Holy shit, I won yet ANOTHER raffle today. I am one lucky bastard, winning two raffles in one day. Amazing how I won out of 598 people.

EDIT: Since I'm gonna be receiving 10 Strange Backscratchers in this raffle, I'll be selling a few of them, so if you want one (once I get them), just let me know on Steam.

Just don't use it when you have a Medic, because it is a real pain in the ass to heal you when everyone else is hurt. Backscratcher Pyros are my lowest priority when I go Medic.
 
Does the crossbow count as a medkit for the BS?

I mostly use it when my team either has no medic, or a medic that is pocketing a heavy/demo/whatever.

Otherwise, I'll use Stock, Axtinguisher(Rarely), or the Homewrecker if the engie is having trouble with an over abundance of spies near our intel.

If you're going to use the stock, you may as well use a third degree
 
I rarely melee with the pyro.

Are there any good tips when I am forced to melee with him until I get ammo again.
 
If you only do it when you're out of ammo Powerjack would be useful. Homewrecker would also be useful if you're on defense. Or if you want to still burn people while having no flamethrower Volcano Fragment would do.

Melee for Pyro is quite useless unless you are using combos. Melees are more of utilities than a legitimate weapon, since if you're in melee range, you may as well be using a flamethrower. If you're out of ammo, just flee for more ammo. You should be getting enough kills to keep your ammo filled, anyway.

However, certain weapons do have their uses. Use the Axtinguisher or Powerjack for burning then hitting with a melee to finish them. The Third Degree is good if you can ambush a Pocket and Medic, and the Backscratcher is good for roaming because of the passive bonus and the additional +25% damage for ambushing. The Homewrecker and Neon Annihilator are great choices if you are defending with an Engineer, because you can remove sappers. The Volcano Fragment is useless except in Medieval mode, and there is no reason to use the default Axe.
