Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

I wonder, are there NASCAR© racing games? If so, that's pointless. Why would you make a racing game where you are racing in a circle? I'm not saying it is a pointless idea, but it should be a budget title or downloadable for a reasonable price if it exists. Not a full priced retail game.

Y'know, EA. Money.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Well there are still people who enjoy that type of racing. For instance; the people who watch racing on TV and want to be able to experience it, Racing Simulators are the closest they can get with little effort. Also, I think most of them do have other track types than circles. Just like there are races on TV that are done in different locations. Dirt tracks from point a to point b, curvy tracks in the forest, rainy terrain, etc.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Pretty sure rally races and NASCAR are different types of racing though but yeah

But isn't NASCAR just racing in circles? I would like to see a track like this in Mario Kart though... Oh wait, Baby Park!

Anyway, for some reason, the Koopalings being in this game are causing them to grow on me. I used to not like them. I guess it is because I wasn't exposed to them. All I have seen them on are the New Super Mario Bros. games and the Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. I have Super Mario World, however, I have stopped playing it because of it's 90' difficulty and I feel a loss of precision (it's an old game, but I can sense it).

Re: Mario Kart 8

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Burnout 3 is super unrealistic as well, and I don't care for, say, FIFA or Madden, so I totally understand what you are saying there.

eh i dont care about realism in games and this applies to racing as well.

Probably why extreme-g 3 will forever be my favorite racing game.

Nothing about that game is realistic even in the slightest sense.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Hey, lets speak of Battle courses since we know nothing about them.

You know, I really want a donut-shaoed course that uses anti-gravity and you can go upside down, on top and even inside wheres it's like a tunnel and it uses anti-gravity too. It's kind of hard to explain.

It would be rather crazy, and that alones lets me know that it won't happen.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I want a choice between points style and survival style battle mode. I'm one of the few people who actually prefers points style battle mode WAY over survival style, but options can't hurt. I'm glad they're bringing item customization back from Mario Kart 7, though, because shells only battle mode in Mario Kart 7 is always a ton of fun (as long as no one gets the damn lucky seven).

I also want at least one 3DS battle course back in this game. I really liked 3DS's battle courses; I felt they were exactly what a battle course needs to be. Small, simple, and to the point, rather than an incoherent mess like Chain Chomp Wheel from Mario Kart Wii.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I just hope they're not as ridiculously humongous as they were in Mario Kart Wii. I get there are 12 players now, but come on, Funky Stadium was ridiculous. It was unnecessary to make them that big. They totally ruined Skyscraper because of that.

That being said, I REALLY hope they bring back Double Deck (although I think it's obvious they will). That course was awesome.

Yeah, I played Funky Kong Stadium with my brother a lot, he'd keep two items for protection and keep as far away from me as possible.

I really hope Petey makes it in this game, but I've always doubted it.

What if he makes it in as a stage hazard or a kart ala Piranha Prowler?

Stage hazard would be really cool, but a kart would be a bit weird. I never used the Piranha Prowler because of its stats.

and so am I. I also want the option to do battle in FFA and I want Battle Cups (4 of them), 2 Nitro, 2 Retro, with 4 tracks each, and I want to be able to do GHrand Prix like things in them (with of course Coin Runner mode and Balloon Battle options) which unlocks things too.
Also, I hope that they give a Smash Bros style way to unlock characters by playing 8 races/battles and every 8, you play against an unlockable character in a race and if you win, you unlock them. And with the ability to choose which character it is each time. Whenever it is divisible by 4 and not by 8, you just unlock a kart part (no race required) also with choice so that unlockables aren't so tedius.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I really do hope they have a different way to unlock parts instead of collecting coins. If they're going to make you collect coins, let us collect more than 10 per race.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I hope that Grand Prix AI is as easy as in Wii, I don't want to have to work hard to unlock things.

Re: Mario Kart 8

What's the new Rainbow Road gonna look like? Because holy sh*t the N64 one looked amazing, I couldn't even reconize that it was the N64 one, I thought it was new (Am I late to the party?).

No that is no fun. We need a challenge to have. MKW was kind of boring because the AI were too slow in 150cc. I like racing on a harder difficulty but not too hard like some of those wifi user racers. Even on custom tracks I had to add that file that makes the AI go faster. I want a challenge, something where I won't be in first for the entire time even though that's good being in first.

Why did I confuse you for Ltq at first?

From all gameplay I've seen, 10 is the max...

I smell a retro difficulty preservationist

Is there anything wrong with that?

Re: Mario Kart 8

You want difficulty in a Mario Kart game? How about playing with items on "hectic" in Mario Kart Wii, placing Toad's Turnpike as a custom track over anywhere compatible other than Moonview Highway, 150cc hard computers, light bike, and have the AI param included (Yes YoshiGo, that's what it's called) to have AIs insanely cheap and fast, and call it a day.

Why do you want any more difficulty in Mario Kart games? Can't it be already frustrating than it already is what with spiny shell spam? Don't you guys have online play if you want a decent challenge?

Re: Mario Kart 8

I am really looking forward to this. I'm really happy Moo Moo Meadows is back. :P

I'd love the ability to build our own tracks, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Well they did deconfirm it. Not that I was expecting one anyway, or, heck, even a good one. The only good track creators come from games built around it.

Spectacular. That's what the game's producer said. And it better damn be spectacular.
