A great new look at Godzilla.

And some sad news.

Damn. I was really looking forward to his cameo.

When I was a kid, I honestly thought Godzilla was God's full name: I clearly remember theatrically falling to my knees one day with my hands clasped in prayer and crying to the heavens "Have mercy on me, Godzilla!" and my friend's parents were like "...huh?"

Needless to say, when I found out that God was actually a bearded old dude in the clouds, and not a giant monster who smites people by stomping on them, I was a bit disappointed.

ah HA

Now, I have visual evidence that the real US military would be able to take down Godzilla.
Go to 1:01, and you can clearly see Godzilla reeling after a couple of missiles. Summon the kind of firepower I was talking about earlier, that the US is capable of, and he's toast.

Take that, GP!

...that being said though, I'm used to unrealistic portrayals of the military, so I don't think it will detract from the film. I mean, if you're watching a movie about a a giant lizard monster your suspension of disbelief is already running pretty strong, so don't let something like the unrealistic military response bother you.

Taking that scene without context much? He could've been caught off guard. Still, in that clip, you can see Godzilla's expression turn to anger. He's clearly pissed off. It's like if I punched you. It wouldn't really damage you, but you'd still reel back a little bit and feel it. Besides, we have evidence that this Godzilla has tanked nukes.

Sure, but what I was talking about would in your example be equivalent to a hundred people punching you. At the same time. Over and over. From miles away.

No evidence that those were direct hits, though. It's possible they missed, because he seems to have been underwater while they were launching those attacks.

Except that if you actually watched the trailers yup would see that it detonates right in front of him. They also say nuclear tests, as in multiple.

Patriotic shit like this is why I have trouble taking you seriously sometimes.

that's not patriotic at all! if godzilla took that much damage (or at least impact damage) from just two or three missiles, imagine what the entire massed us air force could do! i already showed you just how staggeringly large the air force is, and you could add to that the navy's supply of fighters and then launch one massive assault from miles away with ~2,000 missiles, which would do 600x the damage we saw in that clip and would at the very least severely wound godzilla

Except regeneration nullifies the damage pretty quickly. Plus, what's the military gonna do when Godzilla spits a stream of pure radioactive energy at them?

what if every country in the world nuked Godzilla

would he still be alive then

what if they used non-nuclear missiles

that'd still kill him without fucking everything up, right?

Regeneration doesn't nullify burst damage. If they all fired at once, which would be (somewhat) difficult to organize but doable, then Godzilla would take massive damage from 1,000 missile volley one... then volley two... then possibly a third volley of missiles, all of which are going to hit because how can you miss a giant lizard with a computer-guided missile.

And sure he can spit a stream of pure radioactive at one target. Which doesn't do much against 1,000+ warplanes firing from all directions from >1 mile away.

We get it. You like Godzilla. But you're seriously understating the power this many missiles would have on him. The biggest military task force I've seen in a movie, from Independence Day, would probably do pretty good damage to him, and that was only a few dozen fighters.

That's what I've been trying to explain to GP, but he's too biased. Somewhere inside he's probably thinking "no lol godzilla beats everything everytime".

I'm not being biased. I'm using clear and present facts from the movies. In all the Godzilla movies, missiles do not harm him. They may annoy him, but he dispatches them easily. Also, do we even see Godzilla being damages by the missiles, they're pushing him back, but there doesn't appear to be any physical damage. It's the equivalent of something pushing against you. It will push you back bug will not hurt you.

Godzilla's atomic ray has blown up a moving asteroid before. I'm sure the military would be no problem.
