Pikmin 3

Yes.

BMB why you so casual. :D

I loved Pikmin 1, and I prefer it over Pikmin 2. Pikmin 2 was just too laid-back, and I didn't really like the caves that much.

I'm not casual; I finished Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 both under 30 days (Pikmin 1 I have gotten it done by Day 21 before and Pikmin 2 I got to Day 29, and I've only played through it once).

I just like the fact that I'm not trying to have some sort of limit on what I'm allowed to look at with the scenery, explore the places willy-nilly and just take my time to figure puzzles out, and really enjoy the looks of the game and all the new features in it. I didn't like how Pikmin 1 was basically just get stuff done, barely have time to grow Pikmin and use whatever available Pikmin you have to destroy these mighty enemies that some take an entire day to just beat, and yeah, I'm sure that a lot of players couldn't even do Pikmin 1 because of the time limit. I know that the first two times when I was a 6-year old I couldn't figure out how to do some stuff. Then I finally got to all pieces but 1 on Day 30, and launched without that piece, figured out how to do that entire last area in one day (somehow; don't ask me how because now I can only do it in two day spans), and finally figured it out. And then I started to play through them again, beat my previous records and continue to see how fast I can complete the game.

But yeah, I really enjoyed Pikmin 2 a lot since it was nice to actually just see the areas, have the freedom to waste a day making your Pikmin army stronger and stuff, and not having to worry about collecting things. The only thing that annoyed me in Pikmin 2 is that I wasn't a big fan of the caves. I think they were an awesome addition, but some of those caves that were like 10 levels deep and stuff really annoyed me because it made me become really careful with my Pikmin, and I felt like every lost Pikmin could spell doom for me and stuff. I remember one cave I played in had open areas, and I'm trying to battle the friggin flying bug that drop bombs and next thing I know I lost 5 Pikmin because I threw them over the ledge! That friggin annoyed me about how some areas allowed you to have pikmin fall over the edge and stuff, and some caves I had to do twice just so that I could get certain treasures because I didn't have enough Pikmin of a certain color to get it, and the room layout was terrible at times.

What I'm really looking forward in Pikmin 3 though is that there seems to be a lot of potential to really make this game very interesting, allowing you to solve puzzles never before, like building bridges, using your yellow guys in a circuit, throwing your captains, having lilypads to take you over water, etc etc...it really makes the game feel like there is a lot in store for it, and I feel like the areas are going to be so huge!

I really do like how they have the orb onion thingies instead of the three onion stuff. Now you can just get all your Pikmin in the same area, instead of having to pull them out from each onion, though I'm not sure how they'll take the spoils if it'll just be the pill color or if it will be the majority of the pikmin holding it and then making new pikmin based off of that. Eh, I'm probably overthinking it.

One thing I really like is that swarm ability where you can just send all your Pikmin at an enemy all at once. It'll make some enemies like the burrowing snarget so much easier to face, as we saw in the trailer where the winged Pikmin just nailed it at the same time, though I did notice that now it drills upwards when it pops out of the ground...

I wonder if we will see the return of caves....?

I honestly hope not, some of the caves from Pikmin 2 were just insane.

Subterranean Complex and Hero's cavern are just some that come to mind.

I wouldn't mind short caves, and the abilities to take breaks and return to the last floor you left off at. I'm still amazed that I lasted in some of the caves.

I actually liked caves since you weren't timed in there (unless you count Submerged Castle to a certain extent...). Speaking of that dungeon, that place is just pure evil. Oh and it further demonstrates how broken Purples are when you get to the last floor lol

However, I would rather they focus more on the overworld. The overworld felt rather bland in Pikmin 2. I'd rather they have a good balance between the 2.

And can the Pikmin tripping PLEASE be removed as well as the Pikmin randomly lunging? It kind of annoys me when I want to divide my Pikmin in groups but a Pikmin trip/lunges and it still counts as me having 1. :p

Apparently Purple and White Pikmin don't appear in the story mode. This makes me sad because that means I can't kill everything in the game in under 10 seconds.

Yeah, it's basically states on the Japan website that White and Purple Pikmin will be in challenge mode and multi-player mode, but not story mode.

I doesn't bother me. Purple Pikmin are broken anyway.

Although I've never played either Pikmin (I own the first one), the Rock Pikmin look kind of similar to Purple considering they're both heavy, so I'm guessing Rock will also be a bit broken. Especially since they only get buried by rocks, so you can just pluck them again. And besides, would you rather have a fat flower thrown at you, or a rock?

Yeah maybe. But Rock Pikmin also don't carry the weight of 10 Pikmin like Purple do.

You also need to note that rock Pikmin cannot latch onto enemies like other Pikmin can. That makes their rate of attack much slower since they have to bounce at the enemy, or wait for the captain to rethrow them if they are aerial Pikmin.

Winged Pikmin are definitely going to be a bit like that too as they can hover over lots of obstacles, but they have their disadvantages too that make them more balanced. I mean, they cannot carry objects with the other Pikmin due to the flight vs. ground situation.

They may be broken, but when you have rooms like Floor 9 of Hole of Heroes (the one with all the Grub-dogs), and rooms with a million enemies that can kill your Pikmin in seconds, I don't care if they're broken or not, I'm using them. Purples also made the Emperor Bulblax and Pileated Snagret much easier since both of them have a crazy amount of HP. And besides, Purples were useless during the final boss fight with the Titan Dweevil anyways.

I'm just glad that it looks like the Winged Pikmin have a significant advantage over the Snagret since swarming them against one automatically makes them go for the head.

From what I've seen, all Pikmin types go up the Burrowing Snarget.

I've spoiled myself a bit, but I really like how big the map is. No joke; definitely the biggest Overworld by far.

Just realized they remixed the boss music from Pikmin 2 and orchestrated it this time. That was my favorite them from the game and it makes me even happier that not only has it returned, but it's an orchestral version. August 4th can't come soon enough.

I agree.

Over at Japan, Pikmin 3 is the number one selling game on the Market, and has boosted the Wii U sales by A LOT.

Hmmm...crappy 3rd party games and little 1st party support and the Wii U sales are awful...

Then strong 1st party game comes out and the Wii U starts to bring business back to the system...

It really shows that it's very tough to try to downgrade Nintendo when they know how to bring themselves back. Maybe if 3rd party companies didn't give scraps to Nintendo, Nintendo could actually boost the third parties' sales for their own games.

When Nintendo makes a comeback, they make a comeback.

Apparently Pikmin 3 got an 8.8 on IGN. That typically means that the game is really good. Every critic tends to be strict when it comes to nintendo games so I don't go by what they say.

well the pikmin games are few for a nintendo series, so im not really surprised it was good. It seems like the lesser titles of nintendo seem to fair pretty well.

I mean pikmin 1 got my attention for like almost 2 hours straight, which is pretty miraculous for an rts game, so i can only imagine what upgrades would be good.

The fist time I played Pikmin 1, I thought to myself, " wait, nintendo made an rts game?" Thats when I realized that I like real time strategy games. Nintendo kindof got me started on them. Pikmin is a perfect balance between strategy and simplicity. Most other rts games tend to get a little too complicated such as Command and Conquer.
