Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Re: Mario Kart 8

Medium- Mario, Luigi, Boshi, Bowser Jr., Fawful
Light- Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Diddy Kong, Antasma, Professor E. Gadd
Super Light- Toad, Koopa, Toadette, Dixie Kong, Toadsworth
Feather- Dry Bones, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Eldstar
Cruiser- Birdo, Donkey Kong, Waluigi, Rosalina
Heavy- Dry Bowser, Lubba
Super Heavy- Bowser, Wario

Yeah, that's a bunch of lightweights. It's still a good roster.

Re: Mario Kart 8

So painful no one wants Pink Gold Peach :(
Mario Kart 8 has the best roster ever because of her.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Yes, Mario Kart 8 just needs Diddy Kong. Admittedly, I'd use Link, Metal Mario, and Tanooki Mario much more than Diddy Kong, and it's not like I'll ever get sick of using Mario anyway.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I'd be fine with that because at least Wario and Metal Mario are still there.

Cut all non-heavyweights nobody plays them lal

Because heavyweights are blatantly overpowered. Quite sad considering that Mario Kart 7 did a good job at balance.

Don't you mean Metal Mario B Dasher Slick Tires 7?

Heavy characters have been abused in "every" Mario Kart title to date; they have access to the highest top speeds after all. Of course, that's not to say that you won't come across some good lightweight and/or middleweight players out there.

Also, Mario Kart 7 was far from balanced with the likes of the Monster and Red Monster roaming around. Mario Kart 8 made the Monster and Hot Monster much less efficient, especially considering that no combo can ever hold its drift on normal off-road anymore.

Max acceleration with a lightweight was viable in Mario Kart 7. In Mario Kart 8, there is no way to win with Baby Mario with max accelaration.

Not when you have Metal Marios (or any Heavy class character) spamming those B Dashers and Monsters (or Red Monsters) every time. Even with the water speed disadvantage, they manage to overcome that weakness at Cheep Cheep Lagoon and Wario Shipyard.

Depending on the room that you're in, that can sound pretty exaggerated.

uh, even with "quotes" that's not necessarily true; mario kart ds had snaking and the heavyweight cars were in fact one of the worst ones you can use.

the only way lightweights should be viable is more item chaos and much stronger acceleration.

I didn't say anything about heavyweight karts. In Mario Kart DS, the heavyweight characters were abused, because of their weight advantages over everyone else.

Re: Mario Kart 8

and even so, you have super mario kart, mario kart 64, and super circuit which lightweights were clearly superior

i think double dash, lightweights have the edge, but it's mainly because of their special items

But Petey Piranha and King Boo can use all special items.

the main problem with them is that they're far less common than characters specialized at it. if you specifically want giant bananas, then you should go for diddy and donkey, who would give you that item far more commonly and throw out bowser shells and triple shells out of the equation. same with baby mario and baby luigi; thanks to them i've gotten a chain chomp as far up as fourth place.

It's a bit off-topic, but is Double Dash!! one of the reasons why you like Baby Luigi so much?

The Boo Pipes says hello there.

Anyway, I don't know why all the heavy karts nowadays have to have such lousy acceleration stats. Is it really that bad if a high accelerating combo is super heavy?

I guess it's just logic that dictates a heavier vehicle would accelerate slower than a light one (assuming they have the same power engine)

Anyone else wonder what the Animal Crossing characters would sound like? I dreamed that the villager's voice was absolutely terrible
Who says they even need to talk?
