to find all 96 exits

But you see, collecting 9999 star bits is not the intended goal of Super Mario Galaxy. It's just some sort of easter egg. While in New Super Mario Bros. 2, the point of the game is collecting one million coins and therefore, you should get a better reward than a stupid title screen

It would be pretty interesting if after getting a million coins, Wario and Waluigi steal the cash, and then the real final battle is to get the coins back from them.

Because in a game where the goal is to get money, I think the final boss should have at least something to do with getting money.

Exactly my thoughts on this. It's not clear what Nintendo was thinking when they made this game and excluded Wario, the master of money and gold, from this.

Maybe they think "It would be too much like Super Mario Land 2!"

Says the company with the four (well, this is the third) New Super Mario Bros. games.

And Super Mario Land 2 is a pretty obscure game, so they really don't have any excuse.

One character would make it too much like Super Mario Land 2? I doubt they thought that. I think they just deliberately shove Wario aside and pretend he doesn't exist.

Wario has his own series now, but then again that didn't stop Yoshi from being shoehorned into every new Mario game. (well, he's in NSMBU, not this one.)

At this point, Nintendo is just rehashing what's popular. Super Mario Bros. 3 proved to be popular, so they're just recycling elements from that game now. It seems somewhat forced to me.

I'm pretty sick and tired of seeing Super Mario Bros. 3 elements, actually. Sick of the Tanooki/Racoons madness, sick of the Koopalings (already), you get it. There's like, virtually no completely new power-up in this game and I'm a fan of unique and original power-ups.

You do know that the coin thing has been hyped up as the goal of the game, but it's not the main goal. The main goal is the same as all the other platformers. Save peach and complete all the levels. The million coins thing just happens along the way.

Actually, it is the main goal. It said so in the wiki and it has been up there for quite some time.

The save the princess thing is the event that happens along the way. The game's intro even portrays it that way.

I like the 3D platformers better because they usually have original powerups and bosses.

And the Koopalings . . . fans screamed "We want the Koopalings!" and now they're everywhere.

It's like if in the next Pokemon game Kris was the rival/professor/champion/all three for absolutely no reason other than the fans demanded it.

Instead of Waluigi and Wario being the final boss after getting 1 mil coins like some people suggested, I think having them playable would be a much better reward.

Oh well, there's always DLC.

nintendo doing DLC now, now that can be a very good or extremely bad thing depending how theyll handle that....

Well, there are new songs getting released for Rhythmtheather (or something like that) every week, for just € 1,- each.
It seems to work decently.

It's better as them for a final boss than a stupid title screen though. It's just the least that people are asking for.

Nintendo is still in the Stone Ages when it comes to online gaming, plus they hate Waluigi and Wario (restricted them only in Mario Kart while other companies are free to put them in their games) so don't expect them any time soon. But, I would be pleasantly surprised to see them if they were playable and I would probably get this game if that happened.

And Pokémon, MKW, etc.
But indeed, compared to what a PlayStation or XBOX can do, Nintendo Consoles are still weak, in terms of Online Gaming.
