The question is: "Why is she in this game?"
Possible answers are:
- Fanservice.
- Teaser for the next Yoshi's Island game. More "star children".
- A troll character.
- Roster balance. [It looks unbalanced. (5 adults + 5 babies = 10 homo sapiens) : 4 power-up versions : 9 Koopa family/relatives : 3 enemy species : 2 Toads : 2 Wa's : 1 Kong : 1 dino : 3 guests]
- Nintendo 'character gushing' (TV trope) the 'ensemble darkhorse' (also TV trope), which is Rosalina.

Or maybe that Nintendo thought "hey, since we have realized that Rosalina has gotten more popular over the years, let's make a baby version of her and put it on MK8, even though we don't have Bowser Jr. regardless of him being in Super Smash Bros with the other Kooplings."

With that said, there will probably be Orange Bronze Daisy, & Emerald Luigi to go along with another 2 of the worst characters, Metal Mario & Pink Gold Peach.

I feel like Pink Gold Peach is there so that Metal Mario isn't alone in his unique weight class. After all, Metal Mario is a heavy medium-sized person, and of the existing characters we have, Peach probably was the pick to get a metallic variation. With that said, I wonder which of the Koopalings would fit best as a Medium-sized Heavyweight.

I think Pink Gold Peach will probably get worst character award in the Fail Awards. At least Baby Rosalina will have the fact she's still a fan favorite character and there's a cuteness factor to it. Pink Gold Peach though is quite literally copy and pasting Princess Peach with a metallic skin and doesn't have Metal Mario's excuse of being a memorable power-up from Super Mario 64.

I don't personally care because as I've stated dozens of times Mario Kart rosters don't matter to me because anyone I'd want to play as regularly are guaranteed to come back every game. But I feel that will be why Pink Gold Peach will beat out Baby Rosalins there.

I feel that the Heavy weight class needs some more splitting, since Rosalina and Waluigi technically aren't heavyweights at all. If anything, Rosalina and Waluigi should've had their own weight category.

To put it mildly, a Cruiser weight class. It would basically be a class between the medium and mid-heavy weight classes, for the characters who are too tall to be middleweights, but too thin to be heavyweights.

Cruisers would basically have the acceleration, weight, and traction of a medium character, while having the speed and handling of a mid-heavy character.

That's where Rosalina and Waluigi really belong, since they're nowhere near as bulky as Donkey Kong and Roy Koopa.

Mario Kart Wii uses a size class instead of a weight class, which probably added to the confusion.

It probably has to do with how big King Boo normally is. He's probably able to alter his size at times, but his true size is too big for him to be a middleweight. Similarly, Waluigi is a middleweight in Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS, because despite of his tall frame, he's just way too thin to be a heavyweight character.

Pink Gold Peach is fabulous, has her own smiley, and the highest rank in the MarioBoards. Baby Rosalina doesn't have that kind of charm that stems from such awfulness.

I view it as a solution of practicality, although I do want to see Mario/Metal Mario/Bowser/Luigi wearing a leather jacket with flame motifs or something.

When Baby Daisy was made, Daisy didn't have the popularity Rosalina has since she was playable in 3D World and announced in Smash.
