I'm not being biased. I'm using clear and present facts from the movies. In all the Godzilla movies, missiles do not harm him. They may annoy him, but he dispatches them easily. Also, do we even see Godzilla being damages by the missiles, they're pushing him back, but there doesn't appear to be any physical damage. It's the equivalent of something pushing against you. It will push you back bug will not hurt you.
Has he ever been hit by a thousand missiles at the same time?

Godzilla's atomic ray has blown up a moving asteroid before. I'm sure the military would be no problem.
I accept that he can shoot down one target. Shooting down 1,000+ jet fighters moving insanely fast with one attack is another question entirely. All they'd have to do is spread out to minimize losses from his attack.

I can easily picture them closing from all sides, hitting Godzilla from every side with missiles, knocking him back and forth until he's dead or we run out of missiles.

And given how much money the US puts towards defense, I don't think we're going to run out of missiles soon.

If those don't work, we can use a volley of tactical nuclear weapons. Not all nukes send fallout everywhere within a thousand miles. Tactical nukes are specifically designed to hit smaller targets, so instead of hitting an entire city you hit an entire complex. There'd be much less fallout, and while (obviously) there would still be some, and the city Godzilla's in might be uninhabitable for a while... well, it's either that or he keeps rampaging.

To I have to pull out the list of Godzilla feats?

*Insane regeneration
*At home in land or in water
*Fought monsters that are much larger than himself. Even managed to throw one pretty far.
*Can breathe in space
*Intelligent
*Has shown the ability to fly
*Demonstrated the ability to make his body magnetic.
*Survived even after his second brain had been destroyed.
*Can fire a nuclear pulse in all directions that destroys anything near him. Basically a huge shockwave.
*If overloaded with radiation, he can meltdown and take the planet with him.
*Has escaped a black hole
*Regenerated from nothing but a heart
*Has shot fighter jets out of the sky with pin point accuracy many times.
*Destroyed a massive asteroid that was entering Earth's atmosphere.

*Insane regeneration
again, regeneration doesn't help against burst damage

doesn't apply to the situation

You could be the smartest person in the world and still get killed by overwhelming firepower. If he's smart, he would stay at the bottom of the ocean.

Land, air, it doesn't matter. He's still a huge target for computer guided missiles.

yes, i can now PULL THE MISSILES TOWARDS M- oh wait

If it doesn't reach a mile, then the fighters would be out of range.

oh WHAT

well, i guess we'd just have to

Doesn't work against massed fighters. You can't shoot all of them before they kill you.

And those fighters were likely at close range, not miles away like they would be in real life.

doesn't apply

I'm beginning to wonder why you're even in this thread. From the sound of it, you don't even care about Godzilla. Moreover, you have never even seen a Godzilla movie so you have no right to argue.

I think you missed it when I said this:

...that being said though, I'm used to unrealistic portrayals of the military, so I don't think it will detract from the film. I mean, if you're watching a movie about a a giant lizard monster your suspension of disbelief is already running pretty strong, so don't let something like the unrealistic military response bother you.
And I have actually seen a Godzilla movie. Although it was a long time ago, I do actually remember watching one of the movies because I distinctly recall the military guys planning to take out Godzilla's second brain. Idk which movie that was, but there was some chart that they pointed out that he had a secondary brain in his chest or something.

Guys. I'm a bit(under exagerrating. I am a massive fan.) of a big G-Fan myself. Godzilla ince regenerated from nothing but a heart. Need proof? Watch GMK. At the end Godzilla's heart is still beating underwater. He's back for a couple of more movies after that to destroy japan. I'm sorry to say but if Godzilla was real...we wouldn't be able to stop him. I just...It can't be stopped. 8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjSbLL1xQ0Y

Edit: He absorbs nuclear energy in the first place so Nuking him would be just throwing the S. In other words useless. But there is one way to beat Godzillla....summon Mothra or Bagan...even then it's an iffy. Well Bagans like somesort of God. Atleast in alot of Fan Fictions. But other than that Godzilla's virtually unbreakable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifp3xOM7ZDg

did you even read the posts above you?

anyways this movie is looking pretty cool

The CEO of Legendary himself says that Godzilla needs to make at least $450 million worldwide to make profit. Should be easy.

450 mill? Well I guess you could do that but it would take at the very least a month.

well none of you seem to understand the scale of $450 mil

that's a lot of money

you need a major blockbuster to make that much money. pacific rim didn't even make that much, and the only reason it even came close to that amount is because of the international market

to be fair, the international market will probably be where most of the revenue will come from for this movie, but it's still a lot

Given the high prices of tickets nowadays plus all the buzz about it, the film will do fine.

Pacific Rim didn't do so well because it was an original property and not an established franchise. And as we all known, the general public hates new ideas. The budget was also much bigger for that movie.

original property doesn't have much to do with it. i mean, if godzilla was a popular franchise, it'd make a difference, but godzilla generally is meeted by groans so i don't think the franchise name will have a positive influence on it

so explain to me why avatar is currently the highest-grossing movie of all time (not adjusted for inflation)

avatar wasn't even that original

it had some good alien and animal designs, but the rest was just a bunch of standard environmental themes and sci-fi glory

it did well, i think, mainly because of the revolutionary 3d technology and special effects

well, i haven't seen the movie so i can't really give a good review of it, but from what i hear it wasn't anything special

james cameron should go back to making movies like aliens and terminator 2
