Pokemon X and Pokemon Y

Why not?

I would do the same. Since Pokéballs are very cheap, I tend to carry around a huge amount of them to reduce the chance of them running out. As a result of this, I catch the majority of things in Pokéballs.

ok

i guess i never thought of it like that because i never buy pokeballs after great balls get introduced

Since they eliminated the stack limit of 99, I try to maintain an amount of about 200+ Pokéballs on me and I buy new ones once the number drops below 200. I'd burn too much money if I did the same for Great Balls or Ultra Balls.

Sure, money is cheap in this game, but why throw it away like crazy?

I would assume that the fun would increase. Longer battle times means more suspense, and I LOVE suspense.

SWISH! FWOOOOM! BONK BONK! NUDGE! NUDGE! NUDGE! NUDGE! CRICKLE!

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU CAUGHT A LEGENDARY POKEMON! LEAVE HIM IN THE BOX, HE'S BASICALLY USELESS FROM THIS POINT FORWARD!

Yes, I'm aware of that. Actually, it's much, much harder to catch a stupid Beldum than, say, Reshiram or Xerneas. I think Mewtwo is statistically the hardest one to catch out of those I mentioned, but I'm not sure. It took me around 30 Poké Balls or something like that.

It's definitely a good thing that Beldum can be caught with the Pokemon Dream Radar, because it's very annoying to catch in the wild.

Oh, yeah, definitely, Beldum is probably the hardest Pokemon to catch in existence. All it knows is Take Down, so the only way you can stop it killing itself is if you have a ghost type.

Even then, it'll eventually Struggle itself to death. A catch rate of 3 can be very ridiculous if you don't have any Master Balls in your possession.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but too much repetition usually kills suspense and leaves you with nothing but boredom. So a longer battle time just means longer lasting boredom.

Eh, it's a personal thing. I say, longer battles = more challenge = more exciting. Like the first time I played SoulSilver, my battle with Lance lasted about 45 minutes at least, it could've been more. That was exciting for me.

Was there a part where you had to throw Pokéballs at the enemy for fifty consecutive turns in your battle against Lance?

There wasn't. I guess you were talking more on catpuring legendaries than trainer battles. I don't mind that either. Well legendaries should have an extremely low capture rate. Their legendaries after all. It should be difficult. I personally don't want games to make it incredibly easy for me to do seemingly difficult things.

I don't either. I think there is a misunderstanding here in that you think I am saying long battles can never be fun in general, when I was actually just replying to Neptune, who was replying to 2257, who was referring to a very specific situation.

Long battles can be fun and suspenseful if both participants are playing well and stuff. The point here was to establish that, when you limit yourself to only Pokéballs when catching legendaries, having fun is usually not your primary objective (unless you enjoy lots and lots of repetition). The primary objective here is bragging rights, and/or sometimes cost-efficiency.

I caught Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Lugia, Latias, Dialga, Giratina, Heatran, Cresselia, Darkrai, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Tornadus, Reshiram and Kyurem all with standard Poké Balls.

...why?

Because it adds to the challenge, and because I think it looks horrible when you have all your Pokémon caught in different Poké Balls. I like to keep it "in order".

...then why the hell do we have so many specialised varieties to help catch certain pokemon if they make your pc box horrible? Apologise to the apparently-useless-but-not-really pokeballs; you hurt their feelings.

But... But I never said they were useless D: And I never said they were ugly or criticized the fact that there are different types, it's just that I think that it looks bad when all Pokémon are caught with different Poké Balls, that's all :c

I wish there was some way to transfer Pokémon into different Pokéballs after you caught them. I'd like my team to be in different Pokéballs, but I kind of caught half of them when the Pokéball shop thing wasn't yet available, so half of them are in fancy balls and the other half has normal ones. :(

It took me a while, but I've managed to get a Yveltal that's manageable enough for my tastes. I did have to utilize the Wonder Trade feature to get there though, as I didn't have any Timid natured Pokemon with the Synchronize ability.

You wanted a Timid Yveltal? Ironically, I captured Yveltal on the first encounter and he had Timid nature. :waluigi:

I was thinking the same thing - looking back, I really wish I had caught Yveltal with a Dusk Ball (because of the darkness jumping out when he appears) or a Luxury Ball (the red/black color scheme on the Luxury Ball goes well with Yveltal).

But no, I had to catch him with a Quick Ball.

That's not the whole story though, since not only did I want a Timid Yveltal, but I did have to do a lot of soft resets until I saw the following stat values for Yveltal during the final Lysandre battle...

HP: 201
SP ATK: 151
Speed: 130

Part of this was thanks to a Timid Eevee that I received from a Wonder Trade, and I evolved it into an Espeon during the process.

i'm assuming

Well, I just completed the Pokédex and caught all the Pokémon.

In the Central Kalos Pokédex at least.
